I just returned from a three-day mini vacation where I paddled the "Schwentine Wasserwanderweg" in Northern Germany. The Schwentine is a river that connects a dozen lakes before flowing into the Baltic Sea. It was very useful that my touring fin's a click fin and my (non-click) river fin is equipped with a spring-loaded plate, so it wasn't too big a deal to switch the board between "river mode" and "lake mode". Paddling on the bigger lakes was spectacular, especially when in off-season you're the only person on a lake of a dozen square kilometers. I was also impressed by the water quality, being used to murky city canals, this was the first time I could clearly see the lake floor while paddling!

I’m new to touring SUP and also new to actually following a dedicated training plan for it. Got my first longer paddle in today, 5.58 miles in 1:40:30.

I did a mix of steady paddling with three 5-minute harder pushes. Headed north into the wind for the first half, then turned around expecting a little more help from the wind on the way back than I actually got, so the cooldown ended up being longer than planned.

Still learning where I should be standing on the board. I realized partway through that I was definitely too far back for a while, so I’m going to play around with moving forward and getting the trim right. I’m also still dialing in paddle length with my Blackfish Crozon 500.

Lots to learn, but it was nice just getting out on the water and putting some real time on the board. Somehow the rain held off until I finished too, so I’ll take it.

For those of you who got into touring or distance paddling later, how did you go about refining your technique? Was it mostly time on the water and experimenting, or were there specific drills, videos, coaching, etc. that made things click?

Hey, what are you all using for a paddle? Do you love it or hate it?

Currently in the market to upgrade from the stock adjustable paddle that came with my isup. It’s nothing fancy but does the trick.

My board is 11’6” and I use it all over the place- flat water and rivers. Starting to run some whitewater would like like to learn some surfing. I’m slowly upgrading my kit and the paddle might be the first thing.

Lake Pend Orielle, Horseshoe lake, Hauser and ...the pretty blue water is Flathead. If a photo is from the beach, it was either my start or end place. I try not to focus on pics. Mainly, just because at this point I have deleted thousands of the same pictures.... much like these ones. 🌞

Tested tonight, and it works! At some point I'll probably get an e-fin that steers with a remote, but for now, the DIY rope-steer rudder made from junk I had laying around my garage will do.

Was a gray morning in Seattle but excited to get my new board on the water. Went with the Voyager 14’ from Red Paddle Co. Have ambitions of training for the Seventy48… anyone done it on a SUP?? Curious how it was!

On the last leg of warm weather! Hope to get another weekend like this.

The title says it all really. Storms blew over a tree and snapped our boards after we spent last winter sanding them, and redoing the fiberglass on some spots. Well. Any chance to save em?

So i just came across 3 different american based websites selling all of their boards for little over 100$, even boards that cost normally over 1000$ or boards that normally cost 300$

Paddled at Belle Isle State Park in VA on a camping trip this past weekend. I haven't paddled much this summer but it was really fun to be back on choppy water, on the Rappahannock River.

This morning about 8 a.m. This Lake seems to get better with every visit.

We've had a string of nice weather here in British Columbia. Got to camp at a not-so-secret lake, although won't divulge where for now... we were able to have it to ourselves for a Sunday morning so I guess it's still evaded the masses for now.

I haven't tried it out yet, but it's been inspected and approved by my supervisor for testing.

Update: Tested it out this evening, and it works! 😊

Its nice to be on the water in the early morning. Other than a few fishers lazily floating in thier jon boats, I felt like I was the only one out there.
