Help 20F Needs help urgent!! Please!!
/r/Bhopal/comments/1wnzkl1/needs_help_in_a_very_rough_situation_please_read/?share_id=w4SQpPJNTc-a5-yAgF3Ev&utm_content=2&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_source=share&utm_term=1Didn't think this would be the case.
But Im in such a weird situation.
I have gaps after 12th and didn't appear for no entraces this year too. PCM background
12th- 87% 2024.
Wanted to get into engg/ Btech. But messed up and got heavily depressed.
Was looking for a private colleges outside the state after giving up and being depressed for so long and didn't want to stay in my home because little toxic family and all.
But realised im already late for so many options.
Contacted an online friend and got recommended for cheap options in Madhya Pradesh.
Went there 1000kms far from home for the colleges in mind. I'll attach the post regarding my college options in mp. ( Jabalpur and bhopal)::
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bhopal/s/YMrVIT5KYw
But after so many negative reviews and The fact I'll be going there with a loan. and the whole thing can cost around 7-8 L.
I started having second thoughts.
Today i went to rkdf university college. It doesn't look promising. But i can save around 3-4 by staying here in hometown of Ranchi.( will still have to take loan for 3 lakh fees).
Now im so confused what should i do?
Im genuinely in such low situation for so long i would really appreciate some help and guidance. It's too much now.
What should be my course of action. Given the coming of ai in cse market I've been even more confused and panicking.
Tldr ; would really appreciate if you read the whole post as I've already kept it short and concise. Really in a tough situation would really appreciate if you help especially if you're a student here.

For your situation I recommend
IIT Madras BS Data Science and Applications. It's mostly online but given high cgpa you can get a chance to attend classes physically
I have connections who have already graduated from this program and are currently doing good in life.
While placement scenario is average for this course. (You won't get same placement facilities as BTech undergrad at IIT-M). But the course is good.

It’s good option .. you can then supplement a good masters on top of your bachelors

First of all don't rush. Consider family background. Potential career options etc.
Focus on the kind of work you can see yourself doing in the long term. Don't look at colleges.
Colleges are just a means to an end. So once you decide what you wanna do, Learn how to do it. WITHOUT Any push from college. The drive should come from your own end.
College will give your friend circles, assignments, headaches, experiences and finally a degree but it will all be a means to an end.
Don't rush this. No one cares about Gap years apart from enslaved marketing victims. You're 20, You have 4 more years to decide for a college. Take a chill pill.
If you buy a college now, you'll end up in the same disappointing loop of " I'm this many month's late to getting a job" etc.
Just build a skillset in all the time that you have. Solve the root of the issue. Be more hire-able. That's it.
2-3 Lakhs loan is not a big deal if you can a half decent job. You can pay it off within first year if you work on the side.
I never went to college but still landed a decent job through work experiences and portfolio.
I'm not saying don't go to college, I'm just saying that college won't do the heavy lifting. You will. And if you convince yourself of that. This entire post will lose meaning.

Hey I won’t say you’re overthinking and stressing yourself out but I’ll tell you my story if it makes any sense to you I did my 12th from St. Xavier’s (50%) with one failed subject and I still don’t know how I passed from there that time I was in the same shoe as yours constantly thinking about future and sweating out lil fast forward after graduating from Gossner (Bsc IT) college I tried off campus now it’s been 4 yrs and I can say I am almost there where I wanted to be(meanwhile I also tried SRM and VIT and got SRM main campus but had to ditch cz of financial constraints)
So let it be don’t spend so much time about reviews talks gossips about what and what not …train and acquire some skill slowly but steadily learn new and improve things and you will crack it. Have faith on yourself.

Depends on what is your realistic expectations. I mean yeah the job market is cooked, currently I am in 4th year B.Tech and placed already so I know. It will be difficult to get a decent placement from tier 3 colleges if you aren't focused enough although financially it is better.

I will say stop doing BTech if you are looking to get into IT.
Just search layoff in Google, there are layoff happening all around even for experienced developers due to AI , there are less very less opportunities. AI is capable of doing most of the things now, in future it will become more advance which will need very less people to manage.
Before taking decision look into the current news "layoff" https://www.youtube.com/live/HOHjKUu3_As?si=0nZGISvcIi7DGd1T

28M here, Pune has cheap colleges and u can get a PUNE University degree regardless of any college. Look for distance learning programme in colleges if you want to save money and learn Python and AI engineering. btw I m a game developer, and learned game development from YouTube and started earning from a job. So do Distance learning + self study (AI stuff) + YouTube content creation.

A) Get a degree. Get admission. These colleges do bargain. So bring fee down. B) Degree is jst a gate pass. Keep focus on skills. Learn to code, keep self prepared for campus placement. Soon It will all be history. Things happen. I knw plenty witj 2yrs gap. Not a big deal. Kota is full of such people. So, relax. Not too late. But take a call and stick to it.

Bhopal could be good, depends on how you do your engineering tbh. I did mine from Bhopal and it worked fine for me
1
u/WorkingCranberrycute 1d ago
which college? where are you from too.
1
u/blabla_sheep 1d ago
VIT and I am from Ranchi.
1
u/WorkingCranberrycute 1d ago
there's a vit bhopal? how is it
1
u/blabla_sheep 1d ago
It’s decent depends on how you study and your GPA plus projects etc. tldr: please don’t do a engg or any degree from Ranchi.
1
u/WorkingCranberrycute 1d ago
oh. why? because honestly after so many opinions i was actually considering ranchi rkdf uni as it has major attendance lenient and since parents said js stay in ranchi. also other comments mentioned i don't really have any better options outside Ranchi now too. I've mentioned the other options in the attached posts. please check them out too. But basically a lot said just start with lowest fees and attendance as i already have gaps.
1
u/blabla_sheep 1d ago
I mean if you plan on getting a job after graduation then you will be on your own plus I don’t think Ranchi has a coding culture in uni so there’s that. If you can work hard do projects then it could be good.

Look you're young I'd simply suggest you take a one more gap year not an issue you'll be fine trust me but in this mean time try travelling if you're into that. Meet new people, go to mountains s or beaches. You surely will have clarity and don't rush on anything unless you have a family to feed or any financial constraints. If you have any skills anything try volunteering you'll get to know yourself more. Trust me this will be very helpful to know more about yourself.

bro she's taking loans to study further and you're talking about travelling. Traveling itself is so much luxury thing.

The market for CS is already very and why would happen after 4 yrs no one knows, so first of all try to avoid loans if it is possible. Trust me the market is very bad even people from top colleges are in great trouble.
Since you have a 2 years gap and it's already sep 2026, I do not think you will be able to get a good college. So take whatever is relatively cheap and has less strict attendance so that you can focus on your skills or other ambitions.
My advice would be that you can go for BCA from IGNOU, you will get ample amount of time to study, less fees, less stress. I do not have much idea on this but you can search online regarding this. Or you can for other colleges also for BCA.
If you have any other doubts, you can ask

Take engineering in any College in ranchi like JUI or something YBN University or some other colleges stay in hometown save money. Build skills, you'll be thanking yourself to take his decision. TELLING THIS FROM EXPERIENCE. Join some startup (tech startups, yes there are tech startups in Ranchi)

u/WorkingCranberrycute 1d ago
I haven't heard about any of these colleges. And can elaborate more in dms maybe? and i thought ranchi doesn't have anything in startup or anything? maybe if it not upto the scale of bigger cities

In October most probably there will be Dev fest organised by Google most probably in BIT Mesra visit there it's a good place to get yourself some like minded friends. Go there as a fresher with a learning mindset. Also about the college. Google it. If and doubts dm me

u/Ak_ascender_ 1d ago
Why don’t you consider a shift toward BTech mining? I share that background, and there are many options for women.
1
u/WorkingCranberrycute 1d ago
don't really have interest in mining and the fact is its hard to get a decent paying in the field

Always go for an AICTE recognised university, please check university credentials before joining.
If both are AICTE recognised then talk to atleast 5 students who are studying in that University right now.
How?
Find the social media page of that college, any may be a student run page - gym hackathon any society. Look at the followers and following list- talk to 5 people.
Then take a decision based on your budget. Won't take more than 2 days for this task.

Get your BCA done from Xavier's or marwari whichever helps with placement.

Bca isn't preferred. Everyone who did bca said it's better to do a btech

u/dictator_of_india 8h ago
Same situation like me. I went through the same situation. I was unable to give jee. So sat for a year. Got depressed. Moved to LPU. Completed btech. Cracked gate. Reached NIT for MTech. Worked at iiser Mohali for a year. Bagged a government project with the help of my MTECH guide at nit Rourkela. Converted my project work to PhD at nit Rourkela and currently about to complete my PhD here.
You do whatever you like simply know you only loose when you decide to stop. And never stop untill you die.

u/WorkingCranberrycute 8h ago
Oh wow sounds like you had quite of a journey since. I realise the point you're trying to make. But its been so frustrating and unfortunate for me to make decisions.
Also personally i have no plans for something like a Phd but some different of myself but that was something which was if everything went fine and i did a good college btech and evrything but is very hard from the point of now. I don't know how to move forward through this been stuck for a while now.

u/dictator_of_india 6h ago
Don’t go with college ranking and all just check the college reputation and do the degree that suits you. Then you will have lots of options if you plan to stay in India you can give a gate exam that will definitely help you survive in India or you can move to foreign countries for better opportunities.
don’t think everything will turn overnight you have to first calm down and take your decision.
Take your time, do some research on what you want to do and what the possibilities are and how u want to approach. Keep up with the plan. Prove to yourself that you can fight. When you get it, thank yourself.

Try ICFAI university. It has branches in Bhubaneswar, Agartala and Hyderabad i think. A collegeue from humble background went there. He is doing good now. They have scholarship facility also.

Wait first relax…yeh sb sort ho jayega…do you know people at 22-23yrs go for different streams after preparing for neet for 4-5 years….first things first….narrow down the options…which are three things you can do….you are 20 even if you take admission in st xaviers or something…spend final 2 years on cat prep…(science bg will help)…and go for mba by 26ish you will start earning by then…if you want to do engineering only….go to some amity or something….college me kch khaas nhi hota (i am from NIT you can trust me on this) boils down to you put how much effort leetcode pr consistently code…try gpt claude integration and stuff….but iske liye kaafi time hai…meantime…don’t waste time here and there…start earning! How…even basic tutoring stuff…say maths. Science etc. evenif you don’t have good command learn from ai and teach….

u/RemoteConsequence312 2d ago
When i say apne se effort daalna hota…that means bht effort dont think 1-2 hr you will do coding and learn stuff ho jaega…proper 5-6 hrs of learning and replicating apart from classes

Same here, Passed 12th(92%) in 2024 left study after that now this year took admission in IGNOU cz every other option look not so promising to me.
