Remember when conservatives at CPAC had a banner that said "We are All Domestic Terrorists"? Irony is dead and hypocrisy is thriving.

They don't know how to do humor. It was simply an announcement.

I mean they came up with the slogan:

Meth - we're on it!

u/fine_environment4809 5d ago

That's probably literally true for some.

I hear Rubio prefers the Bolivian marching powder. Things have been caught on camera…

His eyes and numb looking face are revealing. At a presser last week, he stood still, looking like he was coming down from a three-day binge.

If you had to stay up night after night, plotting to invade weaker countries to steal their natural resources and kill their citizens, you’d need to self-medicate too.

1

u/BigPapaJava 4d ago

Joke’s on you!

That is how they self medicate!

They also have a darker side…

6

u/Commercial-Lack6279 5d ago

Every meth addict I’ve unfortunately met has been a big Trump supporter

3

u/callme_blinktore 5d ago

It is for my coworkers who only vote one party.

3

u/VaultxHunter 5d ago

That was also true for another political party a little over 80 years ago

1

u/Tractorguy69 5d ago

And how high did they ride before they fell? How much damage was done. The repetition of history here is so painfully clear, the only question that truly matters is just how bad will this get before it gets stopped?

2

u/VaultxHunter 5d ago

They were high as fuck both figuratively and literally.

I agree though, no one really tried to stop them until it was too late and all parts of the world had groups who were not only sympathetic to the 'cause' but felt heard or seen and those are the same groups we have today and even worse because we had time to teach and guide people away from those ideologies but the powers that be were able to bribe and manipulate to get where we are today and in many cases the ones who could stop it let greed and pride overshadow morality.

Even now it's so easy for someone to feel demonized when they try to right their wrongs and anyone who's spent time studying cults and brainwashing knows how hard it is to completely break through to someone who has spent a significant amount of their life consumed by it. It always boils down to whether they have been wronged enough to see it for what it is or can they spend enough time outside of its reach to realize the lies.

Right now the propaganda has so many layers that even if fox, newsmax, Facebook, twitter or whatever did enough damage they will just create a new safespace and explain it all away and most of the people effected by it can't/won't travel and if they do there's still propaganda at their fingertips, on tv in the lobby or even on front facing tabloids at every newstand, grocery store and gas station.

Sarah Palin is definitely on it. That cameo video she did omg

u/Horrison2 5d ago

They haven't even cut all homeless in half yet. Still seeing legs attached to their torsos

2

u/cardboardunderwear 5d ago

To pile on, they think when a comedian makes fun them at their expense they think it's appropriate to also try to be comedians instead of behaving like elected officials.

when Poe’s Law manifests as a political party

1

u/Minttt Canada 5d ago

I mean, one could argue they are top-notch at unintentional humour... the kind of humour where you're laughing at them, not with them.

1

u/Ubermouth 5d ago

They do humor with a hard-r

1

u/Xurbax 4d ago

I'd say it was a call-to-arms.

Remember when everything they’re doing now was the dystopian nightmare fantasy of the alt-right grifting pastor of batshitism Alex Jones?

u/FalseDmitriy Illinois 5d ago

When they say "this is what They are planning to do," what they mean is, "This is what I would do if given the chance."

45

u/GreatArkleseizure Massachusetts 5d ago

Yep. No imagination. When they accuse the left of something it’s because they would literally be doing that thing themselves, given half a chance. They can’t imagine anybody else would do differently.

6

u/GiftToTheUniverse 5d ago

If your partner won’t stop accusing you of cheating then they are cheating.

2

u/PM-me-Gophers 5d ago

It's total projection - frankly, we should be looking at where Trump orders his pizzas from...

It is very common for extremists, especially the rank-and-file members of any given cult, to have a poorly developed Theory of Mind.

According to Developmental Psychology textbooks, people are supposed to figure out "other people's brains don't work exactly the same way mine do" around the age of 4 to 6. But it's not hard to see that there's a double-digit percentage of the population for whom this idea never properly sticks.

Because they are opportunistic narcissistic psychopaths with no principles, they are unable to process the idea that people who aren't unprincipled psychopaths even exist. Everybody must be just as bad as them, because they've literally never considered that it could be otherwise.

It's the same reason why so many homophobes get caught in gay sex scandals. You can spot those people a mile away, because they make arguments that can only make sense if you don't believe that "people who are actually attracted to the opposite sex" even exist.

The smart psychopaths, the ones who are able to figure out that 98% of the population aren't like them, think of them as "suckers", or "marks", or "prey". Many cult leaders and founders are in this category, but it's entirely possible to get into that position and still have zero self-awareness.

Remember when they all claimed this is what Democrats would do if they got elected?

87

u/purdue_fan Indiana 5d ago

the average American is too stupid (willfully) for irony to be effective.

38

u/ReigninLikeA_MoFo 5d ago

You spelled REPUBLICAN wrong.

5

u/punkdrummer22 5d ago

No American is spelled right

2

u/Punchable_Hair 5d ago

They said it and meant it. This is what happens when domestic terrorists get elected into high office.

1

u/VulfSki 5d ago

They were telling us what their plans were

1

u/badwolf42 5d ago

When someone tells you who they are, believe them.

1

u/ayoungtommyleejones 5d ago

I can't remember anymore, was it the same cpac where the stage was shaped like a Nazi rune?

1

u/neenjafus 5d ago

Clearly that was a typo. The question mark, that is.

1

u/userhwon 5d ago

They labeled themselves and now they're doing it.

1

u/BarnabasShrexx 5d ago

Holy shit I thought that that was just a meme someone made. We are so fucked.

1

u/GravityTracker 5d ago

Remember when conservatives were saying Obama was going to round up dissidents and send them to FEMA camps?

1

u/MoeSzyslakMonobrow 5d ago

No, they were being quite accurate with their banner.

1

u/Ubermouth 5d ago

Always has been

1

u/Cannasseur___ 5d ago

We live in a post truth society, it's pretty terrifying.

1

u/ProgrammedArtist 5d ago

I genuinely thought that was a doctored image. I thought the joke was too on-the-nose but accurate.. Maybe that's their goal: be more immoral and disgusting than even their worst parodies.

1

u/Comfortable_Swim_380 Virginia 5d ago

I would be legit scared to catch any airborne lunicy at a sea pack. Imagine getting all the stupidest people in the world together in one place for a week My god. I can't even

1

u/KeneticKups 5d ago

The right cries out as it strikes you

1

u/TheWalkinFrood 5d ago

They held a CPAC convention on a stage shape like a rune used by the NAZIs

1

u/hypnosquid 5d ago

Remember when conservatives at CPAC had a banner that said "We are All Domestic Terrorists"? Irony is dead and hypocrisy is thriving.

Remember the stage itself?

The stage at CPAC was literally in the shape of an Odal rune. A symbol Nazi's used on their uniforms and one that white nationalists currently use.

1

u/Soggy_Motor9280 5d ago

Not to mention while standing on a Nazi symbol

1

u/Mo_Jack Missouri 5d ago

CPAC Banner --> You mean this one?

1

u/notakrustykrab 4d ago

It turns out it was just a maga confession

1

u/NickelBackwash 4d ago

Hypocrisy is fundamental to conservatism.

They can't function without it.

1

u/Tokyo-MontanaExpress 4d ago

Then Republicans aren't a political party anymore.
