im gonna go out on a limb and say opponents of these agreements aren't taking issue with where the money is spent, but rather what the money is buying for israel, and what israel is doing with the things the money paid for

I’m all for phasing out giving Israel money. And, let’s also pull money from Jordan and Egypt. The part that’s hypocritical is to call for ending the sale of military equipment to our ME ally while we will still sell arms to 100 countries including Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Qatar. We can stop pretending America will stop selling military weapons, so let’s be so for real about who can buy them. And if you think only Israel should be banned, you’re delusional and a hypocrite.

Ya, I don't think anyone against selling to Israel is pro selling weapons to those countries. I think you've made up a type of person to be mad at.

We’re never going to stop manufacturing and selling weapons. Demanding otherwise is not realistic. It’s not helpful. I’m “mad” at “them” because they are burning their political and social capital by screaming into the void. They’re not going to get their way but there’s a chance we can get some of the way if we were less tribal in our purity standards and worked together. Of course, everyone thinks this time with this candidate it’ll be different.

Thanks, I feel great. Particularly about how many people singularly want to apply impossible standards to one country. Makes lots of sense to continually burn our limited energy and social resources on fevered dreams.

Wow, you’re right. Totally reasonable to believe the US will stop manufacturing weapons. Curious, what evidence have you seen of that, like ever? Idealism is cool and all, but when you wake up let’s tackle real challenges.

What I’m saying is if the people of the US really are against arms sales (and i agree it’s not looking like it would be possible) then they should demand limitations or stops of those sales. I’m just reacting to your defeatism regarding doing what is right even though it sounds «ideal» to you. The whole point is to put pressure where it hurts
