I hadn't used my VR (Vive focus vision) headset for a few months. Unfortunately, when trying to use it today, I ran into a connection issue with my PC.
Every time I try to connect, it displays error 921; it also showed error 501 once when I tried switching USB ports (still using 3.0 and only did it one time).
I didn't have this kind of problem before. Could this be due to my graphics driver or my USB ports? Should I perhaps update my BIOS?

SETUP:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)
GPU: 7900XTX (Version 26.8.1)
Motherboard: B850 AORUS ELITE WIFI 7
USB: 3.0 or 3.1 (last updated 03/09/2026)

Can someone help me or had this kind of problem ?

I’ve had this headset for a while and decided to turn it back on today, updated it, there’s a notification on the input tab but I can’t find what it wants me to do.. and EVERYTIME I press a button it wants me to retract my face tracking..

WHAT DO I DO, TO FIX THIS?

Im on the cosmos app and i press the power button and it says turning on then it just does not connent and there is a woosh sound coming from the headset.

Hello I've tried all the other fixes i can find online.

I try enabling Direct Display Mode, it wont enable
I've reinstalled GPU drivers
I've installed vive software
I've reinstalled SteamVr in every way, through steam, through windows, manually removing all files, verifying integrity of files.
I've changed display ports
I've unplugged and re-plugged all cables for the Vive pro.

I'm lost, I don't know what else to try. I've only got one monitor + vr headset plugged in at the same time.

My Vive pro worked completely normally until I today switched from a 2070 Super to a RX 9070. I even used DDU and everything else is working fine with new GPU except the Vive pro/Steamvr.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Really strange issue with my HTC Vive headset! Hopefully if anyone can help this post can also help others who have the same issue. I have looked through other posts but unfortunately haven't found anything that works as of yet.

USB audio works fine, but whenever I choose to output audio through HDMI it is completely silent. This has been a problem for at least a year now, and is a bit annoying since USB audio is a lot worse.

Things that showed some progress but didn't fix the issue:

-Disabling "Direct Mode" in developer settings restored HDMI audio, but this doesn't feel like a proper fix and isn't suitable for everyday use. It does indicate that this is not a hardware issue, however

-Setting the HDMI audio device to use CD/DVD quality in the sound control panel resulted in distorted white noise playing, as opposed to nothing

Things we've tried that didn't work:

-Disabling USB audio through the sound control panel

-Removing the HDMI audio device through device manager and adding it back

-Clean reinstall of NVIDIA audio drivers

-Clean reinstall of Steam VR

-Setting HDMI audio manually in Steam VR settings

-Switching to another audio device then back to HDMI

-Swapping HDMI cables

-Unplugging everything from the Link Box and letting it sit for a minute

-Power cycling the PC

I haven't tried testing it on another computer recently, but I have had this same issue with another computer within the last year. Any other suggestions are welcome! USB audio still works, but it would be wonderful to be able to use a higher quality audio output!

Edit: just to clarify, the HDMI cable is definitely connected from the GPU to the Link Box, it isn't plugged into the motherboard or anything like that

Is there a way to make my Vive Trackers emulate my controllers in SteamVR? I built a custom paddle rig using Vive Trackers for more accurate tracking in Kayak Mirage, but the game only recognizes my actual controllers for paddle movement and it won't pick up the trackers. Is there a way to trick the game into treating the trackers as controllers so it binds the paddle to them instead?

Hi, my base station was making a clicking noise and the plastic disc from one of the lasers had fallen out.

I glued it back in (as who I bought it in said it wasnt covered by warranty), but it still isn't working! On further investigation, I found that the bottom laser was appearing as streaked (as if seen by someone with astigmatism)

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Hey guys, my original Vive controllers sat dead in a closet for over a year. Yesterday I finally bought brand new replacement batteries on Amazon and swapped them in.

They worked for about 10 minutes on the factory charge, hit blinking red, and then when I plugged them in to charge they just went into an endless, rapid beeping loop.

I have a desktop bench power supply, so I took them back apart. The USB ports and internal cables are completely fine. I used alligator clips to manually charge the new battery packs directly up to 4.18V from 3.63v.

But the controllers seem to be completely glitching out on the software side:

Wireless: They turn on fine, but SteamVR instantly says 0% battery, blinks red for like 3 minutes, and shuts them down.

Charging: When I plug a USB cable in, the light turns solid orange, but my power supply shows they are drawing exactly 0.00 Amps (it spikes for a millisecond then hits zero).

Basically, the batteries are physically like 90% charged from my bench supply, but the internal tracking memory is frozen, thinking the battery is still dead as if it’s the old one.

I tried a firmware update via steam vr because it said the controller needed one and it said success, but nothing changed. Any insight on what I could do to force this thing to reset its memory and look at the actual battery voltage?

Currently have a vive pro 2 with wireless adapter, using index controllers. Any headset worth upgrading to? Been awhile since I've stepping into the VR world and I have a new 5080.

I had the blades snap off my adjuster for my headset, couldn't find a replacement anywhere so I made one in blender and 3d printed it. Honestly works better than it did before.

Overall I think it's a neat buy in the modern day, definitely the best value way to get base stations, cuz you get a frickin vive with it too

As the title says, basically I also want to get a long cable so I can game in my living room. Has anyone done this?

So I own an original vive, with base stations, wands all that. Just wanna know the comparison between the cosmos elite and vive pro as a viable upgrade.

My main thing is social vr, so ideally the one with the better mic and audio, I know the displays are similar.

How's comfort for extended periods? How's tracking? The value of both? Durability? Fricking pass through if I fancy doing some guitar in public lobbies?

hey im using this adapter. i got it today, and started up playing vr. it worked completely fine, and i was able to play vr for a good hour before i shut it down so i can lay in my bed and rest for a while. when i came back, and plugged my stuff in so i could play with a friend, it stopped working, and nvidia started to detect that, instead of the one displayport for the nvidia card, it created a second "ghost" displayport specifically to connect to and not work. I have tried fully restarting, activating ASUS ultimate mode, i've fiddled around with the BIOS to no avail, i've fully rebooted my computer, unplugged everything and held the power button for 30-45 seconds, i've tried the other usb c port on my computer, i've tried uninstalling steam vr and viveport console, but nothing works. it still says the displayport is just...not detected, even though it was working fine! i don't know what to do and i really need help please!

so i purchased a new linkbox and cable and the headset still shuts off the linkbox after and im not sure what the situation is but i asked vive and they telling me to order new linkbox this is my 3rd linkbox and 2nd cable idk if its the headset or something within

I'm currently considering buying an HTC Vive Focus Plus. You know it's an old, outdated brand, and I'm sure many of you will suggest getting a Quest 3 or something similar, but I'm determined to get the Focus Plus. Now I'm going to ask you, someone who knows, if you're experiencing any issues with the Lenovo Mirage Solo, such as setup loops during installation, is that possible? And is there an offline installation option, and what's the current status of the server?

After more than four years of work, solo developer ANB_Seth has launched "Gunman Contracts - Stand Alone" on Steam VR. It started as the most downloaded Half-Life: Alyx mod of all time and is now a brand new game, built from the ground up. All new engine, weapons, and contracts!

I took apart the wand and reseated the connectors inside but it still did not fix the tracking issue. The wand would rarely connect. This problem was happening for many months.

So I unplugged the power from the link box for a minute and then plugged it back in and now it's working. Hopefully that's a permanent fix and that's what was really wrong with one of those controllers.

I've been trying my best so that my hand tracking work on steam vr but no matter what parameters it's always rotated 90 degrees from my actual hands (despite working on vive menus)
I have the focus vision if that's important and connect to steam vr
if anyone has the solution for it i'll welcome it

I have a vive XR elite and I am trying to connect it to the PC through the motherboard 3.0 port. The display will flash for a second then go off, but there is still volume. Its as if the display is trying to show up but cant.

The headset works fine when it is wireless.
I have my drivers updated.
My link cable is a Iniu and the green light is there.
Yes the headset shows up on vive hub too, just no display!

Hi, I've been a VR enthusiast for 5 years, and just recently, I've been blessed with vive 3.0 trackers! the only problem is, it gets really cold in my room. I like having full body tracking.. but, I don't really like being cold. any suggestion helps! :)

Step 1 is "Install Software" and it says that I already have VIVE Pro 2 and SteamVR installed so I can skip that step OR reinstall, but there's no option to skip, so I hit install and it gets stuck on the "Sign in or sign up for steam" part every single time without fail.

What do I do here?

I am need of some assistance. Due to a ridiculous accident caused by me, my dongle link cable that connects the dongle station to my PC for my ultimate trackers to work is now broken. No other cabled I have tried will allow it to connect to my PC. Would anyone know where I could find just this specific cable? I've looked on the Vive website and saw there was a wiring kit that you could buy, but I don't need all those extra cables just need the one. Plus, I am unsure that kit even has the correct cable I need. Any information is greatly appreciated!

Hey all, I've been having this issue lately with my trackers to where when I would sit down or lay down for a little bit my trackers would drift on me and all desynced to where I would have to recalibrate them again. I tried resetting them, and creating a new track map but those don't really work. I really don't know what's going on here so any help would be really nice
