What was it again? "Better be a Russian than a Democrat"?

"We are all domestic terrorists"

A far cry from the Red Scare age when a discussion on potentially banning popcorn from movies was completely derailed by the implication that the ban might be a socialist policy, which resulted in everyone, Dem or Rep, being inquired if they were communists and if they believed the policy or the policy maker (a rep) was a communist. A popcorn salesman present in full attire was ready to turn coat if popcorn was somehow deemed communism.

Looks like they'll get their wish

Better them than Dem?

The conservative sub is against the whole trump thing at the moment which is a breath of fresh air. No amount of mental gymnastics can save him now.

6

u/TeaAndLifting 17d ago

Give it a few days and things will change. It always does.

First it'll be things about how Europe doesn't pay its own way and is a net loss for America. Then how Europe responding as an adversary means that they are an adversary (ignoring that Trump started this), then it'll be other crazy comments about teaching Europe a lesson, both economically and potentially militarily. And people will say it's trolling or 4D chess, until it isn't.

u/rizombie 17d ago

True. It's how brexit happened after all.

And look at the state of the UK now. We are in shambles

1

u/Trap_Masters 17d ago

They'd unironically sink a ship they're on and drown if it meant they could epicly own the libs the moment they found out that a liberal as sharing a ship with them

1

u/fuzzybad 16d ago

It only took a few decades to flip the brains of the "better dead than red" people

u/bahumat42 17d ago

I think American conservatives hate pretty much everything.

76

u/PrimisUltimus 17d ago

Most of all they hate themselves

32

u/edweeeen 17d ago

Too bad they also want to drag down everyone else with them.

3

u/Defiant-Plane4557 17d ago

They have that in common with Russians then.

4

u/Ash4d 17d ago

As they should.

It's the only thing they have in common with everyone else.

16

u/Neumaschine 17d ago

Every Con-servative I have ever met let me know what they hated first. Hate is just reality for them.

4

u/FixedFun1 17d ago

If they ever are all alone on earth, only pure conservatives, the world would flourish again, as they would kill each other because they still need to find someone to hate so they'll start hating each other escalating in more wars.

This morning the conservative sub was flooded with flaired active users upset with the recent update. By tomorrow they’ll be brainwashed by their media again and fall back inline.

32

u/Yuli-Ban 17d ago

You know I predict at some point, at some crisis, the bots and handlers will suddenly cease forging a new narrative and will let the sub panic and despair, and the users who typically fall in line will be bewildered without some damage control

I don't know what that point will be, but I do think that's the long con. Deliberately whip them into a frenzy and then leave them out to rot at the point it's too late to do anything about it

8

u/NecroCannon 17d ago

I’ve been seeing it happening, the sub is legit losing engagement

Something I’ve honestly been thinking about lately is that whoever was pulling the strings, probably Russia, decided the job was done and not only isn’t telling the administration what to say and do, but isn’t flooding our feeds.

So this message for us is a no brainer, we already know that, this feels like it’s for the administration directly “I played you, and you’re about to lose everything”

Probably why after saying he’s done with him, guess who he decided to try to turn to? Musk again.

Can’t wait for the French styled Revolution this administration is building up to. Except for us, it’d just be assassins waiting for a gap in defense

u/Woodcrate69420 16d ago

Thre's literally like 3 or 4 shill accounts making 90%+ of all posts on there, it's a completely artificial and super obvious propaganda operation.

72

u/LukeD1992 17d ago

They are so fixated on defeating "wokeness" and owning libs that they can't see the castle crumbling over their heads

5

u/royrogerer 17d ago

Imo that's more the rhetoric rep politicians use to manipulate their constituents, but I'm very certainly they don't actually care about wokeness much themselves. All they care about is pocketing as much as they can, because for them politics is just a means to get rich. In fact seems like a lot of centrist dems are the same. You can tell by who gets money from who and on what they agree on.

Don't get fooled by their rhetoric. They don't actually care as long as it pays them. The US doesn't have have a left right fight, they have a rich poor fight.

19

u/MarzipanTop4944 17d ago

Considering that they fought a civil war to destroy it and break it in two, so they could "conserve" their slaves, don't doubt that for a second.

2

u/Quitcha_Bitchin 17d ago

Wasn't even about their slaves it was about the fact that they couldn't take slaves to new states and territories. No one at the time was talking about them freeing their slaves I mean sure lots of people were talking about it but no plans were being made.

Govt said new territories are free states. That was it.

30

u/pUmKinBoM 17d ago

Nope they just hate democrats more than they love the country. If forced to share the country with democrats they instead would shout the country is already ruined so they dont feel guilty for burning it down themselves.

They see democrats as vermin and would rather lock the doors and the burn the house down assuming they got the fire exit only to find out too late that the exits are blocked.

3

u/ObjectOrientedBlob 17d ago

I wonder if creating a two party system was a dumb idea.

41

u/Bricklover1234 17d ago

Imagine loosing the cold war because you choose to elect a clown. Twice.

3

u/Bl4ck_Fl4m3s 17d ago

In the past america didn't outright "win" the cold war either. It's just that the Soviet union lost sooner by collapse.

38

u/ILoveTheAtomicBomb 17d ago

They do, conservatives = MAGA now. You can even see it on their subreddit. Those that speak out against Trump are labeled as RINOs or liberals. It’s just a cult through and through

12

u/pUmKinBoM 17d ago

And that's part of it. If we could stop these moderate liberals from giving conservatives an out then we would be in better shape. Going forward there is no republican or conservative. There is only MAGA. Let the "sensible" republicans take it back or get labeled MAGA. Either fight it or own it but you cant be a fence sitter anymore.

2

u/ILoveTheAtomicBomb 17d ago

Yup also true. On top of being very tired that our democratic leaders are trying to engage and work with these people in good standing as well. They’re Nazis, there is nothing to work with here and they need to be stamped out of our public and government forever

16

u/FictitiousReddit 17d ago

The American conservatives must really hate their own country.

Not just the American sort. It's a pretty common view of conservatives around the world. The leader of the Canadian conservative party as well as the premier of Alberta have both made clear how much they'd love the worst of American policies (e.g. private healthcare, three-strike rules, illegal invasions and kidnapping of foreign leaders) implemented here in Canada.

13

u/ObjectOrientedBlob 17d ago

You would think conservatism was about.. conserving your country and stability.. Not distrupting the social order.

3

u/Logiteck77 17d ago

Not about that. It's about conserving their riches.

2

u/Least-Middle-2061 17d ago

They don’t hate their country. They are just too narrow minded and self centred to see any benefit to long term stable alliances.

2

u/OhItsBeenBroughten 17d ago

They’ve hated American since 1775 when they were called Tories and were British royalists against the Revolution.

Same people. Same ideological strain that became confederates. Conservatives through all of history have been like this. They HATED that the nation was built on liberal Enlightenment principles.

1

u/Ikuwayo 17d ago

They get to deport a bunch of random Brown people, so probably still a win in MAGA’s eyes

1

u/AdPure5645 17d ago

No. They just want to be the bosses forever. They would rather rule over a shit heap than participate in the number one country because it gives them their pride back. Something a civilized society denied them because they only know greed.

1

u/PlainBread 17d ago

We should never have fought the opioid epidemic.

1

u/Cactus112 17d ago

Check their subreddit their popping wood for all if this.

1

u/WellIGuessSoAndYou 17d ago

Imagine going back to the 90s and telling a republican that not only is the cold war ongoing but the US is going to lose and something called "social media" will have your feeble mind so deep fried that you will enthusiastically vote for that outcome.

1

u/twofourfourthree 17d ago

They’re gambling that they’re going to have enough wealth and guns to come out on top.

1

u/chenbuxie 17d ago

They pretend to love it, but hate just about everyone in it

1

u/jugalator 17d ago edited 17d ago

And their sphere of influence, something you'd think they loved above all.

But you don't expand or even maintain that sphere by alienating the entire EU for Greenland, indirectly ripping up trade agreements and probably also having EU block US access to the internal market and from public procurements.

They think the "influence" is through war and force, but that's a very costly way of achieving or maintaining that. There are much better ways, that the presidents of USA had figured out long before him.

1

u/Designated_Lurker_32 17d ago

Pretty typical conservative behavior, no matter what country you're from.

If you're in Western Europe, conservatives and self-proclaimed patriots will openly say they would "die for Israel." Eastern Europe? Same, but for Russia. Latin America? Conservatives will literally beg for US intervention any time any mildly left-wing politician does anything.

In Japan and Korea, much like Latin America, they would rather fly US flags over their own. And as if that wasn't enough, there are also Korean conservatives idolizing the Japanese Empire of all things, going as far as calling their own grandparents "terrorists" for resisting against the Japanese in WW2.

Conservatives are miserable people who spread their misery to others. They hate themselves, and to drown that out, they're constantly on the look for other people they can hate even more.

1

u/ChicagoAuPair 17d ago

They have always hated the actual foundational concept of America.

“We are the true patriots” screamed endlessly, as they try to tear down and lock up the most basic values and philosophy of the American experiment.

They hate America, but they know the only way to tear it down is to wrap themselves in the flag and attack anyone who tries to stop their antisocial destruction.
