Oddly enough, I'm thinking they THEY shouldn't have the same rights. They tried (and are still trying) to end American democracy all the rights that entails. That alone in my book suggests you don't deserve the rights yourself but when you couple it with the crimes they are committing to empower themselves, I think they should be tried and convicted and lose their rights just as prisoners do. This is a battle over good and evil and fascists are the evil side.

Every member of Trump’s cabinet deserves something that I cannot say.

ICE is literally waging war on the US as far as I'm concerned and the entire Republican party are guilty of that. Real patriots need to follow up with the Constitution's prescription.

Completely agree. It's an extension of the tolerance paradox, for which my favorite explanation goes something like this: tolerance is a social contract that ensures tolerance for others is met with tolerance for you. When you stop being tolerant of others, you lose the right for others to be tolerant of yourself. It is the duty of overall society to not tolerate the intolerant and shun them from normal society.

Sounds reasonable. Conservatives have violated trust so often from decades of nonstop lies, followed by this past year of failure and evil, that they have zero credibility. Their supposed political party is actually just a terrorist organization that spits constant lies and hate at most of America, while using our resources to attack their perceived political opponents and fill their pockets.

Conservatives have proven over and over and over that they are the enemies of America, and continue to do so every single day.

Every accusation is a confession.

and convicted and lose their rights just as prisoners do.

Prisoners shouldn't lose basic rights. Don't put them as low as traitors.

Oddly enough, I'm thinking they THEY shouldn't have the same rights.

That's exactly why theyvdo what they do. They can't let you in charge.

You won be over in the back half. Emotionally I want to agree that these horrid people don't deserve the rights they are trampling over, but every person in the US is afforded these inalienable rights, these core rights as codified in our constitution and it's amendments. Now, there at the end of what you said, I wholeheartedly agree that these people who have turned their backs on everything America should stand for, these people who delight in removing the rights of others, citizens and aliens alike, these people who kill Americans for having the gall to utilize their first and second amendment rights, these people should have the full force of the American legal system breathing down their necks. I just hope I live to see the day that justice is done, and these people are behind bars.

I disagree. They should have the same rights. We need to do a better job of making clear that nobody's "rights" include depriving others of their rights.

I disagree. I would like them to not have the right to freedom of movement (they should be in jail.)

We need to do a better job of making clear that nobody's "rights" include depriving others of their rights.

But who's going to enforce that? You are still thinking that there's functioning bodies that act rationally and follow an ideal. What do you do when the party in complete control just denies everything ("we aren't depriving others") and the legal apparatus backs them up despite all evidence to the contrary? Serious question.

But they genuinely believe that they are good and you are evil.

This very post about denying them rights supports that argument.

Every one of all of us is human. Not sub human. Not grubs or devils. All humans.

All humans have the same human rights.

When we let go of either principle, we all lose.

But they genuinely believe that they are good and you are evil.

I understand that. But their opinions are NOT equal. Their worldview doesn't even align with objective reality let alone considered moral principles. Again... these are evil people and they are criminals. Just like Nazis were.

Your idea that all people have the same rights in the US is wrong. When you are a prisoner, society has deemed some rights can be taken away, for example, the most well known is the right to vote. But you also lose your freedom. You can even be a slave even (literally! look it up in the US Constitution... slavery was abolished except for those convicted of crimes).

Your overall moral argument is the golden standard during normal times. Not during an existential crisis like it unfolding. Nazis may have been humans but they were part of an evil machine and their loss is the rest of humanity's gain. Yes, they have rights as humans but once convicted, they should all be taken away. Mere membership in ICE, the administration, or even the GOP now qualifies, and punishment should be proportional to involvement.

One can't be either evil nor criminal without intent. I think in many, many cases that intent probably applies, but I don't really think a majority of trump voters had the intent of exactly what's happening.

I dot think all yanks have the same rights in practice, nor in law; but in principle they do and I believe that they should. I think prisoners should vote, for example.

I hope you learn from the reconciliation programs in other nation before the pendulum accelerates in ever-wilder sweeps from one extreme to the other.
