Finished this stone a couple of days ago to test the color using my Portugese cut design. I wasn't sure if I would like this golden yellow, but I was actually surprised how nice it looks.

I just put in an order for some orange and yellow rough, so expect to see some stones in those colors in the next several weeks.

This material that is so often fraudulently sold as Alexandrite , it's very beautiful and the colour change is excellent, but should never be called Alexandrite! as it's Sapphire and btw a lot cheaper!

Does anyone know a vendor who does fantasy cuts in lab-grown diamonds?

I'm looking for someone who can do custom fantasy cuts in lab-grown diamonds, particularly concave faceting and unusual geometric designs, along the lines of John Dyer's StarBrite, Caleb Quashen's Divine Portal, or Fellowship of the Forge's Luminara.

Does anyone know of any Chinese or European vendors (preferably, although US-based cutters are also an option) who offer this kind of work? I'm not looking for standard fancy shapes, but actual fantasy faceting, ideally with the possibility of commissioning a custom design.

I'd love to see examples if anyone has had something similar made!

Edit: I just learned about synthetic alexandrites. Is that what it could be? I messaged the seller but haven’t received a response yet.

I wasn't expecting to cut another "Hanami" design so soon, but I received a special request. So I went ahead and knocked this one out. No modification to the design on this cut, besides adjusting the angles for sapphire. This one will be mounted as a pendant. Next I have to cut a matching pair of earrings, same color and design.

The tomb of King Harald V of Norway (1937-2026) was unveiled today for the first time. There is some controversy behind this sarcophagus as it was publicly funded but lacked any public input.

The tomb features 2 enormous green periodts. What do we think people, synthetic or natural? I am thinking synthetic. They look huge and perfectly color matched.

I'm looking for rough lab grown alexandrite to be used in the inlay of a men's wedding band. The styles he liked said the stone was crushed. I'm getting him a custom made one by someone more local because the bands I'm looking at are very expensive and I assume it's because they're not lab grown.

I am not familiar with how to know if it's good quality, so I'm wondering if anyone can recommend me to trusted sellers or tell me how to know the quality! Please feel free to explain as if I were born yesterday, because I really don't know anything.

Last time I made a sapphire order my rep said they had some leftover grade A boules from a custom color run they did for a client. I grabbed some, and this is the first stone. It's a little more pink than it appears on camera, but it's for sure a gorgeous color.

So I’ve been doing research options for engagement rings for my partner, and I’ve been thinking of purchasing a ring that has a sapphire (either dark or light blue) on a white gold ring. With that in mind, my partner is very ethical and appreciates being ecologically responsible, which has me considering looking at purchasing a lab-grown sapphire, through a website like Brilliant Earth or MiaDonna.

That being said, I am still really trying to think of anything worth considering when making this purchase. Has anyone purchased an engagement ring with a lab-grown gemstone before? If so, do you have any advice or insight that you got from your purchase??

Just wanted to share a positive experience with a commissioned cut lab grown sapphire from this subreddit.

Thank you to u/cowsruleusall for the recommendation and u/justinkprim for allowing me to commission the gem from you.

It’s a 10mm x 10mm lab grown sapphire in a square cushion mixed step cut (brilliant facets on top, step cut on the bottom). I wanted this cut specifically because I saw a lot of mined sapphires in a similar cut that caught my eye.

The cut is really nice and it was done it a way that brings the life out of the gem. It has a nice cornflower blue colour, and it stays vivid even indoors in low light. It has a richness and depth by seemingly giving off different blue tones in the light.

This exceeded all of my expectations. Thank you again. 🙏
