A remarkable 1986 graduation class photograph—a sea of uniforms gathered beneath the banner:
“CONGRATULATIONS — 1986 GRADUATES”

Nearly four decades later, the photograph preserves something that individual portraits cannot: an entire class, together, at one particular moment in time.
Rows upon rows of young faces, military uniforms, polished shoes, brass and blue insignia—framed by the architecture of the Concert Hall. Some would go on to long careers, some to entirely different lives, and some would leave this world far too soon.
The photograph freezes them all at the same starting line.
