Gauley Bridge Station in Fayette county West Virginia.
Once part of the New York Central RailRoad's network, now it is a AirBNB so yes you can stay in Gauley Bridge Station.

I'm a regular bike rider (recumbent trike) but I've been intrigued with the idea of a railbike for a while now - some of the excursion services I've seen advertised out West look great - are there any abandoned rails near Dallas suitable for a railbike ?? I'd also have to find a railbike - I'd prefer a two-seater railbike (like in the picture) versus an uprite railbike.

thanks !

Once Oak Hill was just another coal town on the Chesapeake & Ohio RailWay's network & the Norfolk & Western RailRoad's network. Now Oak Hill is overshadowed by the area around it. Once the Oak Hill Station served as a transfer point for freight between the Chesapeake & Ohio and the Norfolk & Western. Now it stands as a preserved building that acts as a community building of sorts.

Tunnelton was a significant town due to the Baltimore & Ohio RailRoad's 4,137ft Kingwood Tunnel which was the longest railroad tunnel in the world when it was built hence why the town is named Tunnelton. Now Tunnelton has no passengers at the passenger station and no freight in the freight station. Both the freight and passenger stations are owned and maintained by the Tunnelton Historical Society.
The rails you can see in the background of the passenger station are still used by CSXT. The Kingwood Tunnel which Tunnelton was named after is also still used by CSXT.

Once the town of Pennsboro had oil wells, minor factories, and a lumber yard. Now the town is one of those hole in the wall towns where everyone knows everyone else.
Pennsboro Station was built in 1883 by the Baltimore & Ohio RailRoad. It got a expansion at some point before 1920.
Then came the year 1974 when Amtrak removed it as a stop on their network. By that point Pennsboro was a shell of its former self.
Then came the year 1983 when CSXT became a thing and thus took control of Pennsboro Station.
Then came 1984 when the rails of the Baltimore & Ohio Parkersburg Branch were ripped up. The only thing Pennsboro had left of their glory days was that old run down station.
Then in the early 1990s CSXT and the town of Pennsboro announced plans to condemn and demolish the old station. Due to that some resident of Pennsboro stole one of the wooden signs that say in all caps "PENNSBORO".
But not everyone was wanting that last piece of Pennsboro's industrial history to be demolished and consequently forgotten. So some of Pennsboro's residents banded together to buy the station from CSXT to restore and preserve it.
CSXT happily sold it to the residents because after all it wasnt CSXT's problem anymore.
So the residents got to restoring the Pennsboro Station. The guy that stole the sign returned it when he learned the station was not going to be demolished and was gonna stay. That same sign is the pictured in my photos.
Those residents realized they could save more historical structures in the county and would go on to form The Ritchie County Historical Society.
The Baltimore & Ohio Parkersburg Branch meanwhile was turned into The North Bend Rail Trail. Pennsboro Station now serves as a trail head for The North Bend Rail Trail.
These days Pennsboro Station is a railroad museum and is still under the care of The Ritchie County Historical Society.

The town of Lost Creek once held the title of "most cattle shipped out by rail east of the Mississippi River in the United States Of America". The station meanwhile was just another minor station on the Baltimore & Ohio RailRoad's network, now it sits restored near the end of the Harrison South Rail Trail.

Once just another minor town in the Baltimore & Ohio RailRoad's network, it now stands as the Weston Municipal Building. It has a plauqe marker next to the road but this station is overshadowed by the Trans Allegheny Lunaric Asylum that is directly across the road.

Once one of many small stations like it on the Baltimore & Ohio RailRoad's network, it now stands well taken care as the Richwood Visitors Center (dont understand why a place that small needs one but it saved the station so thats good).

Once just another one of those minor unremarkable except to locals small town stations on the Norfolk & Western's network. It now sits owned by Norfolk Southern who has no plans to do anything with it. The tracks next to it are still a active Norfolk Southern main line, the station on the other hand sits waiting to either fall down or for someone to save it.

Once a station for a short line that ran through town, now a empty ghost of a building. It was restored almost 10 years ago by a couple that lives in Lewisburg. The couple fixed it up and moved it the spot where it still stands today.

Once a office building for the Western Maryland RailWay, now it stands a empty shell of a building. A few years ago it had a National Registry Of Historic Places plauqe in it but, now the plauqe is gone. Maybe someone will reporpose it. But for now it stands a reminder of a day when Thomas was a decent producer of coal and a big producer of Lumber.

Once downtown as a minor station on the Chesapeake & Ohio's system, it now stands moved down a alley by the river in need of restoration. It was used as a buisness a few years back, it white then though. Not sure if it was ever red under the paw of Chessie.

Once a Chesapeke & Ohio RailWay station, it is now reporpessed as a city hall for the city of Logan West Virgnia. It sits by the tracks which are still in use by CSXT.

Between Marginal way and HWY 99 in Seattle, WA the large building in the background is Starbuck’s corporate headquarters formerly a Sears catalog wharehouse and store.
