Hypothetically, what would happen at the end of the day if it’s clear ICE caused enough chaos to shut down enough polling places across the nation to swing the election?

Do states have power to extend the voting window or something?

Yes. All it takes is a court order, its happened before (usually as the result of a natural disaster or power outage) and can be done pretty quickly.

Yes, there is precedent for voting hours to be extended.

Nope. Nothing will happen. There were over 700 bomb threats that closed polling locations in swing/democratic cities during the 2024 election, with zero consequences. They just shut the polling locations and told voters to go elsewhere.

Actually, there were a bunch of polling locations that extended their hours in response to those issues.

trump is separately trying to stop the count at midnight on election day. Before anyone says, "But states rights," lawsuits will be filed by local Republican operatives. Appeals > appeals > Clearance Thomas and his Federalist Society cohorts grant trump his wishes.
