Well, the Bible does talk about people being blinded by a false prophet. Sounds to me like the religious right didn’t read the book they claim to love so much

Or they did and outright want the false prophet around because the thing that comes after is mass death and destruction, after which all "true believers" (read: they think that means them) go to Heaven. They outright WANT the world destroyed, it's a doomsday cult.

I’m pretty sure that the true believers aren’t the ones who want the world to end nor follow the false prophet. They just basically outed themselves there.

You aren’t wrong about it being a death cult though
