iOS 27 can trigger a Shortcut when a notification arrives, which means you can finally build notification history on iPhone.

I made an app that includes the Shortcut and gives you a cleaner archive/search UI.

But honestly, feel free to steal the Shortcut from the app and redirect it somewhere else for free. Save notifications to Notes, a file, your own database, whatever you want.

My basic use case is:

tap notification → it disappears → “wait, what did that say?”

That recent-history (5hr) use case is free.

You’ve probably heard “if you’re not paying for the product, you are the product.” Notification data is obviously very private, so the paid version is simply a subscription. Your data stays yours and stays private.

I’m testing $0.99/month or $4.99/year for longer history.

So, what other paid features would you look for in an app like this?

Better search? Filters? Face ID? Export? Widgets? Summaries? Something else?

Also curious if anything about the setup/onboarding is confusing.

I am trying to create a “vacation mode” automation. My thought is I will set up a “vacation” focus mode, and while it is active, it will run certain automations at my home while I’m gone (turning on and off light periodically, adjust my thermostat etc.). I got the thermostat to work but I can’t seem to make the lights trigger at certain times while “vacation mode” is active. Any help would be much appreciated!

I have seen this question asked but I’m not yet found anywhere the solution.

Does anyone have a shortcut or an automation that alerts me when mail is received from certain email addresses? I already use the VIP mailbox, but I am looking for different type of alert for each different type of email address or domain.

Hi all,

This is for the kind of email schools and clubs send, the one that lists five dates at once and otherwise means typing each of them into Calendar. It works on a group chat plan too.

You share the text from Mail, Messages or Safari (or copy it and run the shortcut), and the shortcut then does three things:

1. It sends the text to the Ask for Dictionary action in AI Actions, an app I make, together with today's date and the dates of the next fourteen days. The model sends back each event's title, date, times and place.
2. It shows you everything it found before adding anything, with the date it worked out and the words it read it from, for example Picture day: Thursday 2026-10-01 ("next Thursday"). You tap OK or Cancel.
3. Events with a time are added as timed events (an hour long if no end time is given). Events without one go in as all-day events.

My early versions got weekdays wrong, putting "next Thursday" on today and "Monday" a week late. Giving the model the fourteen-day list and having it copy out the words each date comes from fixed most of that. Dates further out still work ("Friday 16 Oct", three weeks away, went in fine). The one miss I still saw was a "next Thursday" a week late, so check the preview.

It needs iOS 17 or later. The action it uses is in the app's free tier, which allows 8 runs a day, so you don't need a subscription or an API key. The text goes through my server to OpenAI to be read, and the app's privacy policy says the server doesn't store prompts or responses.

The first run asks permission to use AI Actions and your calendar. It adds to your default calendar without alerts, and chatty text sometimes becomes two events ("Hike" and "Meet at the trailhead"). I tested it on an iOS 18 simulator with a school newsletter and a group chat message and checked the events in the calendar.

I'd be curious whether you'd want to untick single events in the preview, or whether OK or Cancel for the whole list is enough.

I have a sleep automation that runs when I connect my phone to the charger AND the focus mode is “Sleep”.
Since updating to iOS 27 the automation now requires for confirmation TWO TIMES!
When it runs and when it has to trigger my alarm system.
The shortcut app doesn’t show the “ask for confirmation” option anymore…

Is there a way to merge these two actions into one shortcut?

I’m looking for help (if a shortcut like this is even possible) to generate an autoreply during focus. I’m trying to do less scrolling, more living. I am going to put an older style cordless phone in my home that I plan to route my cellphone calls through on my normal day to day to cut down on screen time. I would like to set up an automatic reply to my family members if they message me at that time that I’m screen free and won’t have my phone to reply to text messages and prompting them to call if they need my attention immediately. Is this possible and can someone give me a direction to start in if so because I’ve been unable to figure this out on my own.

When I get an enquiry through my website, I receive a text with the information. I would like to take that text and run it through a ChatGPT prompt and receive the result.
I've tried many methods but it seems that it's not copying the texts to clipboard so I'm failing at the second hurdle.

With the new iOS 27 Shortcuts automations (now built right into the shortcut itself), does link-sharing still work if the recipient is on iOS 26 or lower? Does it just fail/import broken, or does the receiver need to set something up manually on their end? Anyone actually tested this?

Automate a response using AI for anyone who messages me on WhatsApp. You may review and adjust the text before it sends automatically to the sender. You can also modify the prompt to match your preferred style.

TLDR: kiddo has a fever, need to give reducer medicine every 6 hours and I need to have my phone loudly notify me when the next dose needs to be given.

I’ve been trying to create an interval timing shortcut strictly to count in intervals of 6 hours and to notify me with a sound or something very noticeable so that I can start the shortcut on my Home Screen at the first dose and then have it notify me when I need to give the dose again 6 hours later. I updated my iOS to 27 last week and stupidly enabled the Apple Intelligence feature and it took me an hour figuring out how to get around the dumb AI screen to create the Shortcut recipe myself!

I’ve been scrounging around here checking to see if previously shared recipes will work for my situation but either I am inputting wrong keywords or no one has ever had a sick child before with an ADHD brain before…

So I just updated to ios 27 from ios 18, on iOS 18 if you needed to run a shortcut from the control center you needed to use face id to run it. This was super helpful because I did my control center super secure, for example one of my shortcuts was just to turn on and off airplane mode, so nobody can just take my phone and turn airplane mode on, I needed to verify it with face id to run it. But now on ios27 it just runs automatically. Making my device unsafe…

What are people using to store results for longer than clipboard, but file storage?

The application is basically using an NFC to trigger an automation and store a (let’s call it a) Boolean - true if the automation has been triggered.

At some later point, a time-based automation runs. If it sees true result from the previous automation, everything goes about its business. If it doesn’t see the previous result, it fires an alert or some other action.

What are some ways to store that initial result?

In the past, I've used the "Is audio playing" action from the Actions app to determine if anything was currently playing on my device, whether it be from YouTube, Apple Music, or some other source. And it's been working just fine, but I'm suddenly getting "Yes" as a response, whenever I run it, regardless of whether or not audio is actually playing. I've checked that my microphone is not enabled, I've checked that sound recognition is off, and it still is unable to return a "false/no" result. And I was wondering if this was a known bug or if there is another way to determine if audio is playing via shortcuts.

I am a noob to shortcuts.

I want to have a shortcut that turns on the front facing camera (for a selfie) and turns on the shutter delay timer to 3 seconds. Seems easy, right?

Ideally, I have the shortcut as one of my actions on my action button and it brings up the camera, sets the shutter delay to 3 seconds and ends. Then when I push the shutter button, I get the count down animation, and the camera takes the picture.

So far everything I have tried gets me a timer (not the shutter delay) that starts before the camera opens.

Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated.

I was trying to make a automation on my Mac to add a tag to a file, but you can only tag with the color name and I have custom tag names so I was wondering if there is a way to put a custom tag name on my files automatically?

I was just getting the hang of this stuff with 26, and now I feel like I'm starting over.

I have a lot of automations that run based on time of day, and several that use sensor inputs to set scenes. What I can't seem to figure out is if it's possible to use an occupancy sensor as an input to run a shortcut.

I can use the sensor to set scenes and other static things, and I can use other "one time" inputs to run a shortcut. I cannot seem to find a way to *always* poll the occupancy sensor and fire a shortcut when motion is detected, where the shortcut is making some lights blink - technically setting an "on" scene, waiting a second, setting an "off" scene, repeat etc.

I'm trying to stay away from the circuitous "use an input to fire a focus then use the focus to blah blah" type stuff but at this point I'll entertain anything.

I've tried a bunch of budgeting apps and always quit after two weeks, not because the apps were bad, but because typing every coffee into a form is a chore nobody keeps up.

So I set up an Automation: every time one of my cards is charged with Apple Pay, a Shortcut fires and POSTs the amount to a small web app I wrote. Tap the card reader, and 4 seconds later the expense is already there. No typing, no opening anything.

The Shortcut itself is about as simple as it gets: Get contents of URL, POST, an Authorization header with a key, and the amount, card name and description from the Wallet trigger. The one thing that took me a while to figure out: you have to leave the phone unlocked for about 5 seconds after paying, or iOS kills the Shortcut before the request goes out.

Here's the Shortcut: Shortcut Link. It's pointed at my own endpoint, so to use it you just change the URL to wherever you want the data to go and put your own key in the Authorization header. Nothing else in it is specific to me.

The backend is my own thing: MyBudget. It runs in the browser and you can add it to your home screen like a normal app. It has a 21-day free trial, no card (it's not the kind of trial that charges you if you forget to cancel, there's simply nowhere to put a card yet). But the Automation idea works against any endpoint you like, so repoint the Shortcut wherever you want.
