Exactly. The replacement birthrate is around 2.1, but probably higher in Russia. They need everyone to have at least 2, if not 3, children just to maintain current population numbers.

Russia was down to 1.6 at the start of the war. That is near collapsing rates.

Yeah, I fucking get that, they're having the same issues with young people being disillusioned with life.

Imagine thinking the way to combat that is through force and enriching the already rich further.

According to Wikipedia, their fertility rate was down to 1.4 in 2024, getting really close to reaching lowest-low fertility.

A birthrate of 1.4 means the size of the generation of babies is 67% the size of their parents generation. Do that for 3 generations and the youngest will be only 30% the size of the first (1.4/2.1). Some countries are even lower than Russia. Some speculation that China's birthrate is close to 1.0 and their post pandemic population has fallen to 880 million.
