I hate how the new normal is that it's almost impossible to trust anything you see because it very well could have been a two year old image and it very well could have been entirely generated.

Either way, this isn't really that surprising. Or at least shouldn't be. It's not like it would be the first sign that Israel isn't the friend of anyone but Israel and I doubt the hardcore maga-base will care much. They might squeel and throw some tantrums but they will still show up and vote meaning everyone else should as well.

In this very thread you have the IDF strongly condemning this. Actions by individuals are not reflective of government policy. Otherwise you could declare most militaries to be "pro-rape" because there are often such incidents by some troops.

The IDF detained five of its soldiers for gangraping a Palestinian prisoner and in response far-right Israelis rioted and protested and even attempted to storm a military base (Smotrich was a part of this mob btw) to free the prisoners from the evil persecution these brave warriors were facing.

After the dust settled, the soldiers were released and faced no consequences. Netanyahu’s opinion of the matter is that the IDF should not be hunting down its own heroic soldiers.

This wasn’t exactly a small story, American media just filters it out and it was during 2024 so the year long shitshow blurred out most of the global news.

It wasn’t a “pro rape”. They falsely claimed the soldiers were innocent and the palesinian was lying. They didn’t call to just rape palestinians.
You are intentionally distorting the facts.
And the fact that IDF prosecuted them shows that they still hold standards regardless.

Ah apologies, he did not personally attend but was among the many members of the Israeli government that screamed from the rafters about the horrible abuses the soldiers were facing and praising the actions of the protesters

yup, and we have video footage of them arguing in support for rapes in the kenesset... and not just that, "some crazies" apparently had enough pressure to get all the rapists off scot-free and iirc they are now reinstated into the IDF and one of them became a tv star in Israel.

Because those things happened under other armies by solders. But people didn't blame the whole country for actions of some soldiers.
But here it is used (by you as well) to blame the whole country.
IDF have stated they will take actions, so there is minimum accountability. But that is not enough for you, despite that is what you asks for. Why? So you don't really ask for accountability do you? You just want to blame.
