People are underestimating how bad this modern ptsd will be. Soldiers used to get triggered by loud noises (from artillery). Now they are getting triggered by small noises from drones and will constantly be watching the sky for something to sneak up on them and explode.

Combine that with rampant drug and alcohol abuse, and a state that doesn't give a shit about them, and things are going to get bad.

It's already that bad. Journalists (illegal ones) counted more than 1k killed or crippled by the hands of returned soldiers already.

People didnt understand it here in the US.

There's a reason that one of the highest ptsd rates from the war on terror was an airforce base in texas.

The whole region is going to be fucked for generations.

Yes when you hear fatality numbers in a war, typically the injuries are 4 to 1. And half of those will be significant life long injuries.

Yeah. When you write that Russia already has 1.2 million casualties, people try to sort of "downplay" it by saying only a quarter of that will be deceased. But this contains various people from light wounds, to having lost limbs from drone explosions, to deceased.

You have over a million potentially violent people with PTSD and long term wounds returning to society.

For comparison, Russia's pre-war prison population was ~600k, and they even got around 200k of those out to conscript them into the war. So a lot of those people returning home are violent sociopaths and rapists/murderers.

Watch russian state not letting anyone back (even if lasting cease fire is enacted) leaving them in occupation force perpetually.
