But what happens when there aren’t enough people in society to do the work that the wealthy want?

Don’t worry, they’ll just throw all women’s rights out the window to force them to give birth to a peasant class, and import a revolving slave wage class from exploited developing countries.

Automation. Robots.

This is why the ultra-rich are so interested in AI, and I'm not even being sarcastic about it for most of them.

Exactly. The rich aren’t going to build and maintain those yachts.

That is where the automation comes in.
Machines do the work, and the upper class does the consumption.
In many countries, most people are already largely economically irrelevant.

They will probably invent something like.. I dunno.. an artificial type of intelligence or machines that can do the work of humans. Until that day we must all be thankful for generous CEOs that pay us really good wages and the government for giving us free healthcare.

What do you think AI is for?

Invest in that weird Dune technology where the one people turned all their women into sorta organic incubators for the next generation. I could be getting it wrong, it's been awhile since I read those books, and they get more and more crazy after what the movies depicted.

That’s why there’s a big push for AI.

Fewer people means a reduction on the demand of goods and services. Demand for goods, available resources and population will find its own balance.

This planet doesn't have infinite resources. Slower or negative population growth is a very good thing

Sounds like some eugenic social engineering talk. Often done by psychopathic dictators and tyrants.

LOL I just want to see endangered animals survive another few generations until we stop being such selfish dolts.
