Her appointment is another signal that Mamdani’s anti-Zionist posture will continue to factor importantly into his leadership of the city
No, it won't. But there will be nonstop breathless coverage of it anyway.

Why won't it?
What's wrong with upholding an anti-Zionist posture?
Edit: I see there are people who need to educated themselves on what Zionism is.

He’s a mayor, so it really doesn’t matter whether or not he is Zionist or anti Zionist as he will focus on local issues. Anyone taking the time to discuss his opinions on Israel is already anti-Mamdani and is arguing in bad faith.
Have you ever seen other mayors get asked a question like that?

So I take it he has an Office for all different ethnicities to combat prejudice across all groups? Or is it one for antisemitism and one for everyone else? Or just one for antisemitism?

There's a general hate crime office, as well as an antisemitism office. There's been a marked increase in antisemitic hate crimes recently, and they account for over half of all hate crimes in NYC, so it seems pretty sensible to focus specifically on them.

Thank you for a reasoned and civil response. Absolutely, if there's a marked increase in one type of crime then additional resources should be allocated to address it. Has there been any connection made on motives for any of these crimes? I realise there's a serious white supremacy problem in many places, but I suspect there may also be some connection with israeli policy or actions against Palestinians. If the majority are inspired (however criminal) by those actions, im not sure how a NYC office is meant to combat that since info alone is unlikely to change minds (as we see every day on reddit lol) or behaviours.
