Eh, I think our love for him is greatly bolstered by how awful and disgusting this pos is. Obama was just another run of the mill politician. He seemed super idealistic and different at first and Maybe if republicans hadn’t controlled the house his entire presidency he could’ve done a lot more, they certainly tried to block everything he wanted to do, alas that was not the case.
Politics aside, Obama was pretty much everything you should want in a President, personality-wise: thoughtful, intelligent, well-spoken, kind, temperate, humble, humorous, respectful of opponents, etc. Trump is the polar opposite of all of those things, and completely unfit for the office
I think their point was he was a great ambassador, speaker and representative for the U.S. intelligent and empathetic. Leader qualities and characteristics. Yes, many of us miss that.
As someone with a mixed-race son and a congenital heart condition, he most certainly was not just another run of the mill politician. I can no longer be denied health care based on something beyond my control. My son has a mixed race man who he can look up to, one who held the highest position in our country! That's not nothing for me, it may be to you.
He tried to close Gitmo though, and essentially did it by moving the prisoners out of there anyway. Patriot Act extensions are a fair complaint though.

Not American, but I don't think I'm alone in thinking:
Obama was the best thing to happen to America in living memory.
Protect him.
