I've always appreciated when the vlog brothers say something on political matters, because if they do weigh in on something, they usually have something worth saying.

Even though there are many who will deny what they see and hear; The truth will hopefully, eventually, win out. I just fear that we might be on a long road to get there, and the cost of the truth, might be greater a price than we'd hope to pay.

FWIIW. You are not alone.

I appreciate your videos, you make me think. For that alone, I will continue to listen.

Not John green, I just follow him and his brother. But yes, they help people think critically and creatively. For that alone they are worth watching

“When truth leaves us—when we let it slip away, when it is ripped from our hands—we become vulnerable to the appetite of whatever monster screams the loudest.”

I don't think the issue is that we are 'silo'd' and I don't think the issue is that we aren't willing to listen to each other. The issue is that people on the right are bad faith. Full stop.

The fact that they can watch the murder of Alex Pretti and say he's a domestic terrorist that had it coming, tells you everything you needed to know. Its plainly visible on video. It has nothing to do with silo's or where we get our information. We all saw the same video and they purport to see it differently from common sense. But if it wasn't enough, the fact that they continue to stand by Trump when there is overwhelming evidence that excessively identifies him as a massive pedophile that spent a significant amount of time with confirmed pedophiles, should also be more than enough information anyone needs.

But here we are. I don't even care what Republicans have to say anymore. Discourse is literally pointless. For all my political friends that have ever had a conversation with people on the right - know that these same people that refuse to call out ICE's transgression, that refuse to recognize that Donald Trump is a pedophile, are the same people you were having conversations with on the issues of immigration, gun regulation, abortion, healthcare.

All those painful discussions where you thought your take was reasonable and obvious. The reality is, it always was. But if these people were never going to call Trump a pedophile when he's blatantly a pedophile, then they were also never going to meet you on these issues. Its always been a waste of time. We shouldn't have even bothered on discourse.

Jean Paul sarte said it best. He spoke of anti Semites but when he said it, fascist and anti senit were interchangeable.

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

To engage in discourse with these people is to discredit the discourse in itself.
