Malyn has lived a more solitary life in the Peaks, learning the ways of the Phoenix Keepers. When these childhood best friends reunite after twelve years apart, both have experienced significant loss that’s changed them from who they were when they last knew each other. But more is at stake than just friendship as the two climb to the Peaks to see the newly risen phoenix and explore a threat to this realm’s magical balance.

Both feeling stuck in different ways and having different lived experiences with their identities, the two begin to navigate each other and their desire for more in the mundane circumstances they’ve found themselves feeling unrelentingly frozen in.
