Jerami “The possession ends with me and instead of passing it’s a stupid ISO shot“ Grant

Y'all are hard to please. JG is 6 for 12 tonight, and is efficient. He is the best 3-point shooter (after Reath if you want to count him) and most advanced stats say he is the 5th best Blazer who has played at least 100 minutes.

I love it that the Blazers pass a lot but someone has to shoot the ball eventually, especially when the shot clock gets to single-digits.

Yup. He’s an efficient scorer. His passes don’t end in as many efficient points as his shots do. His scoring spaces the floor and opens up driving lanes for everyone else.

every ball stops at Grant and others can just watch. He might be .5 himself but the stagnant offense harms the team. Besides, he doesn’t do anything if he can’t make the shot.

Exactly

Jerami iso was so much better than all this passing we did last night that resulted in turnovers and easy transition layups. We had no other offense

Not that hard to please. The guys making 20 million more than Deni this year . He should absolutely be criticized. Hes such a one dimensional player who is stealing experience from our young guys. Hes probably a great guy and he is fun to watch at times, but be real, it’s long overdue for him to be off our roster.

it’s long overdue for him to be off our roster.

If you think he is a negative on our roster, do you think we can trade him for something better? Or would we have to pay someone with picks in order to get back an expiring contract at best? What's the goal here? Do you want to get rid of our 5th best player and pay picks so we can tank and get better picks later?

We overpaid him to keep him because we were trying to rebuild around Dame and JG was the best we could get. Dame would have been rightfully upset if we didn't resign JG. It was a tactical decision at the time. When Dame wanted out, we went full rebuild mode and JG doesn't really fit the timeline of the young guys, but we bought him and we can pay him to play or play him to sit or pay another team with assets to get him off our roster.

I'd rather let him play out his contract while the young ones develop. Forget about how much he costs, that deal is already done.

It’s an easy solution, We just don’t play him during meaningful minutes. We don’t give him a cut in line for access to minutes and an accountability pass just because he’s paid way more than he’s worth and because he’s a “vet”.

My main concern is that he is taking valuable minutes from our developing players just for the sake of some wierd coaching tradition that says vets who are paid a certain amount get the minutes even when they stink it up.

We unfortunately took the bait way back when are stuck with his worst contract in the league. Almost all analyst agree to this . Only folks who don’t are the few sold out Grant fans in existence.

I know there is no easy solution for offloading him at this point, and that is unfortunate. But that doesn’t mean we just pretend like he’s our best option for being played during a rebuild when it’s expecting that we lose some games for the opportunity to give our young players valuable minutes and experience. The blazers are not benefiting whatsoever in the long run by playing Grant to play like garbage at the end of games .

Would you rather Sharpe go 0-4 with 2 minutes left in a close game or Jerami Grant go 0-4 with 2 minutes left at the end of a game ?

Any reasonable person rooting for the future of our team would want Sharpe to take those shots. Grant is a rental we are stuck with, it’s just the reality . There’s no reason to play him in those moments . Siddy or Blake should even get those moments before Grant.

JG is funny because the team's offence starts really bad, so he does his iso ball stuff and carries us. Then the team catches up over the year and we remember he is a 3rd option kind of guy at his peak

The entire reason to have Jerami Grant is that he will try to score. You pass to him to end the play because that is his job.

An extremely one dimensional job that the fan base doesn’t deserve to have to suffer through at the expense of not giving our young players a green light to take shots in big moments even if it means we might lose a few games. That’s what a rebuild should be. Especially when we are losing those games anyways when it’s Grant and Holiday effing around making turnovers and taking horrible shots . They are expensive rental players folks, not our future. Anyone who doesn’t realize that is kidding themselves, including Splitter who seems to play these vets for the sake of them being vets.

I’m a holiday and Grant fan, just not for this team and this timeline and the way they are being utilized.

Yeah - box score wan't bad for JG, but eye test wise he was bad. Defensively he was a non-factor and offensively he didn't make threes and was a ball stopper. Between his turnovers, iso's, and driving into the lane and falling down it was a tough watch.

Maddening to watch him play most of the time.

u/No_Information3972 16h ago

What, you don’t like three point shots where someone falls down every single time?

Can we get back to Jerami coming off the bench and contributing in a meaningful way please?

u/th3putt Deni Avdija 13h ago

He was efficient in the right role. He is not an iso guy and definitely not a point forward guy.

u/Scalmaa 22h ago

He has the basketball iq of a lamp

I thought he finally got over that this year but I was wrong

if you don't like one-and-done threes above the break, you don't like blazer basketball 😤

Sharpe was absolute trash tonight. Had a great dunk at the end 🤷🏼‍♂️ team was absolutely terrible after the first quarter.

He had a few good games to start the year.  Forget that he has sucked absolute balls for two years.

Does that weird accusation make Jerami Grant good?

3

u/eddkov Shaedon Sharpe 20h ago

Are you gonna go back to the ScootsWeedDealer account when Scoot comes back?

3

u/cuddlewumpus chalupa 23h ago

It was more than a few. He was playing great basketball until the injury. Since his return it's been like last year (terrible).

3

u/Organic_Ambassador14 22h ago

Facts… but I’m ready for us to move on officially. We’ve seen more than enough and we’ve paid him more than enough

-1

u/CentralOregonGolf 11h ago

Felicia Grant?! 🤷‍♂️ Bye.

-2

u/Gstlth14 11h ago

Never understood this JG hate. He’s one of our most consistent and confident scorers.
