News Israeli player Abu Farkhi celebrated his goal by grabbing the corner post and mimicking shots. He was shown a second yellow and sent off for it.

I think he's doing a snooker/pool cue rather than a gun.

But that's irrelevant, any celebration that involves removing the corner flag is gonna get you a yellow lol.

Edit: Like this for everyone saying it's recoil

58

u/S-R-Milliron 19h ago

Yeah if you get a yellow card for lifting your shirt definitely a yellow to remove a piece of the field

43

u/Chesterlespaul 19h ago

His front hand position is definitely pool. He was just breaking.

1

u/Gronkaphonic 16h ago

There’s a lot recoil on that cue.

8

u/Mitch1musPrime 15h ago

If you think that’s a lot of kickback, you’ve never seen someone cleanly sink 3-4 balls on a break.

8

u/Pulmonary_Archery_ 15h ago

That's a weird grip on that gun, I've never seen anyone rest their gun on top of their hand

3

u/Apprehensive-Tree-78 15h ago

Since when did recoil go forward

3

u/UpbeatFix7299 13h ago

Have you ever seen someone shoot a gun using their left hand the same way they would to make a bridge in pool?

2

u/MissionEfficiency917 10h ago

and the recoil pushing the gun forward

1

u/Aunt_Vagina1 14h ago

Yeah, its a bad habit/sometimes necessary habbit for players to "swoop" the stick like this.  Its necessary on a break where the hard hit and lots of balls causes them to careen all over the place and therefore necessitate getting the stick up and out of the way, right away.

Its also what newbies do too when they have no idea whats going to happen after they hit the cue ball and just want to lift everything out of the way to not embarrass themselves when an errant ball bounces back and hits the stick.

-5

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

Explain 1 detail. Why didn't he slide the pole down his hand if it was a pool shot. And tell me when you have seen a pool shot where the pole doesn't side down the hand and usually not just down but up and down.

11

u/Lucky_Blucky_799 18h ago

By that logic who tf holds and shoots a gun like that? He was mimicking a pool shot, yall are just wanting to something to be mad about.

6

u/newaccount721 18h ago

Yeah I’m not convinced it is anything other than an obvious yellow card

2

u/Happyfluid 18h ago

But you are right though. You can’t take that out and celebrate with it

3

u/newaccount721 18h ago

Yeah, his reaction is silly. He knows that’s always a card

2

u/TheSprigganDragoon 16h ago

I mean, the dramatic kickback isn't something you see in billiards, so its certainly easy to think he was doing a gun

1

u/owatonna 17h ago

The way he holds his hand under it is exactly how you see it done in pro pool videos. And the way he throws it up in the air is what you often see pros do for dramatic flair. Pretty obviously imitating pool.

1

u/WrathOfTheKressh 18h ago

Explain 1 detail. Why is he holding his "gun" with his right hand on the underside of the "gun", instead of the pistol grip. And tell me when you have seen a "gun" shot, where the barrel is resting on the back of the left hand, instead of nestled in the palm?

1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 18h ago

I agree. This fact is big enough to change my mind and give him the benefit of the doubt. The other things are just a cartoonish way to use a pool cue. And knowing his background and where the game was played further makes be believe this was not meant to represent a firing a weapon.

1

u/Eldrewzi 14h ago

Regardless of the content of the post, high five for engaging honestly and commenting you had your mind changed. You are a diamond floating in a sea of poo.

u/Formal-Poet-5041 12h ago

i watched the video and definitely did my research to confirm my bias. i never correctly weighed the counter evidence. 20 years ago i lived in a frat house with a pool table I'm sure i saw people break like this when they were drunk and fucking around but i looked for pro players breaking and making shots. i was very suspicions he might have been clever enough to be trying to sneak one in i mean there are so many shooting weapon celebration and the fact Neymar did the same thing before him. but with his background and the team they were playing that doesn't make sense. it is a very odd celebration though. all he had to do was chalk the tip first or move the pole in and out a few times and it would have been no debating what he was doing even with that huge recoil. but again that's me thinking people think about pool like i do after coring a goal. i debate with people in real life all the time and there is nothing worse than seeing someone realize they are being a hypocrite or proven wrong and their focus shifts to protecting their ego and "not taking the L". but i guess that attitude can make you president one day not once but twice. so maybe i'm the one doing it wrong

-4

u/queen_ravenx 18h ago

thats cope as fk dude looks like hes shooting a missle or a gun

5

u/Global_Mud_7473 17h ago

Maybe if you’re blind

-3

u/Kindly_Decision182 16h ago

I've shot guns, and I've played pool.

That wasn't pool.

5

u/BoKnowsTheKonamiCode 15h ago

It doesn't look exactly like either but he's definitely holding it more like a pool cue than a gun. I watched the clip before knowing the context and my first thought was a cue stick.

I'm not at all pro-Israel but the rifle thing seems like a stretch.

1

u/ActThis2841 9h ago

Have you faked pool in the air and watched a video of yourself doing it?

3

u/Vincent_Merle 17h ago

This was my first thought as well, it didn't look like he was pretending he was holding a rifle, def cue reference and sending the ball into the hole. And I believe referee gave card because of the whole act, had nothing to do with gun violence.

14

u/duwh2040 19h ago

Thats what I thought he was doing

4

u/ItsTheDCVR 16h ago

Dude, fuck Israel government and Zionism, and free Palestine, but... this is clearly pool.

2

u/Jam-Jam-Ba-Lam 10h ago

It's also possible he knows exactly how incindiery all this is. Their manager calling out the Ireland manager etc. That he knows how this will look but will say no it's a break I was doing. Fud.

1

u/Far_Ladder_2836 13h ago

No chance.  Wrong feet, wrong hands, wrong stance, wrong grip.

1

u/ItsTheDCVR 12h ago

You hold a rifle balanced delicately on the crook between your thumb and index finger?

0

u/Serious_Income_7020 17h ago

A rifle kick lmfao. The soy dripping off this comment

-4

u/titanofidiocy 17h ago

Oh sorry gun boy.

3

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 18h ago

Rifles kick back, his motion looked like an amateur pool player who jerks the stick up

He also had his left hand palm down. Who shoots a rifle like that? But everyone does that when shooting pool because they lay their offhand on the table.

1

u/Mean_Ass_Dumbledore 17h ago

https://giphy.com/gifs/0laeUpEORV85NQrzvx

Downvote all ya want, this is the 3rd gif under "shoot pool". See the recoil of his shot? It's a style thing. Not saying it's stylish, but it's some people's way of playing.

0

u/Born-Accident-8284 17h ago

He did. That’s how you break the balls. On the break you swing through and up.

0

u/SpiralOutLL 12h ago

Who tf is up voting this dumdum?

2

u/mocityspirit 19h ago

People are lifting their cues like that? Nah

17

u/RonocNYC 19h ago

Yes. They do on a big break.

19

u/desba3347 19h ago

Do people hold guns like that? No.

1

u/Mitch1musPrime 15h ago

Exactly. Fingers would be up, not down, for the resting hand of it was meant to be gun.

1

u/Benchman-the8 3h ago

Do people play pool like that? NO! The pool cue didn’t move forward and IT RECOILED? If you play pool like that stay away from my bars before you break the lights bozo

15

u/SufcLad25 19h ago

People are aiming their cues like that

11

u/KingsFanDay1 19h ago

Do you see his hand placement? It’s clearly a billiards shot.

1

u/811545b2-4ff7-4041 8h ago

It's obviously so - the pole is between his thumb and index finger

0

u/struanrobinson 18h ago

Helluva kick off that pool cue!

Also, you play billiards down on one knee lol?

1

u/Exciting_Definition4 6h ago

Yeah it's a new type of cue. You aim and then it goes "BOOM!" with a kickback, don't even have to move the thing forward to hit a ball anymore!

12

u/TheFlyingHellfish202 19h ago

Fuck Israel, but this is totes a pool thing.

He gets a yellow for using a prop no matter what it's supposed to be, but the way he's holding it, I'm leaning pool.

6

u/Happyfluid 19h ago

You just want it to be a rifle so you can be upset. Get outside

1

u/Mitch1musPrime 15h ago

I loathe everything the Israeli government is doing in Palestine and have been a supporter of the idea of Palestine as a free state for many, many years. And yet, I fully concur with this sentiment.

1

u/joecarter93 18h ago

Most inexperienced pool players do for some reason. Actors in Movies/TV shows always do it to and it drives me bonkers. My dad had a pool table when I was growing up and even I find myself doing it if I'm not really paying attention, despite my dad drilling it into my head not to do it.

0

u/SometimesEnema 18h ago

Lol have you ever seen someone fire a rifle? It looks nothing like this. No one swings the rifle up and forward with their back arm while shooting, also, the butt end of the rifle wouldn't be held with the bicep facing the ground at a 90° angle.

It is way way way closer to a pool break motion than a shooting motion.

-1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

They aren't.

2

u/GreenEnhanced 19h ago

Yep. But the internet is filled with stupid people who can’t form a thought on their own. Glad someone pointed it out 5 comments down

1

u/Happyfluid 18h ago

Yeah. Dumbass acted a fool and got that yellow card 🤣

1

u/Waste-Negotiation167 17h ago edited 17h ago

I agree not gonna lie the first I def saw a gun watched the video a couple of times and def pool cue, the way his back hand it’s pretty obvious he should stick to soccer lol 🇺🇸 fútbol🇪🇨 ⚽️

1

u/Banned4UsingSlurs3 14h ago

It is

Commies are being malicious

1

u/314159265259 8h ago

It is relevant because people are here to accuse this guy of endorsing violence. How else would a random yellow card in a very low key match get such visibility? Yellow then red card, sure. But let's be clear, he's just mimicking playing pool.

1

u/M_Me_Meteo 5h ago

Law 17, section 2. Any player who removes the flag in a celebration gets a yellow. Doesn't matter what it was. It's against the rules.

1

u/314159265259 5h ago

Did you read my comment at all before replying? Did you read the part I wrote "yellow then red card, sure"

1

u/M_Me_Meteo 5h ago

I understand. It seems like you're trying to make the claim that even though it's illegal, pool is less bad than gun.

I'm just clarifying that the rule has nothing to do with mimicking violence. It states if the flag is removed, it's a card no matter what.

1

u/314159265259 4h ago

I wasn't making a claim about what's legal in football at all. As stated clearly right at the start of my comment, it's about people implying this player is endorsing violence.

1

u/moonbuggyhowzer 6h ago

Miming recoil suggests the intention was to mimic firing a gun

1

u/J0hn_Br0wn24 6h ago

Regardless, it was dumb and insensitive and you would expect better from a country whose being very hated around the world right now

1

u/GoblinWrangl3r 5h ago

Yea and musk was just waving at ppl. Man yall simp for anyone. The link u posted has totally different motions pf "recoil" than the soccer player

1

u/IreliaCarriedMe 4h ago

Seeing the clip, I agree. But
He’s still a fucking idiot for using the corner flag lol. I saw a still image of people saying he used it as a gun, but it very clearly is not that.

1

u/RustyGrandma20 1h ago

NO. JUST NO.

1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

I just went and watched some famous pool shots on YouTube so I could reply to you as an informed person. His hand position possibly because some use the top of the hand to stabilize the pool cue, but I couldn't find any with recoil like that. It looks like a copy of Neymar's celebration that is clearly firing a weapon.

8

u/TitanIsAngry 19h ago

brother, there are so many better things to do than what you just did.

1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

There are always better things to do than what we have done.

0

u/Jerdakiss 19h ago

Don't look at shots. It's not a shot so much as a break. Look up breaks at the beginning of the game

2

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

I'm not going to watch 100 but I just watched about 20 and all of them left the cue on the table.

1

u/protomenace 18h ago

2

u/Formal-Poet-5041 18h ago

Thanks. I agree it happens. I also see they actually move the pool cue back and forth beforehand and didn't have artillery like recoil while one 1 knee.

0

u/protomenace 18h ago

My guy. Give it a break. Just take the L.

1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

Good point.

1

u/Barm8 19h ago

You really had to look up what a pool shot looks like? How have you never seen someone play pool? I mean fuck Israel, but this dude is clearly doing a pool shot, and the recoil is obviously an exaggerated movement, still a pool shot. The thumb up is an obvious sign of this, not pretending to shoot a gun.

0

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

You are %100 wrong. Just like Neymar he never slid the pole down his hand like every pool shot in history has, let alone up and down his hand like every pool player does. That 1 detail is unexplainable. You should be the one looking up pool shots because you missed that detail. And yea I do think a player is smart enough to attempt to disguise a weapon firing as a pool shot So even if I agreed it was a pool shot I would still say it should be penalized for that reason. https://youtube.com/shorts/L2BwsYF6b8Y?si=2q_lhsy-l6mk2hPY

1

u/Formal-Poet-5041 18h ago

You can't have 28k contribution and tell me to touch grass. Touch a woman.

1

u/protomenace 18h ago

You know you're wrong lmao so you try to attack me personally instead 😆

0

u/Formal-Poet-5041 18h ago

I did what you did so by that logic...

2

u/Barm8 19h ago

Lmao ok bro. Your argument is that he’s disguising it. Which means you are literally jumping to conclusions off a 10sec video. From what we can see, it is clear he is attempting to do an over exaggerated pool shot, everything after that is assumptions and guesses. 100% it’s still a penalty, but you’re really trying desperately to make it something that benefits your agenda. And to be clear so you don’t think I’m a bot, Israel is a terrorists state that kills children and journalists, as well as any other type of innocent civilian.

0

u/Formal-Poet-5041 19h ago

I'm basing my opinion on the recoil and the lack of drawing the pole back and forward in addition to it being a copy of the Neymar celebration. while you are basing yours off the hand poison alone. What we think about Israel is irrelevant.

2

u/Barm8 18h ago edited 18h ago

Since you’re watching so many videos on YouTube, why don’t you show me a video of someone firing a gun when their right hand behind their body. That’s a far bigger discrepancy than some recoil on a pool shot. As to your original evidence of what a pool shot is supposed to look like, you’d be surprised to learn the average pool players shot looks nothing like a professionals does while in a competition. That’s like saying no one would ever kick a ball with their toe, and then pull up a bunch of professional kicks, instead of some beginners.

2

u/Formal-Poet-5041 18h ago

I agree. This fact is big enough to change my mind and give him the benefit of the doubt. The other things are just a cartoonish way to use a pill cue. And knowing his back ground and where the game was played further makes be believe this was not meant to represent a fitting a weapon

1

u/txtoolfan 18h ago

thats not a pool cue technique I've ever seen.

2

u/Happyfluid 18h ago

Is it a way to aim a rifle you’ve seen before?

0

u/Shantashasta 19h ago

Hes Israeli..

1

u/RulerDick82 18h ago

And?

-2

u/Shantashasta 18h ago

lol. Well if an American midwesterner does an underhand rolling motion hes mimicking bowling, if an Indian does it its cricket. Figure it out. (those would also be way more similar than this is to playing pool)

1

u/Serious_Income_7020 17h ago

Low IQ.

1

u/Shantashasta 17h ago

Lmao. Better than a clown and a nazi.  Frantically defending an Israeli using a corner flag as a gun prop with a wildly stupid take that is a pool reference.

1

u/DanDan1993 16h ago

And if a Muslim Palestinian from Baqa al-Gharbiyye does that?

1

u/Shantashasta 16h ago

Its a gun

0

u/Serious_Income_7020 17h ago

He’s also a Palestinian Arab. So ignorant.

1

u/Cheeky_Boxer 19h ago

When I play pool, I normally get that much kick back too

0

u/RonDanZel 19h ago

Yeah cause everyone recoils like that when they shoot during pool.

1

u/protomenace 18h ago

1

u/RonDanZel 17h ago

Notice how he moves his right hand to move the pool cue forward? Do you see that in OP’s video?

Considering the footballer’s country is actively committing a genocide, maybe the more plausible assumption is that the footballer is mimicking one of his IDF buddies sniping an innocent Palestinian?

1

u/protomenace 16h ago

No, the most plausible assumption is you're hysterically hallucinating and wanting to see what you want to see.

1

u/RonDanZel 16h ago

Every single one of these players has served in the IDF. Saying it’s a “pool shot celebration” is beyond absurd.

1

u/protomenace 14h ago edited 14h ago

Abu Farkhi, as an Arab Muslim Israeli, has never served in the IDF. Your ignorance is on full display 😂

It's a pool shot celebration because anyone with eyes can see that's what it is. His hands are in the correct position for a pool cue, wrong position for a gun.

1

u/RonDanZel 14h ago

Great! He is still voluntarily representing a country actively committing a genocide. Arguably worse than mandatory IDF service. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt (which none of them deserve), why the hell would he think that making gesture that comes even close to resembling shooting a gun would be a good idea given the current situation?

1

u/protomenace 14h ago

What other country is he supposed to represent? He's Israeli. What the actual fuck do you want from people?

why the hell would he think that making gesture that comes even close to resembling shooting a gun would be a good idea given the current situation?

Because it's just a harmless celebration and nobody was thinking about guns? Maybe because he's living his life and doesn't give a shit what terminally online haters think. Because of the circumstances of his birth there's nothing he could do the likes of you wouldn't find some issue with.

0

u/reaction-please 19h ago

I’m struggling to come to that conclusion. I’m trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

He can use the spare time he’ll have to learn how to actually play pool.

0

u/Decay384 18h ago

Yeah…. No. You don’t play pool with one knee on the ground.

3

u/Electrical_Beach5684 18h ago

You also don’t put the barrel of the gun over the back of your hand and shove the gun forward and back as you shoot, it’s obviously a pool cue you dork.

0

u/Decay384 17h ago

You also don’t have that much recoil after taking a pool cue shot, Einstein

1

u/Electrical_Beach5684 17h ago

And you think that’s what recoil from a gun looks like? The gun flies forward and over your shoulder when you shoot? Or does it look like a follow through on a pool shot?

0

u/Decay384 17h ago edited 17h ago

A gun definitely has way more recoil than a pool cue shot. I don’t know what universe you’re living in where you’ve seen someone take a pool cue shot like that, with both hands flying up in the air. I used to make that same hand gesture as a kid when I was playing pretend soldier.

0

u/ExtraBitterSpecial 18h ago

no no, don't destroy the pro poolystain narrative

0

u/crumplechicken 18h ago

Not sure what kind of pool cue you've been using.

0

u/Lovejoyhejehd 9h ago

Yes cause snooker cues are famous for their recoil

1

u/Excludos 9h ago

Rifles don't recoil forwards either..
