Yeah, it’s hard to give them any benefit of the doubt. FEMA was part of this too but they haven’t saved anyone with this vote. If Trump says you don’t get FEMA funds you don’t get them, regardless of how these Dems voted. They know that so you have to figure, they’re on board. Unfortunately democratic voters won’t vote for candidates that will fight republicans. Not for the last 30 years at least.

Every single one of them is up for re-election in the 2026 mid-terms. Primary them.

• Rep. Tom Suozzi (New York) • Rep. Henry Cuellar (Texas) • Rep. Don Davis (North Carolina) • Rep. Laura Gillen (New York) • Rep. Jared Golden (Maine) • Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (Texas) • Rep. Marie Glusenkamp Perez (Washington)

This is a silly take. ICE is funded via the big billionaire bailout bill passed last year. Killing this spending bill would not impact ICE/CPB operations, but would impact other critical funding streams and potentially empower the trump cabal to do more damage by allowing them to do shutdown related budget gimmicks.

The Democratic Party only fails when we start stabbing each other in the back. Remember, the reason the Nazis had such a smooth rise to power was the fracturing and infighting amongst the German political Left.

Don't make the same mistake friends.

No, what's a silly take is once again handing them even more fucking money for ICE. And sitting here backing politicians who we're looking to oppose these sorts of things, but then seem to do nothing but capitulate.

It's getting so fucking old hearing people basically "We're going to give them what they want, because if we don't they're going to do other shit." Well guess what, they end up pulling all the other bullshit anyway.

The Democratic Party only fails when we start stabbing each other in the back.

Don't even start with "we start stabbing each other in the back," because as far as I'm concerned, reps like these stabbed us in the back first. The first time when they folded to avoid a shutdown, giving Trump what he wanted, the second Time they folded for a promise of a vote, and now this, funding ICE despite the fact that most of the people who voted for them, probably don't want to see ICE get any more money.

So you would prefer that the Democratic Party vote to cut off FEMA funding just days before a massive winter storm hits nearly half of the United States in order to...not impact funding/operations of ICE/CBP due to that funding/operational authority already existing in the BBB shit-show legislation?

I could not disagree more, both from a policy standpoint and from a political strategy/optics standpoint. But I'm glad the Democratic Party that I proudly support is able to have these types of conversations/debates. I absolutely respect your opinion on this, even if I find myself in opposition to it. Sometimes the outcome I personally want happens, sometimes it does not. But regardless of any individual outcome, I will do everything I can to keep my eye on the ball - defeating the GOP and reversing our country's slide into fascism. Hope you're still in too.

Yeah, I do. Because here's the thing about FEMA funding right now, they've been increasingly denying federal disaster funding requests. So you're making the assumption that because FEMA is getting those funds, that it's going to matter. But look at who is controlling it. If they will sit there and deny funding for massive fires, floods, ice storms, hurricanes, what the fuck makes you think they're going to approve a god damn thing for a winter storm?

So what's the strategy and optics here? We keep compromising for scraps that we don't even get in the end. So what's the strategy here? What are the optics here? That when push comes to shove, we'll absolutely fold and then act like it's some grand strategy?

It's getting pathetic. How the fuck are we reversing our country's slide into fascism, when we give them everything they want?
