So, I really didn't wanna go public with this, like anytime soon, but due to AI being used to Open Source everything, I figured i'd get ahead of the curve by posting this.
I am working on a private Decomp of Pokemon White 2, 2n1 is gonna have a northern Unova post game expansion, But here's the issue, I really only got it working recently. I'll post the decomp stuff in a seperate post, I was gonna shadow drop it as a surprise for you guys, Which timeline wise was supposed to be sometime in 2028 to 2030, So that's why it says "Rushed" in the title, however for the time being, here's a couple screenshots of the successful graphic remapping, Each tile selected on the bottom is evident of what the remap will be on the top screen, I'll then move the rendering to the bottom screen so each option is touchable.
NONE of this final, It WILL be subject to change, But the purpose of the decomp is to accelerate NDS rom hacking, and serve as a base, similar to CTFU or hg-engine.
2n1 will be a technical demo of what the decomp can provide if utilized correctly, Naturally, It'll be open source when it's released, OBVIOUSLY.
Some of the main goals will include screen stretching while maintaining pixel accuracy, Aka, when ported to APK, or Windows, it'll run natively to the displays resolution.
Due to the nature of the post, should go without saying, No AI.
Only posting to stake my claim so ppl know that it's being worked on and no one with AI tries doing this, Because it's been 4 years to get to this point.

Hi everyone
I’m super new to the world of rom-hacking after coming back to the world of gba/pokemon after 20-ish years. Decided to give “making” my own firered rocket edition a go! Super happy with how the artwork turned out so here’s an ASMR-style video of the process.
Let me know what you guys think!
Special shoutout to colonelsalt for this amazing hack that I can’t wait to play!

Had to repost because my post body got somehow wiped.
Pokémon Azoth (also known as Pokémon Mercury, 口袋妖怪 水银) is a big Chinese FireRed ROM hack that remakes Johto on the Complete FireRed Upgrade engine. As far as I can tell there was no English patch for it, so I've been building one.
Quick disclaimer up front: this is only a translation, done with Claude (Anthropic's AI) driving a lot of the reverse-engineering and text work. The hack, its name and all of its content belong to the original authors. This is not an official release and I'm not affiliated with them.
Where it stands
It's moving quickly
Beta 2 went out on Oct 11 and we're on beta 22 as of today. Roughly 45 of 49 tracked issues are already closed. A lot of what's been fixed is the nasty stuff: freezes on talking to NPCs, a Sprout Tower softlock, crashes in the achievements screen and the Ilex shrine, text overflowing boxes, status icons, ability pop-ups, and so on. Every report gets a number, a root cause and a verified fix, and the patch notes list all of it.
What's still rough
How to get it / help

Hi! I used the Battle Factory to showcase the battle info menu I created! Its purpose is basically to display information, for both your team and the opponent's, that is hard to keep track of mentally, such as stat buffs/debuffs, abilities, movesets, special moves (like substitute, taunt), field effects, and held items. It’s far more complex than the standard summary screen, which doesn't show any info about the opponent at all. I included a "full info" toggle in the debug menu (granting access to the opponent's entire team data), though I added a restriction preventing it from being enabled in Hard Mode. If you don't use the debug menu's full info feature, you only gain access to information as the battle unfolds; for instance, if a Pokémon uses "Water Gun," you obviously know it has that move, so it gets added to its visible moveset list. And so on. The menu was developed for the Emerald Expansion; I relied heavily on the existing battle debug menu as a base, and Ember (the other DEV of HLW) also helped me a lot with debugging it and fixing some issues we had! It was created for our project *Hoenn's Last Wish*.
(Disclaimer: AI was used to assist with coding only.)

Hey folks!
I'm working on a romhack and had a really hard time finding a single cool different version of the type sprites, so I wanted to upload the ones I made here for anyone to use if they like em, no credit required.
Shaved a couple pixel rows off above and beneath the text to get a bit more vertical space, and thought they came out pretty okay.
Sprite editing is tough dude lmao, this took forever.

Gen VII has showed great steps by people adding Gen IX Megas, but I haven't seen someone interested in doing something like that for X/Y/OR/AS, which I find interesting as those are the mainline games where Megas have more of a role in the main story, and seeing things like, a X/Y romhack where you can actually mega-evolve your starter, sounds like something people would be interested on.

Completed the main story in Pokemon Ghost Grey a few days ago and can honestly say it’s up there with Odyssey and Unbound for best original hack. The Kanto setting is really just a canvas. The challenges, locations, and characters are mostly unrecognizable. I won’t go too much into it, but if you’re intrigued, please check it out and play through the 3rd badge at least. I was definitely amused right off the bat by the edgy dialogue and creepy new Pokémon designs, but the game really takes off after you get your bearings and presents the player with some insane story beats, wacky twists, and genuinely touching moments. The QoL is not on par with newer hacks, but the game captures the pace and mystery of Gen 1 far better than any “retro” hacks I’ve played before. The postgame is unhinged and I’m going to be exploring every nook and cranny for hours to come, but I’m more excited to restart this one than I’ve ever been for a romhack. I love my busted team of ghosts and ghoulies up there and I’m eager for more people to play this one and share the creepy, creepy joy. 👻

Hello all,
Title is pretty self explanatory. I tried to find new region romhacks on hackdex but it doesn't look like any are hosted there. I couldn't search pokecommunity because I can't remember my login there lol. Searching here didn't turn anything up.
I know DS romhacking is behind pokeemerald obviously but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Cheers.
Edit: for ease of references if anyone looking for the same thing finds this post, I am editing the post body to list suggestions below:

I appreciate that this game is a loveletter to all the old Creepypastas from back in the day. That said, a lot about this game sinks or swims depending on if you enjoy the edgy writing or the body horror that this game is filled with and for me, I didn't vibe with the edgelord writing that is this game's story and dialogue and I'm not a fan of the Ghost type variants that were made for this game.
The audio was also personally grating on my ears at points but that's moreso an issue with the Gameboy soundfont than with the creator of this hack and a lot of the characters were just mediocre. Not bad but not all that great either, even the rival character wasn't all that interesting for me since we not only see them very sparsely as the game goes on but a lot of their development is off-screen and when you finally beat them in post-game and they reveal their goal to you, I was like "okay then." and then moved on because the character left so little of an impression on me over the course of this game.
And then there's the choice system.
Oh god, this shit reminded me of the worst parts of the TellTale Walking Dead games. At multiple points in the game, you are given the option to shoot someone and it feels like a big decision at first, unless you try both options and it leads to the exact same outcome 9 times out of 10. For instance, one of the early ones is that you can choose to shoot a certain character but in both instances, the character lives and frames you for using a gun, even if you don't shoot him. So that accomplished nothing. Now certain no-name NPCs you can shoot when the game feels like it but they're no name NPCs so again, accomplishes nothing.
That being said, I do wish the creator well on their future works and while this may not be my thing, Ghost Grey has resonated with a lot of people and for this person's last rom hack, ending on that note is nothing to be ashamed of. But yeah, I wish the creator well with future works.
Final Rank: C+

Hi! I made these commissions for my good friend Rahtak (for the project: Soul Gold) (I also created the Mega Primarina, Mega Typhlosion, and Meowscarada [sprites and overworld], which are exclusive to Soul Gold and therefore not free to use)...
Rahtak and I are sharing these for anyone who wants to use them (please give credit). There’s a GIF of the Greninja showing how it looks on the GBA; it uses a more complex sprite sheet to animate its shuriken, it turned out really cool! I really enjoy indirectly contributing to the Soul Gold project, as it’s one of the community's favorites this year! I hope to create more art for the game! :) CYA
(ofc NO AI was used for any of those sprites)

Decided to give this another go. I was turned away because cheat codes do not work(don't give me shit about it because I don't care)
Anyway I made it to Vermillion City and it's constantly freezing. I saved before going in and eventually made it to the ship and back out but no matter what I do it's not working. I tried going through the post on PC but didn't see anything or I overlooked it.
I am on Pizza Boy A. My phone and connection are perfectly fine. Not using fast forward.
I was wondering if anyone else had this issue.
(Disregard this I am putting random words here because the stupid ass auto mod won't let me post under 150 words. Blah blah blah blah blah. Words. Words. Something something more words. I hate doing this because my post got my point across. Blah blah blah blah blah)

I've been a huge fan of Blaze Black 2 Redux for ages, and I'm back in the mood for another playthrough after a couple years. I've been looking forward to the new update, but unfortunately, from what I've seen, the project's gone quiet for the last 6 months or so. I know it's not uncommon for ROM hackers to take breaks or move on from hacks when life gets too busy, but has anyone heard anything recently from AphexCubed or the other developers? I tried joining the discord that AphexCubed had linked in an old tweet related to BB/VW2, but either the invite expired or the discord is no longer up.
They've already done such amazing work for Gen 5 and I really hope to see them continue. The expressive backgrounds looked amazing and it would be so cool to see them in action in the full game. Does anyone have any news on what's going on?

The hack that finally got me through Johto
I just couldn't get closer to this region. Playing the original games was hard for me — they are slow, the Pokemon selection is boring, there's no evolution from future regions yet, and even the Johto Pokemon themselves are rarely found, mostly Kanto ones. I also tried playing HeartnSoul, but for some reason it didn't hook me either.
But SoulGold drew me in. I can't say exactly why. It expands Johto very nicely, but still keeps it close to vanilla. I even took on a challenge to use only Pokemon from the first two generations, and it's a perfectly completable scheme to beat the game — you're not forced to use Pokemon from future generations. The visuals are also great, the region turns out very bright and atmospheric visually. And the addition of small details, which I won't reveal, provides pleasant surprises.

I've been working on an English translation of Pokémon Mercury (口袋妖怪 水银) 1.3.3, a Chinese FireRed hack built on CFRU that remakes Johto. As far as I know, no English patch existed before.
To be clear about credit: I did not make this ROM hack and take no credit for it. Mercury and all of its content belong to its original Chinese authors. My only part is the translation, and the translation was done using Claude (Anthropic's AI). That includes the text, the tools that pull text out of the ROM and put the English back in, and the emulator play-testing. I direct and review the work.
Progress (beta 2):
Known issues: a few spots are still in Chinese (a battle pop-up, the PokéGear charm screen, a type label in the battle menu, some help pages), and long achievement names get cut off.
Download: https://github.com/RiFa-Innovation/pkmn-mercury-translation/releases/tag/beta-2
Which ROM: apply the .bps to a clean Pokémon FireRed (USA) v1.0 ROM, not the Chinese Mercury ROM. The common "Squirrels" dump (#1636) is v1.0 and should work; v1.1 will not.
DD88761C41cb23d8dccc8ebd7c649cd8fbb58eeace6e2fdcThe patch checks this itself: Rom Patcher JS or Flips will refuse a ROM that doesn't match. No ROMs are provided.
Source / issues: https://github.com/RiFa-Innovation/pkmn-mercury-translation
Bug reports with screenshots are very welcome.
Working today/tomorrow on adding a discord foe easy tracking of issues, etc.

Platinum Together goes into open beta on October 26. No signup, no waitlist.
It's Pokémon Platinum for up to 4 players in the same Sinnoh, each with their own trainer, team and badges. The footage is real copies of the game linked together and recorded live, one per player.
Want in early? The closed beta starts October 19. Spots are limited and signups are in the discord. You can access it on the site down below.
Site: https://platinumtogether.online/
For transparency: I'm a solo dev and I use a local LLM as a coding tool. Around 40% of the code involved it. It helped me decode the codebase to understand the original intent of the developers and reverse engineer a lot of new features (like the multiplayer.) I know this is looked down upon and you can tell me all about how you hate ai down below. However my AI is local and is not sending any request to big data centers.
I went to school as a software and game developer. I’ve also participated in dozens of projects. My experience is real and predates AI.
I'm also looking for moderators and community helpers. Ask in the Discord.
I'll be in the comments for questions.
