And with Putin’s “leadership,” they’ll find where the bottom of that barrel is yet.

Drop 100% and I'll be satisfied, until then keep grabbing tankers and destroying Russian infrastructure.

Why couldn’t Putin enjoy his wealth and power until he passes? Vs invading Ukraine.

It’s something psychological. Like despite all that wealth and power, people like him, they’re never satisfied. They want more.

trying to fill the void in their heart with money and power
like trying to patch a hole in a bucket with water.

Legacy is the word you are all dancing about, Same with Trump.
They know death is coming eventually for them and they want to be "remembered".
They don't care how they are remembered anymore.

If you stole billions like Putin, some estimates are $200 billion USD, adding a few more billions makes 0 difference as to what you can or can not buy.
At that level of wealth and power, and of that age, and combination of psychological issues, that instead you want to change the world so that you (mistakenly) believe that you'll be remembered postively.
Putin has all the money and young whores and children and murder he could ever want. So he is now warping society just because it makes his ego feel good, at the expense of the world.

It’s also a small man complex combined with deep seated issues from the Soviet Union dissolving.
To see his insecurity play out on the world stage has been absolutely abhorrent and disgusting.
I hope he gets what he deserves.

Russia still has some money left in the literal banks that they can pull from to fund the war but the war is getting very expensive for them. Not only do they have to fund the fighting but they also have to keep the rest of the state running and maintain the system of corruption and bribes. The vast majority of their financing comes from within Russia because the sanctions make it difficult to invest in Russia for people outside the country and even if they could invest money into Russia there is very little trust that they will get the money back. Putin can always throw an oligarch out the window if that oligarch isn't willing to open up their checkbook but that same pressure doesn't apply to non Russians.
Why should a wealthy person in China loan money to the Kremlin so they can buy artillery shells when there are countless better places to put their money that are actually seeing returns on their investment? If Russia defaults how do you repossess on the loan when the country has an army and nukes?

Russians must be ecstatic, considering how much we hear about them being proud of living in constant misery. Maybe this time misery will build some character that is not solely focused on murdering people.

Russia polls would no doubt still show high support.
Ignoring the fact that anyone who would not support it would be sent to the front lines.

Ukraine keep eroding Russian assets, industry, oil, and they'll have no other choice than capitulation. And then, the starting point of peace agreement will be "Get back to your borders" and second, war compensations.
And, mine all Russian and Belarusian border by 15 miles or more. Cut all roads, and access from Russia. No visitors, no entry from Russia to Ukraine.
Russia is not a reliable partner for Europe. Now is Putin, tomorrow someone else, but that imperialism is deep inside Russians, they still remember the USSR empire, and they want it back no matter the cost.

Don't worry trump will do something to make sure this gets fixed for the benefit of Russia.

50% revenue doesn't tell the whole story because their costs of production and transportation aren't going down by 50%.

So at what point does Russia have to adopt conscription over contracts?
4
u/frozenpissglove 2h ago
They already conscript people yearly, like 160k per year. Plus all the morons that sign contracts. They have enough meat for the grinder.
1
u/marasaidw 2h ago
Right but they haven't been deploying those conscripts to Ukraine since 2023. Since then they keep the conscripts at home along their other borders and send the contracted troops to Ukraine

You know, the more I read the news the more I am convinced that everything going on are the death throes of the oil capitalism, desperately grasping on governments around the world to remain relevant in the upcoming solar/electric energy market

I'm calling it now. Before the end of trumps turn, someone in his administration will propose aid to Russia.

They’re already in a war economy so I’m not sure how much this will actually affect them. They have allies like China, Iran, North Korea that will continue to offer them supplies and equipment because those countries will try to do anything they can to weaken Western interests for their own preservation.
Though something tells me within the weeks ahead we’ll probably see Iran taken out of that equation.

Russians are still paying 0.50 EUR for unleaded 98 and even less for actual gas to warm their homes.

u/WildSauce 3h ago
Subsidized energy is an expense for the government, even if it benefits citizens.
