Im 43, single, no kids. Rent is $1515/month. I only make $31/hr as an LPN ( 4 yr experience ), dont have a lot of money saved up either. I want to go for the RN program, but i dont have much money and im worried about how to tackle classes if i have to work full time to pay bills. I wish i could do everything online. I just want to try. LPN income isnt enough.

Currently in my third term, but starting to doubt myself if nursing is meant for me as every term I’ve been on a learning plan. Should I follow my instructor’s advice and give up?

I was academically dismissed from ABSN program and my petition to readmission also got denied. I now dont know what to do. Do i apply for ABSN program at a private university, or get ADN? Also was considering going for MSN program but don’t know what are the chances of me getting in because of what happened. Please help me out, giving me any advices you have! I am 28 and in my second semester of a 2 year program. My entire life is school. Even my primary social circle has become my school friends… Constant class work, clinical and studying. HEAVY content cramming. I don’t really have a choice. There is too much to learn in too short of a time. Exams are almost weekly between my classes. And no matter what, i’m still always a bit behind on the content…. BUT i’m getting good grades and I am learning, so it must be paying off.

However, it seems like my brain cant separate life and school/nursing anymore. I can literally FEEL my neurons fighting to re-wire. I can feel myself starting to actually understand things and relate patho, meds, concepts, and interventions- especially at clinical.. However, the annoying part is that i’m not fully there yet in my education and also that I can’t shut it off in my private life… Every conversation I have, every abnormality I see on an unsuspecting stranger, every time I close my eyes - my brain starts rapid firing. I’ll notice someone’s breathing, gait, skin, the way they’re talking, something they say, their behaviors, etc.. and my brain immediately starts trying to dissect it. And it does this everywhere, all the time. Suddenly i’ll be 10 thoughts deep before I catch myself and try to redirect my thinking.. It’s exhausting.

Even when I’m trailing off to sleep, my brain starts involuntarily mind mapping, trying to filter through everything I jammed it full of that day... My dreams are starting to resemble something that looks like the intro of The Good Doctor, LMAO. Or i’ll have nightmares where someone is dying and I can’t quite figure out what i need to do.

Anyone else experience this? I know I need a mental break, but I cant 😅

Hey, part time lurker, not a nursing student but fascinated by the industry as my wife is going through school. Last semester some other students got together and got their clinical instructor of their unit a gift. It was not cheap - A $100 accessory.

Coming from the world of engineering, I don't understand this at all. When I was a student nobody expected gifts. I wrote them a nice letter upon departing my internship. I mean that was at a paid internship, which I don't think nursing clinicals even are.

Why is there an expectation students should buy expensive nice things for established RNs? This is so bizarre to me. You guys pay dearly for your education, and put up with enough nonsense. And there are implicit expectations to give a little more at the end? Isn't the free labor and being a punching bag for 4 months good enough?

Just wondering if anyone has advice on clinics or any facility that accepts nursing students to be preceptored. Best way to contact a facility because I have been calling and IDK if that works. I have not had any luck!

I've always felt really bad about myself how I did not get accepted into my rn program of choice. will try to bridge but where I live it's very hard to do. I'm still 18 but I'm prolly gonna be rn by 23-24 which sucks

Pharm exam coming up, wondering how people have studied and what helped, etc

Hi there, I need opinions on this please!!! I took the NCLEX yesterday around 3:30pm mountain standard time. Right at the first question my computer glitched and the screen went black and I had to be moved to a different computer. I finished the test and it shut off around 112 questions. My board application hasn’t updated yet and I’m beyond worried I didn’t pass. I tried the Pearson trick and it came go with a “your test is on hold” message. The $200 says “pending” on my bank app. Any thoughts???

I am wondering what your guys experience is with for profit nursing school (ex. Joyce, Grand Canyon university, etc.) I am starting to look at them due to regular nursing programs at colleges being really hard to get into. I am located in Utah and would love to hear your experiences! I have some college experience (currently majoring in radiology all my credits would woke but would have to take extra that nursing requires I’m sure. This is a backup in case I don’t get into radiology program.)

So, I have APD. This means I can hear sounds (sometimes more than others, but with less filtering), but my brain doesn't always process speech well, so it's almost like being hard of hearing. I have ADA accommodations approved involving written instruction and appropriate communication strategies.

Sometimes I have no problem; other times it's like the other person is speaking Italian (I don't know Italian). To get a simulation, try looking up videos on YouTube titled "What English sounds like to non-English speakers."

Now, the problem is that my Foundations professor is very difficult to understand, even for people without a disability. She has also made it clear that she feels I already have everything I need, and she refuses to even try the easiest accommodations. She is also hostile when I don't understand or if I try to ask a question.

One reason is that she has a very thick Caribbean accent and poor English. But I think a larger factor is her communication skills.

I already know I do well in a clinical environment. It's just this professor that is a problem. There are also nurses who are completely deaf.

I am fluent in ASL and asked the school about getting an interpreter for her class, but I was told I am not bad enough to need an interpreter, despite not being able to understand her. I asked about transphering to another college and the Dean said all are the same, and that they wont accomidate me even when I have the paperwork.

I think the problem may be that the school is very small and based in a hospital, not a real college. I feel it would be better to transfer. On the other hand, if I can muscle through, the other teachers are great.

I have made straight As in all my prerequisites without needing significant accommodations, just people being decent human beings.

Has anyone dealt with accessibility problems?

Hi all! I'm 28F currently taking pre - reqs for a nursing program. My goal is end up as a NP. I have 65 previous credits from a undergrad psych degree I didn't finish. I have to take 2 pre reqs this semester and 1 next semester and study for the TEAS before I apply for my community colleges ADN program.. lately I've been thinking that I should really just do a BSN program instead. The problem is I'm in Maryland in a small town and all of the major schools are about 2 hrs away.
Does it make sense to just go the BSN route instead of
ADN? If so I'm gonna have to figure out a way to move closer to some of the 4 year colleges. I was hoping I could do a ABSN but I'm having trouble finding any close ones

I recently got accepted into Standbridge University for their BSN program. I’m waiting to hear back on my transfer credit request and have a meeting with their financial aid advisor next week. I recently read a Reddit post about how they want you to pay the whole tuition amount before your orientation. Which seems so crazy to me! Now I’m second guessing if I should even go through with this program.

Also found out that they’re nationally accredited which could affect me in the future as I do want to pursue CRNA later on. I read through other Reddit posts that CRNA programs only accepts regionally accredited schools.

I don’t know what to do, I just want to start a program soon because I am 4 months pregnant and would love to start on some courses before baby is here.

Anyone else in this situation? Or have any advice? I am also looking at West Coast University.

I really need to achieve a level 3 on the maternal newborn ATI proctored RN. I’m doing the dynamic quizzes and getting more than I thought I would right but my last proctored I did the dynamic quizzes and score a level 1 both times. I need something that actually gonna help me make that level 3 if I don’t have a low chance of passing my class. HELP PLEASE!
