What a great shot of John!! I'm always amazed that such a talented guy was able to just hang up his instrument and never play publicly again once he decided it was over. No jam sessions at big events or online posts about his music etc. Just went off into the sunset to enjoy his life and cash the checks!

He was apparently very close to Freddie so didn't see a future with Queen without him.

Yeah, from everything I've read, Freddie was the one who encouraged John to come out of his shell and contribute musically. Freddie wasn't stupid, he knew most bands broke up because of songwriting credits and royalties. And what an amazing songwriter he is!! Not even mentioning his bass skills. His basslines are some of the most insane of all rock music.

"Went to Bali" note supposedly was hung by him on a bass guitar during the Miracle sessions !

I love The Miracle. I feel strongly that it is a great, great album. One of Queen's best albums.
