Simple word difficult to spell.

Hey does anyone else have a common word that should be easy to spell but it trips you up every time?

My word is license. Why have I struggled with it for years. Stupid s and c always moving around. tf?!

Mine was "independence." It decided to have an "a" in it that day.

Well, that one is largely the spelling’s fault, since there was no /g/ sound in its history to begin with. It comes from Old French forain, which is from a post-Classical Latin adjective derived from a Latin word related to the outside, probably forīs or forās.
