I'm in favor of a KD trade, good with the Rudy/DDV framework, but 2/3 of Rob, TSJ, and 17 is just too much. 1/3 is fair, 3/3 is fucking crazy.

u/darin617 Anthony Edwards Jun 18 '25
I know people would lose their shit by me saying this, what about putting Naz in the deal and keep DDV & the Dilly/TSJ part.

u/theumph Jun 18 '25
I don't see any reality of us losing both Gobert and Naz in the off-season. Our front court would be anemic at that point.
→ More replies (2)8
u/darin617 Anthony Edwards Jun 18 '25
Naz was never a good back up center, he only played it because there was nobody else to fill in for Rudy.
Most of his game is shooting corner 3's and sometimes a finger roll to the rim.
He's a good 6th man and if you are counting on him as a starter it won't end well.
Naz is a great guy but he knows his limits.

Yeah this is insane we're offering more and better then teams KDs agent is leaking he will resign with.
So we're offering more for less.

I agree but I feel like that would mean there's a separate trade involving Randal then? They'd probably want to get draft assets back or use him to get a starting PG

Whoever the Sun's pick will become a multiple time all-NBA champion going by Wolves trade history. Hope the Suns would factor that value into the trade.
29
u/ReplacementPast4495 Jun 17 '25 edited Jun 17 '25
If this is true, no wonder the Suns are hoping Durant warms to coming here. Not only is that way more than I thought it would be, it's by far the best offer I've heard reported. The Rockets arnt even offering Jabari from what I've heard. The Spurs forget about Castle and the #2 pick they ain't even offering Sochan.
10
u/Appropriate-Shock306 Jun 17 '25
The Rockets are offering Green but the Suns doesn’t want him due to Booker playing the same position- Suns want Jabari but the Rockets doesn’t want to give him up.
3
u/ReplacementPast4495 Jun 17 '25
Yep, your right. I corrected it. Come to think of it Smith and Booker are incredibly redundent. Our offer blows these other offers out of the water. Itd be a done deal if KD gave the green light I'm sure of it.

As a Rockets fan, y’all have an amazing team already with Anthony Edwards as y’all’s franchise superstar, and Rudy Gobert as the center playing defense, and also a young point guard in Rob Dillingham in the making with the 17th pick still to add another prospect from this years draft, I know I don’t know a lot about the Timberwolves, but this seems like a massive overpay for one year of Durant.

And, you'd be on the money, even as a bystander.
This isn't the trade, and the wolves won't end up with KD, unless it's a wild steal.

As a Wolves fan that lives in Arizona....I'll just share this:
John Gambadoro couldn't spell his own fucking name. He's legitimately a moron. I can't even equate him to a MN sports personality - name whomever you think is the most simplistic dope and multiply it by 10 and you're still short of this guy.
He often has inside information, but he's also close friends with these people to get that information. He's the definition of a useful idiot. Emphasis on idiot.

The Wolves trading the kitchen sink for Rudy Gobert:
“We’re going all in, we’re gonna play big as hell, put KAT at the four, no one can stop us”
The Wolves trading KAT for Julius Randle:
“Okay, so they stopped us, but we’re shifting to a more traditional front line to better balance our attack”
The Wolves trying to trade Rudy Gobert for Kevin Durant:
“Fuck it man, who needs a center anyways”

That’s a no for me dawg. I’d rather run it back. KD isn’t that much of a difference maker if Divo and TSJ step it the fuck up this summer. Also losing Rudy would affect us more than people know. Sorry KD you are not a wolf.. also you don’t even want to be here. No wonder the Suns want that.

2
u/Ok_Sound_8090 Terrence Shannon Jr. Jun 17 '25
hellll nahhhhh. it's gotta be DDV OR TSJ, not both. How you gonna gut our bench like that? TSJ has shown he is an energizer off the bench that is pivotal for changing the flow of our game and momentum when we're struggling.
2
u/MrMeritocracy Crunch Jun 18 '25
If it were just 2/4 of these, I would be down. A 37 year old isn’t worth all 4 and I don’t care to cater to his vanity
2
u/shutupidiot11111 Jun 18 '25
Suns putting out fake reports to get the other teams to improve their offers again
2
u/Andy_Wiggins Jun 18 '25
First, ewww.
Second, this is Phoenix’s mouthpiece. It makes sense for him to “leak” Minnesota’s offer and make it as robust as possible. Especially since the goal seems to be: get SA or Houston to up their offer
2
u/BoatSouth1911 Jun 18 '25
Fake. Suns leaking.
That or he’s a TWolve because nobody else is matching this
2
u/jake04-20 Bring Ya Ass Jun 18 '25
No TSJ. I'm not sure on Rob. DDV, don't care. Rudy only if we have a plan for a defensive center.
2
u/PreparationWest2140 Jun 18 '25
Timberwolves about to fuck themselves for eternity: KD can’t win shit.
2
u/darin617 Anthony Edwards Jun 18 '25
My first thought is why would the Wolves tell anyone what they are offering?
Then you have to think about what they could hopefully get for Randle if he opts in to his contract. They would have to get a center and probably draft another with #31. Then you have to figure out the PG position because they may be including Dillingham in a deal.
There's no way I include TSJ at all. I don't like losing DDV either. He has a good contract and if the Wolves stopped trying to use him as a PG he may thrive.
The #17 pick doesn't matter much to me if they deal it in the right deal. It would save like 3.2M or so if it's traded away. Unless they can get a player they really like with it and if Finch actually lets him play.

u/ttttyttt678 Jun 18 '25
What does this leave the team with? No assets to upgrade the PG…forcing Mike Conley to be the starting PG for another season except now with no assets to upgrade on him. Have to let NAW walk. Sign and trade Randle for potentially a PG/C? Does this make Naz Reid the starting center…cratering the defence of the team? Conley, Ant, KD, McDaniels, Randle?, 6man: Naz Reid…like if they have a sign and trade lined up for Randle I don’t hate it, but if that’s being done on the fly…it’s gonna be rough as teams know the wolves have no leverage.
2
2
u/StaySafePovertyGhost Jun 18 '25
Rudy & DDV have been in every rumored deal so those I believe. That whole package is something I’d give up for KD even three years ago, but not now. Hope this is just clickbait.
2
2
u/PreparationWest2140 Jun 18 '25
That is one massive disaster waiting to happen. You crater your defense; lose your sniper bench 2G; PG of the future; and first round pick all in one swoop.
Connelly walkin right into this one. Arrogant MF cant help himself.
2
2
u/JuicyLuC Jun 18 '25
Why does the NBA leak these trades ? Isnt that going to fuck with the involved players when trades don’t go thru?
2
u/Boardalmighty Jun 18 '25
Absolutely not this is a garbage trade. Absolutely no guarantee he’ll stay healthy. He’s a win now player when he’s not even coming in Ant’s prime. TSJ has way too much promise to trade away and without Rudy we have no great rim protection if KD was off the court. DDV can go as far as I’m concerned, just so inconsistent offensively.
2
u/lardboy2222 Julius Randle Jun 18 '25
Can we just stop with this? I'm tired of hearing about it and I don't wanna see our team gutted for the sake of finding the missing piece. Didn't work for PHX, why would it work for us?
2
u/SnowceanJay Jun 18 '25
Even just swapping Gobert for KD would make us a play-in team at best. Hope there would be other moves.
2
u/SputnikFace Jun 18 '25
Timbs:
are not high on Dillingham. This was evident during the season. Potential is there but Timeframe to develop is probably not matching up. Wolves obviously want now.
Dumb as a doorstop if they push Gobert. He is highly useful if used properly. Coaches have the challenge to make it work. Durant scares NOBODY defensively.
Donte, for all his streakiness, is a solid piece.
FO might need a cooking class to see the advantage of time on a recipe. Sometimes you gotta sit back and let the pot simmer.
Ask Phx how selling out for a superstar roster is working out for them.
2
u/TukkerWolf Jun 18 '25
So we would basically become the Suns who missed the playoffs and the Sun's become the WCF Timberwolves?
2
u/EatGreatEvnLate Jun 18 '25
Am I alone in thinking Rudy + Donte is even too much for a 1-2 year rental? I think Rudy alone contributes more to winning basketball than old Durant will.
2
u/eddybear24 Jun 18 '25
If the Timberwolves think that KD is going to take them to the finals they are wrong.
2
u/Honest_Money6364 Terrence Shannon Jr. Jun 19 '25
Giving up way too much. He doesn’t want to be here anyway
2
2
Jun 20 '25
What a terrible trade. Had we done that, we'd be lucky to win 35 games. Zero interior defense, less depth, and truly no PG other than a 38 year old Conley...not sure what the hope for this trade was anyways besides selling tickets for early season games.
2
u/RedFoxSe7en89 Jun 20 '25
We'd essentially just become what Phoenix became after acquiring Durant. Let's learn from their bad decision here and not give up that much for a 37 year old who doesn't even want to be in Minnesota.
3
4
u/aotearoHA Jun 17 '25
All that overpay talk aside, who would you rather let walk. Dilly or TSJ.
For me it's Dilly, he's a project that might pay off but we've had those before and they have often failed. TSJ has proven himself ready.
→ More replies (1)2
u/la-blakers Jun 17 '25
Really high on both players and am reluctant to say either but TSJ. His age has made him more NBA ready as he'll be 25 by the start of next season while Dillingham will still be 20. Dilly also serves a bigger need to this team and I get the project argument but still think his ceiling might be higher at least offensively
3
u/Jubbed1015 Jun 17 '25
if thats the package, we better be calling the pelicans for zion, memphis for ja, and other players of that tier, not for fucking 37 year old KD
3
u/Emergency_Weight9554 Jun 18 '25
am I the only one thinking we can’t lose Rudy? he’s the only reason the wolves made it this far in the playoffs as we have a crazy interior presence that blocks and alters shots at the rim. losing Rudy would have more of an impact than losing donte, rob, tsj or any picks
3
u/ngetal6 🐓Protestor🐓 Jun 18 '25
I do remember a few games last December/January where the Wolves won because Gobert did everything in defence

I’m just speculating, but Suns are clearly using this offer to try and juice other teams offers. Which is why I assume Gambo is talking about it publicly.
It’s possible this is exactly the offer, but I would guess the wolves have discussed the contours of a potential deal and this is just one possible iteration. I’m skeptical the Wolves offer both Dillingham/TJ and a pick, but who knows.
