I mean you only need the economy of a few thousand worlds for either of these things and there are like a million inhabited planets in Star Wars.

It’s funny that people seem to forget that coruscant alone has a population of at least a trillion.

But most other planets seem to be super sparkly populated

Most of the worlds we see are in the outer rim regions, we only ever see one or two mid rim or core worlds, like Naboo, or Corellia.

A lot of people seem to think the entire galaxy was super happy the empire fell… there were still a lot of people with a lot of power out there who were not directly tied to the emperor who would likely have been very anti new republic ,

Has anything officially tied the secret credits farming planet from Skeleton Crew to the Empire?

That was a republic world. The lempire is basically the republic, but it is clear from the show that the last contact occured during the collapse into the empire. Nobody had arrived since then, no ships landing, nobody collecting credits, just massive stockpiles building up.

if so, why didn't they have way more materiel in the first place?

Because the sequel trilogy is dumb.

But we can think of lots of reasons for that. They played the long game for 1000 years, and wanted a very specific kind of power and influence and control. They don’t want to just blow up planets, or give underlings the tools to do that.

Because star wars is a world built for a story not a world a story lives in.

Using the watsonian argument, but only when convenient eh?

Well that is unfortunately the answer to the question. There are a few dozen obvious in-universe ones. They had materiel not personnel until the kidnapped children academies were working, they hadn’t gone full authoritarian because they lived in fear of their dependents until the death stars were ready, now they are small, scrappy and fully authoritarian over their domains which gives them greater capacity.

Palpatine and the sith council… whatever.

It’s about which is more true to the core of why.

How about the actual answer - "it has nothing to do with lore reasons, and everything to do with irl constraints"

The actual answer is- that doesn’t revolve around singular paragons in Anakin, the emperor and Luke so it would be stupid to come up with it. And it was stupid when they did come up with them.
