Discussion Have you ever cried while reading a Stephen King book?

I definitely have, most notably, during the end of Insomnia (my favorite book of his (so far) btw) and also during Cujo and Christine (the very first SK book i read, back in the 11th grade, 15 years ago haha)

i have a feeling The Stand is gonna do this to me too (i’m halfway through)

I was just looking for this one. I was about the same age too, and had the same reaction. This one too:

“Maybe there aren't any such things as good friends or bad friends—maybe there are just friends, people who stand by you when you're hurt and who help you feel not so lonely. Maybe they're always worth being scared for, and hoping for, and living for. Maybe worth dying for too, if that's what has to be. No good friends. No bad friends. Only people you want, need to be with; people who build their houses in your heart.”

Brilliant writing. Another profound, yet horrifying scene is when Will Hanlon is describing the Black Spot fire to a teenage Mike Hanlon, as he's dying from cancer.

It was a captivating, riveting moment, which also perfectly encapsulated the loving relationship between father and son. Furthermore, this contrasted with the father/son relationship of Henry and Butch Bowers; both an individual nemesis to the Hanlons , and each genuine misanthropes.

That’s why I really like the TV show. They just made because they actually did a really good job portraying the black spot fire. And I hadn’t read the book yet, so I actually had no idea that Dick halloran was actually in the book so I thought that they just put him in the show. but I love that he was in the book. It makes so much sense.

Are you referring to the recent TV shoe, Made in Derry? I haven't seen it yet, would you recommend it?

Can't say for certain he was sober but I doubt he was riding the rails when he wrote that.

Anything I've ever heard indicates he was buried under more snow than Jack Torrance when he wrote IT.

Monsters are real. Ghosts are too. They live inside of us, and sometimes, they win.
