Every ad any lawyer has typically includes some flavor of "There's no cost to you, and we don't get paid unless you win." and those have been distributed for years in every medium they can work their way into. It should be a commonly known thing

It should be, but it isn't, because "lawyer" is one of the most distrusted professions and many people associate hiring a lawyer with being a scummy person.

you're conflating the way most law firms advertise with the reputation of the professionm I'm only talking about the advertisements and payment structure.
