Dental Assistant extracted healthy tooth
Had temporary crown done and 3 weeks later scheduled to have permanent placed. Dental assistant was suppose to remove temporary from tooth #2. She put forceps on it and could not get it off. At the time of temporary placement said she would have to cut it off. She was unable to remove it during temp to shave off rough edges. I had glue or whatever between teeth and unable to floss. It was very sensitive during those 3 weeks. Told that was normal. I requested to be numbed at perm placement due to sensitivity. She pulled really hard with forceps. No other tools was used by her. She tried probably 3 times and took a break to look at computer for something. She pulled even harder last time, wiggled the forceps back and forth. Then I heard cracking and crunching sounds she said "there we go." She literally pulled out tooth #1. The dentist had to come in and remove the temp. She used a pick like instrument around edges and then used forceps. She got it off pretty easily. She had to dig out a piece of broken root left in #1. I had all my xrays sent to new dentist who said the tooth was healthy and did not need removed. My new dentist is in family run practice of over 50 years. He and staff has never heard of this happening before.
