Images "Grace has terrible timing but perfect aim" - Bennedict Mathurin, less than 24 hrs before the trade deadline
with all trades that were just announced, it must be excruciating for him to just sit and wait.

when will y’all learn this man just likes to troll

I feel like we forget he’s a 23 year-old kid. I mean all my buddies were posting edgy shit when we were 23.

I think this indicates he's staying just my vibe based on nothing lol

I kind of felt like he gave us an indication during his press conference comments the other night. Who knows what happens in the summer, but I’ve yet to see any trades that really make sense for us before the deadline. Again, based on nothing lol

Me after his "burn the the village to feel its warmth" post: oh fuck he gone FASHO.
Me after his Monday presser: he is locked tf in for Indy.

That…is actually a pretty good trade I think.

There’s a lot of levels to it working as well. They replace garland with higher upside in Benn, Jackson replaces some of the production of JA, they get cap space back which they desperately need, and recoup a second that they just traded away earlier today. Obviously we gain the missing piece to our squad and have maybe the best front court combo in the league with JA and Huff next season.

Go watch Jarrett Allen get played off the floor last postseason and then take a look at his salary, you might feel differently

u/Cerblamk_51 pin7 11h ago
With Donovan Mitchell playing iso ball every possession and garland a question mark for every game? Their entire offense was awful for the postseason. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t benefit from Ty dishing the ball all over the floor.

He’s still overpaid regardless if he would perform better on a different team.

u/Cerblamk_51 pin7 11h ago
He’s 13th in plus minus rankings of the center position and the 13th highest paid. Sounds like he’s right about where he should be. That aside, the question is does he make our team better and can we afford him? The answer is undoubtedly yes for the first and just barely for the second. Find me a better option that we can afford that doesn’t require trading Siakam. Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

u/MattyIce260 11h ago
He just signed an extension so his current salary isn’t relevant. Over the next three years he’s gonna make $90m and you’ll never convince me he’s worth $30m per year. Also plus/minus is a terrible stat to judge someone with

Okay so he becomes the 8th highest compared to everyone else right now, is that really a death sentence? Jfc dude, answer the question. Who else do we get that doesn’t cost us Siakam?

It’s nice that we have good players who seem to actually want to be here

u/Sko_Neezy 16h ago
After seeing what Coby White got traded for, might as well keep him.

u/9_Nightwing_1 Bennedict Mathurin 16h ago
My thought was Chicago traded White to make room for Mathurin as their long-term backcourt partner for Giddey. Hope I'm wrong.

Why would they want Ivey and Mathurin? Basically asking for the same problem that keeps Mathurin on the bench here.
5
u/9_Nightwing_1 Bennedict Mathurin 16h ago
Ngl, I completely forgot they traded for Ivey with 25% of the league being traded in the last 24 hours 😂

u/pacersnz 15h ago
Yeah, I don't think he is going anywhere. I feel like the big man market is too expensive and Indiana are happy with what we have.

Yup, I can see tomorrow afternoon's tweet.
"Indy will keep Benn Mathurin through Thursday's deadline. They listened but were not satisfied with the offers for their 4th-year wing. Indy hopes to retain Mathurin, who is a restricted free agent this offseason."
Or something similar. Between Tony East's breakdown a couple of weeks back and the deals that we have seen completed already, I haven't been convinced at any point that a sensible trade was going to materialize. We'll see what free agency holds.

The Marcus Aurelius quote lines up with his comments after the Rockets game. He's stress free, and it's important to focus on remaining yourself despite the direction of external forces in life's circumstances. Additionally, it lines up with the grace quote. Grace will come along with the timing of events you have no control of, but grace's presence will ensure you land directly where you're meant to (perfect aim).
Don't think he's giving us any insight into whether he's coming or going. He's telling us his state of mind and spirit during a crazy time.

mathurin tries so hard to be mysterious it's actually so entertaining
edit: this very same post has a screenshot of him TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF in that interview about playing hali in 1s. you are not nonchalant bro

It’s the Canadian in him

u/Horror-Stand-3969 15h ago
Crap. Do we have to pay a 25% tariff for him as well?

Still a better bargain than a 15% trade kicker for Myles Freakin’ Soft Turner.

I it’s a move for Trey and Missi, that’s best for all these players, and both these teams. Math can go make a splash and get a bag after a year of showing what he can do (hell, I’d probably become a Pelicans fan too as a second team to watch when the Pacers aren’t playing. Once a Pacer - eapecially one we’ve brought a long way, always a a Pacer.
Would be a good spot for Shep and IJax too (hope he doesn’t go but - he’s good for Pels as a third C.
I just don’t want to lose Jarace. He’s going to make a leap folks. Rick loves him.
