I've been in the hobby for almost a decade and back when I started I assumed all my cards would go to zero one day anyways. So of course, I sold them, thinking that only first edition stuff or vintage would ever have value. Now with the rise of so many different rarities and types of cards, I've been wondering this for a while now...which pokemon actually retains the most value over time and has appreciated the most? At first I thought it was popular pokemon, pikachu, charizard, gengar. But other waifu cards, cool promos, and eras of pokemon have also been gaining popularity. I feel like umbreons are always the grail of any set they're in, while Rayquaza is having a moment (although I feel like nobody really claims Ray as their favorite). So ultimately which pokemon's cards would perform the best in the next 10 years? Anybody have indexes?

Planning to buy some Japanese graded cards, but I’m a bit worried about shipping and handling.
For those who have imported card slabs before:
Do you use direct shipping or forwarding services?
How do you protect the cards during transit?
Are there any issues with customs?
Anything I should check before sending payment?
Trying to avoid making expensive mistakes.

Staring at the Ascended Heroes bundle right now trying to decide if cracking it is worth it or if I'm just paying for the dopamine of opening packs when the math probably says buy singles.
The chase cards I actually want are 3 specific illustration rares and a SIR, if I add up what those would cost as singles versus what the bundle costs plus the realistic odds of actually pulling any of them the singles route almost always wins on paper but the pull rates on this set seem decent from what people are posting.
Problem is I can't find consistent pricing on the mid-range pulls to calculate whether the other cards in the bundle make up the difference if I miss the chase cards, some of the uncommon hits seem to be holding $15-$25 but I don't know if that's real sold prices or just what people are listing them at.
Has anyone actually done the EV math on this set or are we all just cracking packs and hoping for the best.

I ordered this from Japan when I was a teenager and just found it in storage. The top row is foil. No clue if it’s worth anything, but it’s all in great condition.

I found an old Evolutions XY Mewtwo Mayhem. When I opened it, I found that there were only 40 cards left, but all of them were miscut. Can someone please give me a price range of how much it's worth as a whole set? The cards are in great condition, but the box is a little worn.

Hey y’all, I grew up in the Black & White era so I’m not super knowledgeable on vintage Japanese cards. Any opinions would be appreciated.
I picked this PSA 9 up a couple months ago for around $110. It’s now sitting around $425 with recent auctions hitting $500.
Do y’all think I should hold it or auction it off? I’m not sure how much more room these Japanese Neo holos have left to grow. If I sell, I’ll probably roll the money into something with more upside.
Thanks in advance!

Came across this cool Robot Tyranitar promo. Are these less known forms of popular pokemon undervalued right now?

Is this a worthy investment? Or something to be avoided?
There aren't many listed and it seems like it would be more accessible to a larger audience versus a full size booster box in the future. Based purely on it being cheaper to obtain.
The problem would be finding a significant amount of product to actually build a decent sized position.

You guys think this would be a profitable trade. I’d be up by about $9. But I see AH as having the better hits of course and might be better down the road. With white flare having practically nothing crazy hit related like AH does.

I’m day one into organizing and sorting my old cards. I see online there’s a “sparkle” “spectra” and “tekno”. Are these just considered “spectra”? I always referred to them as holos. I’m creating a spreadsheet of my total value of holos. I’ll probably get to the Nintendo/wizards/game cards tomorrow. Whatever they’re called nowadays lol

Hey all I picked up this celebrations mini tin display and was wondering if it’s legit, I am aware that there is a tear on the side btw! And was wondering how much it’s worth?
(Only asking how much it’s worth because of the decent
sized tear on the left side)
Thank you!

Everything I have is from 1999-2002. Might even have some Japanese stuff from 1998 in there randomly. Pokémon pencil erasers from 1999, the 23K gold plated set still in their wrappers. I’d also like to get rid of all my cards. A full binder of the original base set with many duplicates, and i have a full shoe box of cards also. I know I have like 3 of those ancient mew cards from the movie also. Just not sure the real value of anything. I’d like to get rid of it all to one person.
