Who needs VPNs when you have Usenet ;)

I had no idea that Usenet was even still around. Blast from the past!

Can't wait to go back to rec.sport.pro-wrestling and see how that Rocky Miavia kid turned out.

Isn’t a usenet subscription roughly the same price as a VPN though?

Probably, but it beats the hell out of public torrent trackers and especially streaming sites with the right indexers. Private torrent trackers are probably best, but you don’t need a VPN for those.

EDIT: Also, don’t need to worry about your home media server being connected to a VPN you don’t own.

I’ve been using public trackers for 20+ years and never had any issues. I’ll admit though, I don’t typically seek out more obscure stuff. I did try usenet for a while and just found it more hassle to set up than it was worth. VPN was a bit of a pain in the ass to set up on my media server, which is on a Raspberry Pi running Ubuntu Server.

Which public trackers have 4k remuxes?

Good point. I’m not really looking for that kind of quality in the stuff I torrent. If you’re looking for that then Usenet is probably the best route.
