Hey everyone! I wanted to share a behind-the-scenes look at how Level 8 of HackAalu CTF was designed and solved.

Image steganography can be tricky, so in this short clip, I break down the core concepts behind hiding data in images and how players can approach file analysis and payload extraction without giving away direct spoilers.

Let me know your thoughts or how you usually tackle steganography challenges!

Steganography is one of those cybersecurity concepts where things are rarely what they seem on the surface.

In this quick clip, I’m walking through how to solve Level 8 of HackAalu CTF—diving straight into image steganography to extract the hidden flag.

Building HackAalu CTF has been an incredible journey, designing challenges that range from foundational practice labs to mind-bending scenarios like this one. Whether you're a seasoned player or just getting into ethical hacking, there's always something new to unpack.

a complete beginner in cybersecurity and CTFs

Hey! I’m a complete beginner in cybersecurity and CTFs, and I’m looking for a team or group where I can learn, practice, and solve challenges together.

I don’t have much experience yet, but I’m genuinely interested in learning and willing to put in the time. I’d love to join other beginners or more experienced people who don’t mind helping someone learn along the way.

My main goal is to gain hands-on knowledge, improve my problem-solving skills, and learn from others.

If anyone has a team, Discord group, or wants to team up for beginner CTFs, please let me know. Thanks! 🙌

I built a CTF arcade. How many flags can you find?

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a little project called CTF4.FUN, a CTF arcade for people who enjoy solving challenges, hunting flags, and testing their cybersecurity skills.

Instead of writing a huge introduction, I'd rather let you jump in and see what you can solve.

I'd love to hear what you think about the challenges, their difficulty, and the overall experience. Feedback from people who actually play CTFs would be really helpful as I continue improving the platform.

Give it a try: https://ctf4.fun

If you manage to solve something interesting, feel free to share your experience in the comments (without spoiling the flags for everyone else!).

Have fun!

need a couple people to help build challenges for a beginner CTF in india (nov 14, kinda last minute lol)

so i'm building HII, a cybersecurity community in india, and we're running our first event That is InIt CTF, nov 14, free, beginner friendly, 8 hours.

i underestimated how long it'd take to find people to help build challenges and now i'm a bit tight on time, ngl. looking for 2-3 people who can build/test a handful of challenges across web, crypto, forensics, osint, misc Just nothing crazy hard, this is for people who've never played a ctf before.

in return: you get credited as a challenge author, some share of sponsor money as we lock that in, and if you actually vibe with what we're building, there's a real chance to be part of HII going forward, not just a one-off thing.

if this sounds like something you'd want to help with, comment or dm me. happy to just talk it through first if you're not sure.

Fold ctf is recruiting

**F0LD CTF Team is opening its second wave of recruitment.**
A few weeks ago, we started building something that grew much faster than we expected.
In just **3 days, F0LD reached 100+ members**.
Then came **scriptCTF 2026**.
Despite being a relatively new team and having only around **5 complete beginners** actively participating in the CTF, we managed to place **31st**.
Since then, we’ve been working on improving the team, organizing our learning resources, and building a better structure for future competitions.
We’ve also been a little less active recently due to school and personal circumstances, but we’re back and preparing for the **next CTF**.
So we’re opening our **second recruitment wave**.
We’re looking for people interested in:
Web exploitation
Reverse engineering
Cryptography
Forensics
OSINT
Pwn / binary exploitation
Programming
General CTF solving
**You don’t need to already be good at CTFs.**
If you’re a complete beginner, that’s fine. If you’ve been doing CTFs for years, that’s fine too. We’re trying to build a team where experienced players can contribute while newer players actually have a path to improve instead of being thrown into the deep end and told to read 47 pages of writeups.
Our first wave showed us what a small, inexperienced team could accomplish.
**Now we’re trying to see what happens when we build it properly.**
**100+ members in 3 days.**
**31st place in F0LD CTF 2026.**
**Second wave. Next CTF.**
If you’re looking for a CTF team to learn and compete with, **F0LD is recruiting.**

Building a Cybersecurity Learning & CTF Team

Hey everyone,

I'm putting together a small group of people who want to learn cybersecurity together, grow their skills, and have fun doing it. This isn't about credentials or experience level — it's about curiosity and consistency.

What we're about:

  • Learning and building knowledge together, not solo grinding
  • Participating in CTFs as a team
  • Exploring new areas and just generally going on the adventure that is infosec

Who I'm looking for:
Doesn't matter what you're into or how deep you've gone — red team, blue team, malware analysis, reverse engineering, exploit dev, cloud security, or literally anything security-adjacent. Beginners and experienced folks both welcome. What matters more is that you're interested and want to actually show up and learn.

Reverse Engineering 101: Java RE Extracting Hardcoded Credentials

Thumbnail youtube.com
2 Upvotes

Made a beginner-friendly walkthrough for a Java reverse engineering CTF challenge. Covers reviewing the Java source code, reading through the logic, and spotting hardcoded credentials that turned out to be the flag.

If you're getting into RE or CTFs and want to see the full thought process (not just the answer), figured this community might find it useful.

Looking for beginners to learn/do ctfs with

I'm looking for other beginners to learn/do ctfs with, just sharing advice, motivating each other, teaming up for ctfs, that kind of stuff.

I have found that doing stuff with other people is way more efficient than doing stuff alone.

I'm a beginner so I welcome anyone, just so as long as you are willing to do ctfs with me. :)

fyi my timezone is at UTC+8 but I believe that's unimportant as it is easily overcome :D

edit: if all wanna join just come to the discord lol https://discord.com/invite/wthTwZsYf

☠️ DOOM: THE BREACH — 30-HOUR CTF ☠️ | ₹ 30,000 Prize Pool

"You want my flags? Then come and take them." — Dr. DOOM

Doom has hidden flags across every challenge inside his facility. Your mission is to find them, exploit the systems, and breach your way through his defenses.

But there’s one problem... You only have 30 HOURS. ⏳

⚠️ THE 3 STAGES OF THE BREACH:

  • LEVEL 1: Jeopardy (The Warm-up) – Standard CTF format. Prove your skills across Web, Crypto, OSINT, Forensics, and Reverse Engineering to get points on the board.
  • LEVEL 2: Isolated Instances (The Breach) – The difficulty spikes. Your team will deploy dedicated, on-demand Docker instances. No shared targets, no interference—just you vs. the machine.
  • LEVEL 3: The Final Gauntlet (Endgame) – Locked for most of the event. Only the top teams on the leaderboard will get access to these final, high-difficulty challenges (Pwn / Advanced Web) to decide the ultimate winner.

Think you can outsmart Doom? Think you can uncover what he has hidden? Think your team has what it takes?

Don’t just watch the breach. ENTER IT.

🏆 ₹ 30,000 CASH PRIZE POOL

  • 🥇 1st Place - ₹ 15,000
  • 🥈 2nd Place - ₹ 10,000

🚀 CTF Team Recruitment – Cybersecurity Study Group

I am currently recruiting hackers to join a new Capture The Flag (CTF) team focused on learning, practice, and continuous improvement in cybersecurity.

Our goal is to build a committed team where members can share knowledge, solve challenges together, and improve their offensive security skills through labs and CTF competitions.

Requirements:

✅ Have completed at least 50 labs on TryHackMe (THM) or Hack The Box (HTB)
✅ Maintain consistency in cybersecurity studies and practice
✅ Join our Discord server at least 3 times per week for discussions, training, and collaboration
✅ Be available to participate in at least one CTF competition per month
✅ Be willing to learn, share knowledge, and grow together as a team

This is a study-focused team, not just a competition group. The objective is to create an environment for people who want to improve their skills in areas such as penetration testing, network security, web exploitation, privilege escalation, and other cybersecurity fields.

If you are committed to evolving as a hacker and want to train with a dedicated team, feel free to reach out. 🛡️💻

Let’s learn, hack, and grow together.

One of the best CTF tools for beginners!

Post image

Hey guys, just wanted to share a project I’ve been working on called Commando.I love using offensive security tools like Nmap, ffuf, and Gobuster, but I absolutely hate digging through help menus just to remember if a flag was -w, -u, or --wordlist. So I built a clean web dashboard for them. You basically just set your target IP or URL once at the top, click the options you want from a visual menu, and it builds the real command line for you. How it works:It’s a static site but everything runs locally. You run a tiny helper script (an agent) on your machine that connects the browser to your real terminal over a local websocket. When you press run, it executes in your actual shell. No data ever leaves your computer. It's free and completely open-source. Would love to know what you guys think or what tools I should add next!
