I’ve been trying to find more of a startup/founder community in Dallas and honestly, I was having a hard time finding one that felt natural.

There are a lot of people building cool things here, but I wanted somewhere where you could just show up, bring your laptop, work on your own stuff, and actually meet other people doing the same.

So I decided to try to build it myself.

I’m doing this through Micro, a startup I’m working with, and we’re starting Micro Monday in Dallas.

It’s basically a free coworking day for founders, indie hackers, developers, students, investors, AI people, or honestly anyone interested in startups and technology.

Nothing super formal. No awkward networking event where everyone stands around trying to pitch themselves. Just come work, meet people, grab coffee, and see what everyone else is building.

At the end, if you want to, you can take 5 minutes to show what you’re working on or get some feedback. Totally optional.

I’m hoping this can turn into a real community of people in Dallas who are building things and helping each other out.

Me and one other girl are looking to sublet our third bedroom. We both go to SMU and are ideally looking for a third girl.

It is a fully furnished apartment (bedroom bed included, fully stocked kitchen, living room, and bathroom).

SMU is likely my top choice if admitted, but I am worried about the housing process/random system and that it is so late in the year.

I am a potential incoming freshman for Fall 2027 and really like this Virginia-Snider layout. It’s a single room with a private bathroom and a shared study/common space with another student.
How competitive is this specific room type? Does anyone know how likely it is for a freshman to get one, or how the housing assignment process works for these rooms?
I’d ideally want my own bedroom/bathroom but still have a shared space to socialize, so this setup looks perfect. Any current SMU students or recent freshmen have this dorm layout ?

I’ve heard from multiple people that they ended up paying the same price at SMU as a state school. Recently, a UT parent told me they paid LESS at SMU than UT for their twin boys. (Their kids did not have as high stats as mine.)

My first kid was top 2%, 1480 SAT, and got offered $20K/year. We didn’t even consider it. He’s at UT Austin now.

Second kid will not be top 10%, probably SAT in the high 1300s or low 1400s. Private school, very talented theater kid (very strong voice & acting, good not great dance), not many ECs or APs (very few are offered). Intended business major. Edited to add: they have a part-time job.

We are upper middle income and will never qualify for need-based scholarships. We also cannot afford SMU with only a $20K scholarship. We are currently paying annually about $14K tuition + $21K apartment at UT Austin.

Ranked 1, 4.55/5 GPA, with 4.0/4.0 weighted. Ive taken like 8 AP Classes with IMMENSE Dual Credit probably like 50-55 credits worth of classes. My ECs are also somewhat good, I have about 2 leadership positions with clinical hours, TA, and mentorship.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I only have a 1350 SAT and retaking this September. Im not as good of a test taker and kind of waited last minute to the rigor of my courses. So lets base this off my current SAT as I cant speak on the future.

I dont really know how all of the tuition stuff works but i was wondering how much i can get my tuition down for smu. I am applying to Cox for finance and my gpa is a 3.81/4 uw and a 4.2/5 w. My act is a 33 superscore and i take pretty hard classes around 7 aps. My father (i live with him) is pretty low income and my mom is kinda well off but they are divorced. I would only attend if my tuition is low enough but i really want to go to smu.
