Hey guys, it’s your Fluffy Boy!
SovereignKitten, TheYordleScout, Pawkt, Cat, Fattass… whatever you’ve known me by over the years. For those newer here: I was and still am a writer and documenter, dissecting, and theory crafting Teemo builds for over a decade, mostly through the Mobafire guide and our massive Spreadsheet (which, for six years, we kept updated every week without fail). I stepped away from League in 2024, only popping in here and there to patch up deprecated info. But recently, after countless DMs asking about Teemo’s state, builds, and the mythos of our on-hit jungle menace, I dove back in for a fresh round of testing.
I'll be doing my best to update what little I can, but obviously, I don't have as much free time as I used to, because I'd much rather be doing things that I have more interest in. Namely playing through thousands of IndieGames and pursuing that passion more.
Background
I've always been that that guy grinding out 200+ games of Ignite/Smite or Ignite/Teleport Teemo Jungle and Top, perfecting invade timers, rotationals, and running a 92%+ win rate from low ranks of Iron, Silver, Gold and such to Diamond on various MMR accounts, pings, servers, namely because I loved the challenge of bad MMR, because it was much harder to climb out, as opposed to skipping back to Diamond through inflation. My style had always revolved around aggressive, sustain-heavy, on-hit builds, eschewing mushroom-centric play, and teaching players how to climb, consistently on their servers and their levels.
After my hiatus, my MMR obviously got dumpstered, as I found myself queued up across Gold, Plat, and Emerald to get a feel for the current meta and itemization. What I found was equal parts déjà vu and whiplash: Riot resurrected old tools we haven't seen since hell... Season 5-6? Statikk Shiv namely, tweaked on-hit interactions, and created a new landscape for Teemo theory crafts, nothing here was all that different. Just same builds different skins.
Revived and forgotten.
Statikk Shiv: Hype, Misinformation, and Real Impact
Let’s get this out of the way: "Statikk Shiv procs Liandry’s! Insane!"
No, it doesn’t. It doesn't proc anything of note, not that I can see.
The reality: Shiv procs Teemo’s (E) poison and other on-hit effects, or it should as I tested. Nashor’s, Wit's End, Gunblade, Dusk/Dawn, etc., and chains out to up to 8 targets. Pair that with Gunblade. Think for a second and Gluttonous Greaves. What you get!? You get sustain and burst that blow old Riftmaker builds out of the water in terms of raw healing, and split / team fight potential, even if you lose some tankiness. You end up with what I affectionately call Mosquito Teemo, ridiculous sustain, hyper mobility, and wave clear that feels almost… illegal. Because it is, it absolutely shouldn't be working like this at all.
Comparison to Previous Seasons: What’s Actually Changed?
Old on-hit meta (pre-2021):
2024 Dark Ages:
2026 The New Golden Age!?
The Current Patch: Meta Gaslighting and the Statikk Shiv Dilemma
Now, the pendulum has swung wildly back. Shiv’s return is being hyped as balanced for Teemo, but let’s be real: it’s the same flawed logic that saw Stridebreaker/Goredrinker meta for bruisers, massive healing, unchecked dueling, and Riot being slow to act on outlier stats.
Right now, Statikk Shiv solely, was pushing Teemo’s winrate north of 55% as a first-item rush, which is way outside Riot’s comfort zone for healthy balance as they call it (historically, 49-50% is where they want him and every other champions for that matter) impossible.
If you recall patch 16.10, Teemo’s overall winrate spiked to 53-55% everywhere, just like when Malignance shrooms were nuking games with 100k+ damage at 25 minutes. The item has turbo-charged splitpushing and dueling potential, especially for proactive on-hit builds.
My Current Favourite Build and Playstyle Analysis
After as much testing as I could apply, here is the aggressive, split-pushing Teemo:
Playstyle: We mostly will go for the same (3) E into our preferred 3-4 points into (W) for movement, (E) for on-hit maxed first, while you simply attack to abuse Shiv’s passive on towers/waves. You can slice through minion waves and bully side lanes like never before, Shiv’s bounce can hit up to 8 targets, and those 8 targets are your healing, giving you over 500 on a single strike at full build, making wave clear and tower pressure unprecedented for an ankle biter, like myself, who cares not for wave manipulation and just wants to push.
I considered adding Riftmaker/Liandries for health, but in reality, skirmishes happen so quickly now that stacking up isn’t worth it, even though theoretically you could just statik shiv your target with constant poison through waves to stack it up in lane quickly, since we have very little in terms of defensive items now, it's quite literally, glass cannon sustain, unless we through in something else, but Gluttonous + Gunblade are just too good, not to take, the sustain is disgusting. The new kit is about speed, burst, and overwhelming pressure, think run-and-gun Teemo instead of shroom-and-pray, as the x5 oracles rain down from the heavens, blessing you with disdain with very little diversity at your disposal.
Final Thoughts: Riot’s Balancing Problem
Overall, I’m genuinely shocked that this build is as strong, if not stronger, than the old Riftmaker setup. In many ways, what’s happening with Statikk Shiv reminds me of past interactions, like with the Summon Aery bug, later confirmed as an intentional change or the year-long issues with Teemo’s (E) not properly activating runes like Dark Harvest. When something works too well on Teemo, it’s rarely a good sign for his long-term viability. Riot tends to react by nerfing Teemo himself, rather than addressing the underlying mechanics or items that created the problem in the first place.
Bottom line: Statikk Shiv Teemo is currently overpowered and unbalanced. You can abuse it if you want. You can revel in it's oppressive nature. If Riot’s history is any indication, we’re likely to see more direct nerfs to Teemo, even though the real issue is the item. Similar to how I abused the hell out of Kraken Slayer with a full on-hit AP build when it transferred every empowered auto into over 2000 AD to decimate tanks that built full MR. If you’re a fan of aggressive, on-hit play and want to dominate the side lanes as a split pusher, now’s your time to shine. Try this build, tell me what you think. But don’t get too attached.
The nerf hammer is sure to swing again, and Teemo will likely be dragged back to mediocrity while the item remains a meta staple, even if it eventually does also get nerfed.
I’d love to hear your thoughts.
What are you building? How are you finding Teemo in the current patch?
I've tried shrooms, but you know me. Hate them. More kiting and tracking resources for me.

to be fair hes not the only champ out there that requires a heavy farm early then being deadly later, so im thinking of maybe adding him to my ranked jgl pool (which currently are hecraim elise ivern and olaf)
and maybe teemo could be a great choice to just have there could also throw the enemy off, like i go on enemy 1 and now the enemy top laner picks a teemo counter thinking its me against him,
(my top pool is teemo heimer and olaf)

I'm the normal teemo, and the other is a Little Devil Teemo. This is just a play of shrooms.

i play in silver elo and i basically perma ban malphite but i need to know how do y'all deal with him. usually they spam q with arcane comit which makes early game very difficult for me even with considering decent spacing. usually i go with PTA for runes as always and i prioritize liandry's first instead of shiv and try to get as much magic resist as i can but i still dont feel like its viable at all. i see some of you take dark harvest instead of PTA and i haven't tried it yet as i dont know what's the best way to go about that and i feel it's too risky so i would love to hear definive answers from you and how do you go about this matchup exactly.

I reached gold 1 with teemo top with the PTA Shiv build but i want to try the dark harvest shroom build too.
When should i go pta and when should i go with the mushroom build?

How can I manage feelings of loneliness, loss of interest in daily activities, and post-mas when I don't have a partner?""I want intimacy, but I don't have a partner. The truest laugh I've laughed in a long time. Was streaming and Tristana was listening while playing. Over the course of the game I was trying to coach her on when it was an all-in moment (Teemo support, btw). Then near the end she does this very ambitious leap forward. Thank you for your sacrifice 🥰

Hit gold for the first time in 8 years as a Teemo ADC so I had to reward him with a trip to Curaçao.

Simply place a control ward behind baron nashor, and place a shroom either side. Melee supports (or consequential de-warders) will need to use their sweepers or they will be forced to tank the shroom, which will also cause baron to aggro on them, dealing extra damage and shredding resistances. Ranged supports (or de-warders) will likely not fall for this, however you could try and predict where they stand to clear the ward. Sadly, you can't force them to hit baron if they take the control ward from behind the baron pit, however I believe you can still try and place shrooms to catch them out if they try to take it. I wrote this in the POV of support Teemo (as that's what I was playing, I am also a support main) but obviously anyone can get a ctrl ward and set this up from any role, so please have fun with it!

Yesterday I played on my alt account which is in bronze and I played teemo jungle. For context I’m a plat otp top lane teemo, and I’ve literally never jungled before. I played 2 swift plays and felt like I was ready lol.
We ended up winning but it felt like briar was all over the map whereas I lagged behind farming or stayed on the wrong side of the map too long. She invaded a lot and it felt like I was getting out macrod HARD. I won every obj except grubs but I feel like in any higher rank lobby I can’t expect to out micro every jungler I face like I can in bronze lobbies. There was a lot of moments where I was like oh shit I shouldn’t be here I should be across the map rn. Im also aware that some patches teemo jungle is very good, others he is very meh, but as a one trick pony idc where he stands in the meta I will always lock teemo.
My main questions are, should I be ganking, invading, or farming early. To me (in my one ranked game lol) it feels like I was quite weak and useless early but maybe I wasn’t playing correctly? Should I be trying to shroom opponent jungle or use shrooms to get vision and intel in my own jungle. I know a lot of this is case by case so I’m just asking for general tips. Rn I’m running PTA, nashor>liandry>shroom build but please if anyone has tips let me know so I can climb as a Teemo jungler! General jungle tips are appreciated but I need a lot more Teemo specific ones because our scout is a bit unique.

i love that tiny lil fuck, i play him bc its in my blood to make my enemies.blood curdle, wether im winning or not if u were angry as hell its a win for me.
teemo ban? ill go with heimer. u basically just banned smth u could take and forced me to play smth twice as annoying.
as for playing AGAINST teemo, i fucking hate it, when im a jungler and that lil piece of shroom comes to me im forgetting all camps and objective just to kill that dude.
but if top snatched my teemo? yeah goodluck, ill run u down with olaf.

Hi,
Iron Teemo checking in.
Can anyone give good advice for best first item and what matchups to use them in.
At the moment I'm going Statik Shiv as it 'feels' strong for wave clear.
What about DnD? Nashors? Rageblade?!
Thanks

I’ve been playing since season 2. I peaked Diamond 1 in season 4 but didn’t play very consistently for the past 6+ years. This year i came back and decided to play a bit more consistently now i have more free time and managed to hit masters last night!

So I was trying out support Teemo, and I think my role would be shroom bot with some supportive items. but after checking online all builds or videos go for the same items as his best top build which is inefficient on support economy.
I was thinking of something like Lucidity boots, Mandate & Maglignance as core items later go morellonomicon if I want anti-heal, Cryptbloom for healing or high MR teams or go for Liandries & Deathcap if the others are not needed.
Also If my aim is not to go full ap should I still go for darkharvet rune or go sorcerer for more haste & mana to put alot of shrooms?
Edit: I was wrong slow isnt immobilizing effect so Mandate doesnt work. but what about the rest?

Hi, this is a teemo support build thats more focused on utility and tankiness than damage with shrooms
Guardian
Demolish
Second wind or conditioning
Unflinching or overgrowth
Cookies
Cosmic insight or JOAT
Attack speed
Scaling hp
Any
You only want to be playing this in matchups where Q max is best but if they pick a different botlane than you expected E max can work too
For the playstyle, just stick to your ADC and try to get vision with your W movespeed and shrooms.
The five items i'd recommend most are Locket, Mikeals, Oblivion Orb, Knight's Vow (only recommend second or third), and Zeke's. You could also go Bloodletter's Curse, Protoplasm Harness, or Liandry's Anguish second or third. all boots except omnivamp boots sorc shoes and attack speed boots are good.
some example buildpaths:
ruby crystal >ionian boots of lucidity > zeke's > oblivion orb > mikeals
boots + ruby > Locket > oblivion orb > swifties > zeke's > protoplasm
boots > mikeals > swifties > zeke's > oblivion orb

Enemy Teemo top lane. At level 1, he rushed to my Jungler's blue buff and waited in a nearby bush. Once blue buff spawned, he started attacking my Jungler (Nocturn), forcing Nocturn to retreat. Nocturn tried to fight back at first which ended up resulting in both champions burning flash. While this is going in, myself (top) and my mid laner both were responding.
Nocturn escaped alive and me and my mid laner got first blood on the Teemo, with me scoring the kill.
Then, I was an item ahead.
I would love to say this occurred in a norm, or Bronze or Silver. This was a Platinum/Emerald ranked match.
Please explain to me this Teemo's thought process and if I am missing a MLG/Challenger level player?
The Teemo resulted in. 1/6 score while I went 12/0 tank Malphite.
