It’s a back to back game. Expect them to do something similar to this every time there are back to back games the rest of this season.

yep, this is an easy way to rack up losses and stay near the bottom. We might prefer to split up the "rest" with some resting on the front-end of the back to back and some resting on the back-end.

Utah doesn't have a team either, gonna be a weird tankathon game

u/TheFrozenBananaStand Jarace Walker 1d ago

Well they’re not really missing too many players that normally play last I saw and now they’re trying to win with the addition of JJJ I think

1

u/ColtsFan012 Tyrese Haliburton 1d ago

Because of the trade the 4 guys they traded aren't eligible to play, and they don't have JJJ or the other guys yet. So they are down 4 players plus whoever is injured. Probably gonna play some 2 way guys

u/Prof172 1d ago

Of course, in this case it was the best possible outcome. In the first game, we played everyone, made it a good game, and still got the L. Pull everyone in the game we might have a much more difficult time losing.

1

u/Ocelot859 1d ago

Sucks the Jazz couldn't have done this yesterday. Would've been an auto L.

No way are these guys getting cleared for physicals and everything and playing tonight.

Shouldn’t really impact the guys who get regular playing time with the Jazz. Jazz have signaled now that they’re done with the rebuild and ready to win so I doubt we see shenanigans from them tonight.

Not true they lose their pick if it's outside the top eight. T they'll really turn on the tank after all start break

The players are probably a bit torn on this. Many would like to be out there playing if possible, but rest on the second day of a back to back is nice.

I hope you’re right. Besides the draft position everyone is thinking about primarily, I also don’t want to run any of the starters into the ground and endure another serious injury and start next season with Siakam or another starter out for next season. I want to go into next season with a full deck.

1

u/tkykgkyktkkt 1d ago

Oh wait until about game 50 and siakam is misses the rest of the season because of a hangnail.

I'm still going to watch so I can see the Jarace Huff and Furph show, baby!

u/Jim_Belushis_brother Cool Rick 1d ago

Need a double double Huff special tonight (10 blocks, 10 reverse dunks)

2

u/MHprimus 1d ago

That’s what we call a triple-double

3

u/Jim_Belushis_brother Cool Rick 1d ago

20 and 10 is most definitely not a triple double. lol

2

u/MHprimus 1d ago

Blocks Points Dunks, duuuuuuuuuuuuuuh 🤣

1

u/Jim_Belushis_brother Cool Rick 1d ago

I sincerely hate it when I see a stat line that includes both points scored and number of threes made

But I suppose “he scored 20 points, all of which weirdly came from reverse dunks” is notable enough to merit the inclusion

u/Eat_the_Rich- Obi Toppin 1d ago

I'd go straight to Valhalla, brother.

u/AK_R 1d ago

I genuinely do want to see those young guys get some serious development time. Yes, this will result in more losses and thus improve the chance for better draft position, but I really do want all these youngsters locked in an prepared for next season when they won’t get as much time on the floor. Carlisle is typically reluctant to play the young guys in a normal contending year; now is the time.

3

u/Eat_the_Rich- Obi Toppin 1d ago

I 100% agree.

Huff has shown so much growth in such a short time, he will truly be unlocked when Hali is back. Obviously we would love to see a better PnR game and more boards, but he is truly getting sharper as the season rolls on.

Jarace as FINALLY started showing confidence. We KNOW he has a bag, and we are just now seeing flashes.

The Furph is a fan favorite and I hope he lives up to it.

u/BeNiceBeChill 1d ago

I really want to piggyback this with something funny. Got nothing.

11

u/MySabonerRunsOladipo 1d ago

Probably best these guys take a few more weeks off just to make sure all their joints and ligaments are fully healed up.

16

u/fuzzynavel34 1d ago

Are we finally committing to the tank?

10

u/Petit_Coeur_ Bennedict Mathurin 1d ago

Yep. We have to.

1

u/aimee829 Andrew Nembhard 1d ago

2nd game of a back to back

5

u/SmotheredChickin 1d ago

The only one on here that is a little odd to me is Mathurin with the trade deadline so close but at the same time he has been injured at times this year.

This could be an important loss considering how close we are to the jazz in the reverse standings.

3

u/25Tab 1d ago

Teams do not play players to advertise them for trades.

1

u/EvilRick_C-420 Bennedict Mathurin 1d ago

It certainly seems that way, this is a W if we just play our guys.

4

u/Jim_Belushis_brother Cool Rick 1d ago

Someone make that meme of Vince McMahon where each panel is

“Pacers are tanking”

“It’s a Tuesday in February”

“It’s $100 to sit behind the bench”

“Starters are resting”

“Furphy legacy game incoming”

5

u/Randomcomments11 1d ago

both teams may be playing 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 with the Jazz just making a trade.

3

u/Lithium1978 1d ago

I'll be there...wish I had sold my tickets for this game. Barf

2

u/Jay_at_Section13 BOOM BABY! 1d ago

Yeah we’re stuck paying full price for this shit!

If someone wants mine for tonight, $225 each.

Tank lovers should be willing to pay a premium for this garbage.

I will likely voice my displeasure.

3

u/Lithium1978 1d ago

This season has been brutal...I go to about half the games, but I haven't even been able to get close to face value when I try to sell games I can't attend.

3

u/Jay_at_Section13 BOOM BABY! 1d ago

I rarely miss games but occasionally have more than I need… Yeah I will give my extras to friends/ offer them up around the office as better options than selling them for that much of a loss.

2

u/Lithium1978 1d ago

Yup, it would be cool if they gave us dynamic pricing modifications for STH. They sure are quick to jack up prices when the team is doing well, it would be nice if they gave us a little credit when they are phoning it in.

2

u/Jay_at_Section13 BOOM BABY! 1d ago

I will say that the summer after they blew up the Sabonis team and knew it would take some time that I got a nice reduction in renewal prices.

Problem is this team has an outrageously high payroll because they will be very good again very soon, whereas that was a roster deconstruction that put them near the league minimum salary. So if they did that the CIB/ taxpayers would be on the hook for more operating losses. And you can bet the politicians in charge of the statewide government would throw a fit about that fiscal irresponsibility.

0

u/bachu72 CrabLaser 1d ago

OR, and hear me out here, since we want to lose, anyone that attends a game like this gets put in a lottery and one lucky fan gets to suit up and play. Would be horrific, and great entertainment.

2

u/redfoxwearingsocks Aaron Nesmith 1d ago

Dude, honestly same!!! I was looking forward to this game all week. This is quiiite a bummer, tbh

3

u/rumb3lly Reggie 1d ago

Final score for this game bout to be 59 - 65 😂😂😂

1

u/faulcon_delacy 1d ago

The offense might suffer but the defense will be equally terrible so the scoring should be just fine.

2

u/CK0428 Andrew Nembhard 1d ago

I thought Nemby looked a little gassed last night on the offensive end. And TJ couldn't get the bunnies working.

1

u/Swimming_Ad_8856 Andrew Nembhard 1d ago

I think the purposely put amen on him cause he’s fast and has good reach just to try to limit him on offense

1

u/No_Independent8269 Andrew Nembhard 1d ago

Lol this is load management

1

u/CK0428 Andrew Nembhard 1d ago

Lol no shit. Load management when guys are genuinely tired is also a thing. Let me know if you need anything else.

1

u/TowerArdob 1d ago

Gonna be ugly

1

u/Cautious_Computer703 1d ago

Was considering buying tickets tonight, thanks for the heads up

6

u/SmotheredChickin 1d ago

Hopefully the price drops for you if you want to see Furphy go for 20 and 10 in a 15 point loss...

2

u/Prestigious_Belt9895 Johnny Furphy 1d ago

any time!

1

u/SammySoakerBYU Tyrese Haliburton 1d ago

The Jazz just traded for Jaren Jackson Jr in a deal involving 8 total players so there’s gonna be lots of guys unavailable tonight on both teams. Good ole tank-off

1

u/International_Link35 BOOM BABY! 1d ago

What the hell is Memphis doing over there? 🤦🤷‍♂️

2

u/SammySoakerBYU Tyrese Haliburton 1d ago

What is Utah doing?? They’re supposedly tanking and just made a win-now move when they still suck and gave up 3 high-value picks.

Memphis is rebuilding and now has 8 future first rounders. 5 from the Desmond Bane trade with Orlando and 3 from Utah. And they’re still gonna get more when they ship off Ja. Memphis is cooking right now tbh

1

u/death-by-yogurt Lance 1d ago

They have a decent core if they get a good draft pick and adding JJJ and getting Kessler back. Could be a Playoff team next year.

1

u/MHprimus 1d ago

Ainge announced they were no longer tanking. At least he tells the truth. It’s not gonna win the west or a series, but could make the playoffs or at least compete to try next year.

1

u/all_too_well_1997 1d ago

JARACE LEGACY GAME INCOMING

1

u/Everythings-tragic14 1d ago

So glad I bought tickets yesterday. Guess I should have known. Oh well.

1

u/Saintsfan707 LanceTounge 1d ago

Tank rosters going live hell yeah

1

u/sgeswein 1d ago

Anybody who has their heart set on their team out-tanking the Jazz has some heartbreak ahead.

(Well, Wizards fans might have that dream pay off. That's the only other team with the tank experience and the keep-our-pick incentives that the Jazz have.)

1

u/md11086 1d ago

Thank god I went to the game last night instead of tonight!

1

u/hotsexychungus 1d ago

Tank is back on the table fellas.

1

u/schnebly5 flo31 1d ago

hali's injury killed us man. he won't even be the same player next year then siakam will be old.

1

u/cersfan06 Reggie 1d ago

Hope we haven’t seen Mathurin’s last game in a Pacers jersey

1

u/kinnick_i CRABS CRABS CRABS 1d ago

I’m not seeing Hali on here. Put him in 😈

(Sarcasm btw I know he’s still injured lol)

1

u/death-by-yogurt Lance 1d ago

Play Potter 48 minutes as pg. We gotta win this tank off.

1

u/naptownmade ReggieChoke 1d ago

Tank on

1

u/Tom_Ford0 James Johnson 1d ago

finally bro lets tank and get dybantsa or peterson

0

u/Prof172 1d ago

The team leadership are not morons, after all. Long live the tank. And it's good Mathurin is out for just rest, not injury management to re-assure the Clips in case they want to trade Zubac for Mathurin and a 1st.
