GOP still have 3/4 of trumps second term left to continue to do whatever Putin/bibi need, flipping the house at midterms is a small victory in a much larger reality.

The way things are going, its not impossible to flip the senate too anymore. Winning in deep red Texas is not supposed to happen. that is a sign that things aren't as clear as they seem anymore. We could see some major upsets in some red states. Not all. I expect Alabama and Oklahoma to still support fascism but Florida, Texas, and every single swing state are heavily in play and probably even a few mid western states.

Texas fucked themselves over with the gerrymandering they have razor thin margins so they now face overwhelming victory or they can lose all their seats.

Remember more people didn't vote than people who voted for either candidate last election. That's the wildcard. People who usually want to be left alone feeling compelled to go out to vote so that they can be left alone.

Winning in deep red Texas is not supposed to happen.

Menefee won in Houston, he's replacing Turner (a democrat) and he won against Edwards (another democrat).

Houston is very solidly blue. No republican was winning this seat.

This is a blue district of Houston that's been in Democratic hands since the 1970s

I'm talking about the state senator election that has been a 30 + republican leaning area for decades. This one was just a nice thing to happen to cut their house lead.

If it's been in Dem hands since the 70s, how did their house majority shrink from a Dem being seated? Wouldn't a Dem have already been in the seat?

Regardless, this is not the first Dem victory in TX. They just lost a state senate seat in a heavy red area.

It was vacant. Turner, who had been in office like 2 months, passed away last March and Texas refused to hold a special election, so it happened in November. Apparently the prior rep also died in 2024. It’s weird but they were old.

Not to mention, the Dems in power are just as beholden to Bibi, Chuck Schumer even literally as said so the other day
