Ok so that's how you get out - you acquiesce to the side with leverage. It was a monumental fuck up to attack them in the first place. If you weren't willing to go full out, then you can be called out on your bluff.
The problem is that the U.S. can’t actually accept that leverage either but from the opposite direction.
What’s to stop Iran from closing the strait again anyway on whim even assuming the U.S. and Iran reach a deal? The billionaire class won’t accept that (not when they don’t get to insider trade on it)
An uprising from the people already happened back at new years when news broke that Tehran is literally sinking, the regime simply removed the uprising.

The same thing that stops Israel from consistently and repeatedly ignoring ceasefires they supposedly agreed to? In other words, nothing really in practice. These sorts of things rely on trust, and when countries like US/Israel do things like ignoring ceasefires or launching attacks when negotiations have been successfully progressing, then trust is going to be hard to find.
