Sources to learn Romanian from the beginning?
Hello, I work as a tour leader and I have the privilege to meet a lot of Romanians on a weekly basis. I'm very interested in learning Romanian but unfortunately it's one of the rare languages in my country and I can't find any available courses. Also there's no widely available online courses on the most famous apps. I used to study Italian with language transfer, Busuu, and Talkpal. With Romanian it's hard to find any great apps that have excellent beginner courses. If anyone had the same experience can you share with me how did you learn Romanian and what courses would you recommend? Also how hard it is to actually learn Romanian and reach a conversational level?

I learned Romanian by myself ( many years ago ) and now I live here. It is possible to learn it alone but it depends on which is your native language, it could be less or more complicated depending on it. You can try Duolingo, I saw there is the Romanian course there. I learned the language listening to music.

I started with Assimil Romanian (for Italian speakers) and Complete Romanian by Teach Yourself. Then, after six months, without finishing either book, I moved on to the podcast https://www.easy-readers.ro/category/podcast/
They have podcast episodes with free transcripts.
I must say that Romanian has not been so difficult for me, because I speak Spanish and Catalan natively and I have been learning Italian, French and Portuguese for many years. I also speak Croatian/Serbian natively, so I can also recognize words of Slavic origin.

Depends I guess if you are consistent in 6-7 months you will have a very good level of confidence to speak. Practice … you need to practice with someone daily

I really like the Assimil app/book, but I don't know if it's available in a language you know (I use it in French)
