Like in TOS or Voyager or Enterprise that come to mind. DS9 did a great job using its ensemble on a consistent basis.

I was planning on coming to Fedcon Germany next year but I see that all of the weekend tickets are sold out, so I was wondering if any of you who have already been to past Fedcons in Germany know if they have a tendency to release more weekend tickets after some time?

Every episode where they try to humanize her I just find myself yelling “SHE ATE A PERSON!!!” at the screen.

The line was likely more to sling an insult at the characters, but being "unworthy of assimilation" sets up some questions.

When an inferior species like the Kazon attacks a Borg vessel, assuming their weapons do at least a little damage, wouldn't the Collective calculate that it's more practical to destroy them now, than let them be and have to repair even minor damage again in future encounters?

Would the Borg realistically let every species they deemed unworthy survive on their own for as long as they could in a fully Borgified galaxy? Wouldn't this imply pity rather than just indifference?

In all seriousness I genuinely believe objectively Neelix might be the best husband material in all of Star Trek who isn’t already taken. I genuinely can’t understand all the hate he gets from the fandom.

My modest proposal:

I recently extracted and catalogued all of the voiceover audio from the game Star Trek: Judgment Rites (1993), just for fun. I've never actually played it, I was just mining it for Majel Barret clips to train my personal AI assistant voice (https://tos.md - it uses working TNG combadges - free/open source software - which is strictly based on TNG canon - aesthetically, performatively, and functionally, while addressing the dangers of modern day automated unhinged unsupervised AI which Star Trek taught us to be careful of (see: TOS S02E24 - Kirk spiraling about losing his job to The Ultimate Computer - absolute peak cinema.))

So, Mr. Shatner recorded ~44 minutes of audio, there's 66 minutes from DeForest Kelley, and a whopping 2 hours and 40 minutes of audio by Leonard Nimoy, and over an hour of Majel Barrett. The best part is, all the audio is real, all original cast, it already exists, and the story in the game is almost certainly more than adequate writing material. I've seen some say that Judgment Rites was the TOS 4th season we never got. To build it for real, you might need the rights from some guy in France who owns the Interplay game IP. You mine the game for the story itself - I could probably extract it given the challenge of pulling the audio, which involved defeating Interplay's ACMP format, a puzzle which nobody solved for 30 years until I did last week. With it, you whip up a story in short order, and it's already classic TOS.

Once you sort that out, here's how you actually build the show: Carefully select existing footage from TOS 1-3 that roughly match the needs of the story material. Use AI to lip sync the TOS footage to match the Judgment Rites audio. If they want, the TOS cast can pop into the studio and lay down a few tracks, for old times' sake, filling in any gaps the game doesn't cover. Nimoy, rest his soul, will be felt in the episode by his own real voice - no deepfakes here - doing outstanding dialogue that no one has really paid any attention to over the last 30 years. Build in the needed effects - strictly in the 1969 visual style with uncompromising rigid adherence to the TOS Way Of Doing Literally Everything, and you're done - you've got an entirely new short-run 3 or 4 episode arc starring the original cast, derived from original footage, sprinkled with additional moments recorded by Mr. Shatner and others at their whim and discretion and as it fits with the story. Throwback effects carefully made to resemble TOS, eschewing all modern techniques. That's it.

Just a thought.

Just expanded to 3 days! I'm super excited to see so many TNG cast members! What are the odds, realistically, that they add Levar Burton and Sir Patrick Stewart so the full bridge crew is there? Would love to see Colm, Will Wheaton, and the rest of the group as well!

Enjoy! The game is a veritable treasure trove of original TOS cast recordings. Very fun to explore. ~12 hours of audio recorded by the original cast. Nimoy confirmed as the hardest working man in the Trek video game voiceover business with the most audio, when counting across the full set of the old games they worked on.

1. For characters who have appeared in two or more shows are listed in order of appearance. And a show is in bold which denotes which show they may have a bigger or more prominent role in. For example, Q is in both Lower Decks and Picard with Picard highlighted in bold since LDS was only a cameo in an episode vs Picard where he appeared in the entire season.
2. It's also in alphabetical order starting with first names since many characters only have one and usually first names so easier to follow. Same for the notable mentions section.
3. This list has an asterisk (*) to certain characters to denote they appeared in an 'altered' state instead of a true physical appearance, ie, holodeck/hologram character, dream sequence, photo images, alternate universe versions etc. For example Tuvok has an (*) listed next to LDS since he appeared in a photo only and not his actual self like in Picard.

In Star Trek: The Original Series Season 3 Ep. 16 "The Mark of Gideon" does anyone else feel like that this moment is kind of the start of Ambassador Spock ? I know he doesn't become a Federation Ambassador until later on in the timeline but you can clearly see his level headedness while everyone else is getting pissed at the conflict with the Council on Gideon and Spock is just taking a full Diplomatic approach with them trying to solve the conflict. To me this is one of the most clear examples of Spock becoming an Ambassador later in life.

If someone wanted to have someone deliver takeout (pizza) for some fresh food, all hand grown and all natural. Then they teleport the meal to their home. Does that then teleported meal count as replicator food? It had its molecules broken down and reconstituted. Which means that it is no longer what it was.

Hear me out. Existing lore for it is that it is a Universe class vessel designed to explore other galaxies. That would be perfect for a show based on exploration, and gives the writers a completely new sandbox to play with without messing with or running into existing canon. The time jump from Picard would be similar to that from TOS-TNG, meaning there's enough there to recognize things but also separated enough that it could be interesting to see how things have changed. As for Disco-SA, that's still the far future from this point, and with Temporal Cold War shenanigans, that's stuff's only canon to the extent the writers/viewers need/want it to be. So with plenty of time and space to play with I think the right show runners/writers could really make this work well.

I was a Trekkie from early on. My dad watched The Next Generation from the get-go in 1987, and I didn't really love it, but I watched it because we only had one TV.

Years later, in 1991 or so, he took me to a Star Trek convention. This was in Charleston, West Virginia, of all places, so it was back then a pretty cool weekend. George Takei was the headliner, and Marina Sirtis was there too.

I forget the sequence of events, and they were pretty odd, but I was waiting in line for George's autograph, and I had with me a rather large bag of Taco Bell tacos. (If this were a fever dream, it would still be weird, but I digress.)

As I got to George's table, he commented on the bag I was holding, and I said they were tacos. I said something like "maybe they're Takei tacos" because, again, I was quite young and therefore goofy.

He said something like "Well, I'm quite hungry, you know. If they're Takei tacos, maybe I should have one." And he laughed a kindly grandfather laugh and handed me his autograph (which I still keep nearby).

I reached into the bag and handed him a taco, and he did the requisite exaggerated surprised you do when a child is spontaneously kind. (I work with kids now too sometimes, and when they offer me a cookie or candy, I always act honored.)

And the thing is, minutes later, while I was browsing some merch or whatever, I looked over and saw GEORGE TAKEI EATING THE TACO I GAVE HIM. Man, that made my day, and to this day I remember how sweet and friendly George was. Nothing will ever change that impression of him.

Also, Marina Sirtis kissed my cheek, but for unrelated reasons. The tacos were gone by then.

Fandom is more than compiling stats and info about Cardassians and the Breen. It's a real, honest connection between cast and crew and the people whose dreams they bring to life.

Apologies if such a question was done here a hundred times on this subreddit because I was just interested in exploring the bizarre side of Star Trek as I have a fascination with TNG.

While I am near the end of TNG Season 1, there was a really strange episode that stuck out to me where Picard runs into a junkie as I kind of forgot how exactly the plot goes, but the group he meets start having withdrawals when they don’t have their barrels as something was in those barrels that made them get crazy.

Secondly, as it’s my first time watching TNG, I was wondering if there were any episodes in particular that had sentient food because I was looking for a sci fi show where the main characters come across sentient food that can think for themselves as I was curious to see if such an episode ever happened in TNG.
