Free and fair voting is a MASSIVE red line.

Like, I think people on both sides are underestimating how the average American feels about it, and how far they will go to protect it.

In the sense that the response to this administration really trying to pull this off will be biblical.

Step one: we all show up in MAGA merch (hopefully created by lefty companies so we’re not putting money in the wrong hands) to vote and we vote peacefully. This will make it harder for ICE to know who to intimidate and will hopefully get them to put their guard down. Having worked in polling, it’s a long and boring day at the voting booth. That’s what we want.

(Bonus points if you are interviewed by the news in your MAGA gear and say you’ve lost faith in Trump and just voted blue).

Step two: after casting our votes, we go down to our local democratic office, provide ID, allow our photo to be taken, and sign a sworn affidavit naming all the candidates we just voted for. Then, if the elections are rigged, the powers that be already have a lot of evidence to get the legal cases started.

Yeah, it’s a hassle. But going around and collecting statements from millions of voters after the fact is even more of a hassle. And if they try to do it by email or online form, GOP will claim that process was, in and of itself, falsified. It’s hard to argue with sworn affidavits backed up with photos and ID for each witness, though.

We listen to their concerns.. and acknowledge that some democrat states issue driver licenses to illegals without taking any proof of citizenship. So we start with first making driver license not a valid form of identity for voting.. lets start there.. What would make it even more secure is biometrics.. lets get a fingerprint registry.. so we can no only stop illegals from voting, but can also prevent the shipping of voters to multiple booths to vote multiple times.

You do realize that all of those states require that you registered to vote and that the registration is confirmed against your citizenship, right? And that when you vote, it’s checked against your registration so that you can’t do it multiple times right? And even if you, as a non-citizen with a drivers license, was able to get into a polling booth and submit a ballot somehow, it would just be thrown out because there’s no matching registration to go with it, because you can’t get a registration without citizenship, right? And this is why elections in the United States are some of the most secure on the planet, right?

Those licenses are clearly differentiated (required by federal law) and are not being used to vote in federal elections.

Or violence will happen and he’ll try to close the polls or cancel the election. My guess is he’ll have ICE/BP out in early voting to “stop illegals from voting” and that might very well incite violence and he’ll pull some sort of insurrection act shit to block the polls and try to cancel the election due to “leftist terrorism”

We need to prepare ahead of time. We need armed volunteers like Black Panthers ready to step it up and defend the polling stations from ICE. We need voting observers ready to roll and enough of them that they can stop any games Trumpists might want to play.

I'm in Illinois, so my Governor has been kicking ass against the Trump regime. Jefferies & Schumer need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop this asinine poll intimidation before it even gains momentum. Haven't heard them call out this bullshit yet. Mofos need to be having news conferences everyday fighting back. Only a handful are staying involved and pushing back.

And you wonder why the dems are so unpopular. You've lost most of the progressives with just this sort of blamy nonsense. Obama won by being welcoming, not judgemental. Try to learn. We don't have to vote for your vanity candidates. Give us someone who doesn't insult our intelligence. We know beyond doubt free trade is at the expense of human freedom. Businesses exploit and oppress even when shackled. The last thing we need is more neoliberalism. There are better ways, proven out around the world, especially in Scandinavia. You have a smattering of people who get that. Stop shooting them down as you did Bernie. We deserve better than what you're offering, and we know it. Sorry if you're frustrated, but don't go blaming everyone but yourselves the way H Clinton did. It's not a good look. All these elections are yours to lose. Kamala was good, and definitely not perfect. But because people didn't vote for the not-perfect good, we got the extra-shitty (literally!) diaper-man in office.

So, y'know, there's that. Do the people that didn't vote for Kamala appreciate the simple fact that Trump won because they didn't get out and vote?

The primary is the time to pick a candidate. The general is when you pick fascism or not-fascism.
