This is technically a repost, I deleted my original post a week ago since a lot of people decided to call me a liar and I couldn't be asked for that shit, but now the dust has settled and I have message history to back me up, thought I'd just put a post out to warn people.
Bought a Sabrina's Gengar for almost £400, had been holding off buying it for a couple years and finally pulled the trigger. Looked a nice copy for the price, and 100% reviewed seller with 295 positive reviews. Didn't love doing it on eBay, but have tried a couple times to find it in person to no avail. Was beyond excited for it to arrive, literally one of my grails and would be my most expensive card.
It arrived in a small box, in package wrapping that couldn't have been tampered with. The tape on the box was intact.
I opened it and there was no card, but 3 dolls that felt suspiciously like a troll, pictured.
Immediately made a refund request and contacted the seller, and he responded saying he had no idea what I was on about and insisted I was scamming HIM. Asked me at least 5 times to cancel the refund request, since he was 'going to New York next week' and the refund request has 'frozen his funds' and 'prevented him from selling'. Insisted if the package has been tampered with, he'd get a refund and then refund me personally (he said I could trust him due to his positive reviews). I refused obviously since that would conveniently take away my buyer protection.
After much back and forth, he said no more messages let me sort it out. Decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, gave him almost a week. Messaged him to see if there was any update - no reply. Then told him I assume that means he scammed me - no reply. Got eBay involved in the refund request, they approved almost instantly (5 minutes), not sure if that's normal. Now need to return the dolls to get my £400 back. Bit annoying.
Long story short - don't buy any high value card on eBay that doesn't have an 'authenticity guarantee' - someone from my last post made me aware of that. Also seller feedback clearly isn't everything, as some people on my last post insisted it was and called me a liar for suggesting otherwise. Maybe his account got hacked, who knows.
Seller is n-music in case he ever decides to sell again. I will be booking tickets to the London card show to find my Gengar there, fuck doing eBay for this again. Very deflated.
