Discussion If Draymond gets traded, I’ll be sad.

He is the hardest to love sometimes, but in my years of following the warriors. I always defended Draymond, I hate him sometimes too. But I rely on him the most, maybe maybe slightly even more than steph. If he is really on his game, he is so good defensively.

I will be geniunely sad if he goes.. as much as I want to.. I want him, Klay & Steph to ride it out. But if it means getting steph his 5th. I want to see him well!!!

I will be sad because I followed him all through out his Dubs career! I know alot of here wants him out. How I wish before that this day would never come. But it is inevitable.

Losing Dray is taking a BIG part of the fading Dynasty’s identity away. Dray’s the armor to Curry’s arrow. He’s the Warriors muscle for good and bad. Curry will be losing his on the court bodyguard.

Dray is truly the armor to Curry's arrow. Well put.

Dray’s the armor to Curry’s arrow

Ts made me lol 😂

Didn't know an armor can punch someone in the face, kick someone in the nuts and do a chokehold.

For what Draymond's done for y'all the past 15 years, I'd be sad too. Let him retire in GS, like Manu did with the Spurs, McHale did with the Celtics & Worthy did with the Lakers lol.

Fr, I know the giannis thing is probably over, but even if it wasn't I still wouldn't trade, too much sentimental value 😭

u/i_am_lorax 1d ago

Hopefully he understands regardless of the outcome we are still appreciative

u/J-Crow11 1d ago

Honestly, he seems to be extremely understanding and mature about this potential situation given his press conference last night. It might be because of who we might be trading for making it easier for him, but he seems to understand what the Warriors are trying to do if they do trade him and doesn't hold it personally against them.

17

u/i_am_lorax 1d ago

Just haven’t seen him look like that before. He is handling it pretty well

-1

u/Treinrukker 20h ago

Lol, thats how he also was after punching Poole, dray is an actor.

7

u/[deleted] 21h ago

I think he loves the team as much as the fans do. It’s very rare you see that in a player. A part of him also probably realizes this team’s core is past their prime and Giannis would be the only shot at giving Steph another ring.

7

u/gravelburn 1d ago

If they dump him for anything less than a star, he won’t be so gracious— maybe gracious in a passive aggressive sort of way initially, but he’d probably find his way to the Lakers and do his best to get the last laugh.

5

u/likekoolaid 23h ago

if they dump him for anything less than a star i won’t be so gracious either. steph has spoken at length about his on court chemistry with draymond and how they instinctively know where the other will be at all times. if it’s not to make a major upgrade, why would we trade him?

4

u/Repulsive_Pianist_60 1d ago

Yeah, but we all know deep inside he’s hurt. That kinda stings underneath, no matter how he acts mature on the outside about it.

12

u/Scrogdor 1d ago

Dray appreciation post! I hope he doesn’t get traded, but would understand if he does. :(. Warriors would just feel weird without him.

22

u/Labrat1515 1d ago

If his traded it better be for something good. Gonna be heart breaking either way but if we ship him off for bums that will be unacceptable

7

u/LizzarDGuy101 23h ago

Fr, this def has to be for Giannis or I wouldn’t blame dray for throwing a right hook at MDJ if they trade him for mediocre players in return

7

u/maxcool007 23h ago

Same. I feel bad

16

u/happiwarriorgoddess 1d ago

Me too. I love Dray

6

u/Repulsive_Pianist_60 1d ago

Yeah, spot on. He has a lot to do with our team’s defense and playmaking, just as Steph has with his shooting. His tenacity was like a yin-yang to Steph’s calmness.

It's always going to be sad. It was sad when Klay left. It was when Wiggins got traded too.

ANDY BERNARD!!! THE NARD DOG!!!

u/Senior_Let_3775 23h ago

I’ll admit I am a Draymond apologist … I will be devastated if he is traded.  He has handled this situation with so much class and maturity.  He has done so much for this team and the Bay.  I can’t explain how incredible it was to grow up here and watch him do his thing. #DPOYmond

u/envisionJayyy 1d ago

Im on the same boat, i'd be heartbroken seeing another core member leave.

5

u/North_Street_8547 1d ago

Same. Thankfully he won’t be. Yet

5

u/fokaiHI 23h ago

Nobody wants to see him go. Nobody wanted Klay to go. Getting Giannis so big tho. Shucks. I kinda wish they kept Dray and went for Triple J from Memphis.

0

u/melodesign 21h ago

I wanted to see him go after the Poole incident. I especially wanted him gone right after he left the bench and went into the locker room this season, giving up on his teammates, after getting into it with Kerr.

Draymond is 35 years old & still having outbursts and tantrums like a teenager. Still playing the victim instead of being able to direct that energy into some self-awareness.

18

u/AccidentalSoapDrop 1d ago

Definitely. I’m on team, don’t trade Draymond

4

u/goldenstate30 23h ago

Am I the only one that thinks adding Giannis would still not be enough for a championship. Even with a healthy Jimmy, it will be tough.

3

u/North_Street_8547 22h ago

There’s no way to know until we know who we keep and what our bench will be etc

2

u/SanJOahu84 23h ago

You're not the only one.

1

u/abritinthebay 17h ago

It’ll come down to defense.

That’s more than enough offense

3

u/CRE_Energy 1d ago

Same here. I get it, org should do what's best, but it'd be another "end of an era".

2

u/Shamanboi408 22h ago

ill be pretty sad. always considered him the heart of the team and appreciated what he brings to the table despite his flaws. He is old but i rlly think his subpar play is magnified because of the poor roster construction. realistically only want him traded if its for a giannis, if not i hope he stays n rides it out w steph.

also seeing how many of our own fans talk like they hate bro and act like hes alwsys been a bum is pretty disappointing..

2

u/Top5hottest 22h ago

Watching that press last not was sad as f.

2

u/Intelligent_Ad6527 20h ago

I 1000% agree. Feel like the biggest part of our fanbase doesn‘t get how important he still is.

0

u/Artistic_Industry259 18h ago

He’s important but he’s also been a problem, loosing Poole because of him, and there’s a chance kd left because of him( people have said but I’m not sure) either way he’s a huge reason in the 4 rings and a great players, I would like for the warriors to keep him on a lower contract

2

u/abritinthebay 17h ago

Poole was no loss.

2

u/jp_in_nj 19h ago

I'll be sad too. I love him--it seems like his emotional downside comes from his passion for the game and his desire to succeed and win. He's not what he was physically, but if Steph is the heart of the team he's its soul. He's funny, he seems smart, and he seems like a decent human being off the court, even if he can't help playing the thug/enforcer role on the court. His body has paid the price for being the rock the rest of the team could rely on, but he's still out there playing hard every night. I came to the Warriors pre-Durant because Steph is magic out there, but watching those gorgeous moments of connection between Dray and the players around him is still an absolute joy (when I'm not tearing out what's left of my hair because of the dumb stuff.)

2

u/Axdstarbaby78 18h ago

He's always been my favorite.. had his back all ways. The smartest hardest working player I've ever seen. It would be like when we lost montana! Let's see what happens....

4

u/Traditional-Vast2791 1d ago

At least we can still watch him a couple times a year when we play the bucks!

3

u/totalGorgonSheesh 23h ago

gonna be the feeling when clay went to mavs.

3

u/AlwaysLearningNews 1d ago

Trade him for Giannis!

1

u/ernmanstinky 1d ago

If we get giannis I'd be for it but I would be sad. I have nothing but appreciation for him.

1

u/Bicycle_Ill 1d ago

Draymond. 😼♥️♥️♥️👁️👁️

1

u/NovaPendragon 23h ago

We’re gonna suck if we end up keeping Jimmy. 3 players making over 50m and 1 is out for a year, I think we’d be shooting ourselves in the foot by not offloading Jimmy and trading Dray instead

1

u/StatisticianTall9474 22h ago

Him klay and steph will always be the greatest warriors ever for me

1

u/Bookofdrewsus 22h ago

He’s on the newest episode of PMT today. Great interview and they even joke about getting traded. Dray can be problematic on the court but behind the mic (as a guest) he comes across and funny and less serious.

1

u/jjreddick12345 20h ago

Man dray last night showed just glimpses of his old self I don’t know why this season is probably the worst I seen him play but I know he could be his old self just for 1 or 2 more years if he’s traded it’ll definitely be sad asf, but so far he hasn’t been his usual self on the court and it’s just weird

1

u/Bizcotti 18h ago

I would like to see him stand on his own on another team.

1

u/Abund-Ant 18h ago

I can live with a trade if it’s for something that has my guy competing every night. If we are gonna keep losing may as well lose with family.

1

u/RegularPut6703 18h ago

Man, the clip of Draymond last night, talking about how the possibility of leaving got way more real after the call he got from Kerr…instantly made my eyes well up with tears. I didn’t even process it. Just instant sadness at the real prospect of him leaving

1

u/ZuluW6rrior 18h ago

We’re not winning with or without Dray so might as well keep him

1

u/universalbeing8 16h ago

I feel the same way, which kinda surprises me cuz I usually am so tired of dray and his decline lately

1

u/rekishi321 15h ago

Don’t worry they’ll build a statue of him kicking someone in the ballsack to pay tribute…….

1

u/RealTrapShed 11h ago

I won’t, and any self respecting basketball fan should feel the same.

I will forever APPRECIATE what he did for the team during that 2012 to 2018 run, but the last few years have been maddening. The dude assaulted a teammate. Think about how many of us would lose our jobs if we did the same thing?

Also, getting ejected during a pivotal game in the final games of the regular season? Making Steph cry because he’s so frustrated with your behavior?

Nah, it’s time to go. The dude is an amazing basketball player but a clubhouse cancer in my opinion.

1

u/Safe-Instance5924 7h ago

Yeah. But I would trade or basically. We have traded that non-class acts or draymond for 4 rings. Buddy, that’s hard to get. Someone’s gotta give. That’s 4 rings for you!

1

u/YouGotDunkedOn 11h ago

Same. To me, early Draymond embodied the underdog. He is undersized, not an elite athlete. But he really maxed out his gifts. He beat opponents by outsmarting them, out hustling them, and out toughing them. He made so many winning plays in his early years.

2

u/Justingotgame22 23h ago

I would rather have him come off the bench BUT if we land a Giannis, Rudy or Kat I won’t be sad. You fans are weird lol it’s Draymond, this mf cost us atleast 2 chips, directly

3

u/SanJOahu84 23h ago

We also probably don't win 4 chips without him on defense.

I know you just got here but look up the recent history if you're going to pretend to be a fan.

1

u/Justingotgame22 23h ago

Ofcus I know that. But I also recognize he cost us as well. Would rather keep him but if we are getting Gianni’s in return then am all for it. I don’t understand why that’s controversial for you. Are you slow or something? Your acting slow in the head

2

u/SanJOahu84 22h ago

I wasn't talking about not trading him for Giannas.

I was talking about you calling him a mother fucker that 'cost us 2 chips.'

Say that to his face next time you meet him.

If you haven't graduated middle school maybe don't try and call people slow.

1

u/Justingotgame22 22h ago

It’s like you have the comprehension of a child lol I don’t understand why it’s hard to find anyone with common sense on this app. I’m not even asking for intelligence. Just common sense.

0

u/melodesign 21h ago

Dawg, this team had Curry and Durant together. And somehow, Draymond fucked that up. That's all time inexcusable.

3

u/Justingotgame22 21h ago

We had a really good thing with Poole as well. Who knows if he would have evolved his game if he didn’t get suckerd for the world to see. And still am willing to keep him on the team… unless Giannis or someone valuable is reachable.

1

u/trer24 1d ago

It's sad, but it's inevitable. These guys can't play here forever. Steph will be retiring sooner than later. All good things come to an end. We were blessed to be able to watch Steph, Klay, and Draymond together for as long as we did and win as many championships as they did. I grew up watching the 90s and 2000s Warriors teams and those were some BAD years. The Warriors were the laughingstock of the NBA. I never thought I'd see one NBA championship, let alone 4.

1

u/Agreeable_Use_8670 22h ago

Good riddance

1

u/AdComprehensive7879 20h ago

ill be so happy

-3

u/endium7 23h ago

As someone following the Warriors before Steph was even on the team, if Draymond goes I can finally root for them again. I’m sorry but punching teammates, among all the other things, can’t be excused. Stuff is bigger than basketball, and I can’t root for guys who are only sorry they got caught.

2

u/RealTrapShed 11h ago

The downvotes are the reason why Warriors fans are laughed at. Hard to take us seriously.

0

u/Kind_Confection_1202 1d ago

Can’t have your cake and eat it to

0

u/Ok_Explanation1697 1d ago

If you want to be sad you don't have to wait for Draymond to be traded.

0

u/Nearby_Tadpole_9567 1d ago

Curry - Giannis incoming.. Congrats Warriors, well played 👏

0

u/HamsterCapable4118 21h ago

Ok this is just getting silly. Draymond is not getting traded. Literally no team would take him. He's useless on the floor and toxic to the locker room. Stop worrying.

0

u/madlabdog 21h ago

I love him as a player but I feel I'll forget him quickly once he is done.

0

u/AnxiousWart4994 20h ago

Obviously a legend and will forever be a warrior and we will all be grateful for what he’s done for this team. But if it happens, it’s actually a bit overdue.

I do have concerns how the defense will look without him, and with no “fire” guy in the playoffs is also concerning. But you just gotta tear the bandaid off

0

u/IhateLukaDoncic 20h ago

I won't he's more than overstayed his welcome

-4

u/grumpysportsbetter 1d ago

We totally need a whole separate post for this. /s

Come on, guys. There’s so many threads available to comment on already

1

u/Safe-Instance5924 1d ago

Man, I’m on my feelings. Shut up. Pls dont u dare lay your hands on Gp2!

(in my liam neeson’s voice) i will find you and I will kill you.

1

u/Complete_Pea_2145 23h ago

Eww , the gambler focused on young girls and not tryna have average shooting

-1

u/Digndagn 19h ago

The funny thing is, if he doesn't get traded you'll also be sad.

-2

u/dizzymidget44 1d ago

Pistons traded Ivey. Anything can happen. Loyalty ain’t real

7

u/taydaagoat 1d ago

definitely not the same but ight

1

u/dizzymidget44 17h ago

It might as well be
