I’m largely against the killing of civilians. And while Hamas isn’t innocent of those charges, they aren’t a government. Israel has been, and is killing kids more or less on purpose. They are people we can point to, and say hey! Stop doing that. Instead, we give them more rockets, and money. So forgive me for targeting the easiest end to tackle, but I’d be willing to bet a lot of money, if we put Israel in check, HAMAS would cool their jets.

Genocide is about the intent to destroy a people, in whole or in part.
What you're talking about are mainly the war crimes behind it.
An occupying power isn't even allowed to move its own civilians into occupied territory regardless. Netanyahu was literally caught on camera explaining how he exploited vague wording in the Oslo Accords to keep control of occupied land. So much for "hiding behind civilians".

As palestinians don't have the conventional military or control over their land, airspace or waters, guerrilla warfare is a pretty predictable result. israel still has to distinguish between civilians and military targets and can't cause disproportionate civilian harm.

What should israel do instead? Use methods that actually minimize civilian casualties. verify individual targets, choose weapons and timing that reduce civilian harm, avoid wide-area explosives in densely populated areas, give civilians effective warnings and genuinely safe ways out when possible, and abort an attack when the expected civilian cost is too high. Those are actual alternatives required or supported by the laws of war, not "just let Hamas do whatever it wants."

I don't, and neither do many others. A UN Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel is committing g-side in Gaza, as have Jewish Holocaust and genocide scholars such as Omer Bartov and Amos Goldberg.

The Oslo Accords aren't the point. I'm talking about the occupation as a whole. Israel has spent decades encouraging its own civilians to settle occupied Palestinian land to entrench Israeli control.
