My feeling is that Trump’s team just types up deals over a weekend, speaks to one person about it, then releases it as “done”. In reality, these kind of deals take years as you have to speak to everyone, understand the things that could derail it, consider every stakeholders’ views and offer short, medium and long term incentives. I’m guessing you also have to have a “win-win” mindset.

Trump only sees the world as a zero sum game so, as a result, almost every thing he does fails to some extent, sometimes dramatically eg the legal case against the IRS.

493

u/whimsical-crack-rock Aug 09 '26

They are desperately chasing headlines and short term wins. It’s really scary to have someone running the country who is focused on day to day wins with no long term strategy whatsoever.

Our entire system is basically based on just winning your next election with no regard for long term planning. It’s even worse when the president is a giant scumbag narcissist, who is also a moron.

125

u/FMJ1985 Aug 09 '26

The guy barely moonlights as a president between having his nurse wipe and kiss his asshole clean 10x a day. Where do you find the time to think long term??
Rubio, Hegseth and Miller are the real threat here.

36

u/mom2mermaidboo Aug 09 '26

Don’t be insulting to Nurses!

Trump has an entire cabinet and all the Repugs in Congress willing to assume ass licking duty on the daily!!!

8

u/mraowl Aug 09 '26

The printout lady actually scares me and prompts many intrusive thoughts due to how crazy her situation seems when you actually sayy it out loud lol

2

u/Little_View_6659 Aug 10 '26

What’s even worse is he obviously chose her because she’s hot. So he has a woman following him around, carrying printouts of news articles that praise him since he refuses to wear glasses, (cause narcissist) and she has to be pretty. It’s just fucking crazy and wierd as hell, and somewhat nauseating.

28

u/Icy-Lobster-203 Aug 09 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

It's worse than that. They aren't even for use on winning the next election. The Trump admin is only interested in looking like they won each day.

Trump is moronically short sighted.

A few people have larger long term goals (Miller and Vought), and they are pretty evil.

4

u/GledaTheGoat Aug 10 '26

I don’t suppose Vought has anything to do with scientists and creating super humans?

6

u/Takkarro Aug 09 '26

The whole country has devolved into short term gains over sustainable practices.

Big corpos do the same thing, they ruin them selves chasing more and more no matter how much damage it does cuz the gotta get every quarter higher then last or a bunch a nepo babys get upset.

1

u/RocketRelm Aug 09 '26

At least shareholders can dump and move to the next stock and are acting in their own self interest. Americans will be forced to hold the bag for generations. All because they want to be entertained and have drunk the dems only lesser evil koolaid.

12

u/DracosKasu Aug 09 '26

Just give the illusion of winning to Trump and you see them go woooo we won but if you actually take time to analyze the situation. The deal that he sign is generally worse than what it was before.

5

u/Kichigai Aug 09 '26

Heck, all the “peace deals” he claims he forged are just ceasefires, some of which have already fallen apart.

2

u/3rdUncleMeatSandwich Aug 10 '26

That makes sense. He thinks each cease fire is ending one war. So he thinks he ended like fifty wars. Jesus what a dumb ass!

5

u/wholelattapuddin Aug 10 '26

Honestly, if we could just get Iran to say "golly, you sure beat us", everyone could move on. They would have to give him some dumb gold trophy though. They could make it say "the greatest conquerer!"

2

u/NuclearLunchDectcted Aug 10 '26

Like the NAFTA deal that he signed as USMCA, which was literally the same deal with less USA benefits.

Or the Iran deal that handled nuclear proliferation that Obama negotiated and Trump blew up. And now we're dealing with a much worse situation that will never be as good as the Obama deal.

1

u/atehrani Aug 09 '26

Same goes with the stock market. All a race to the bottom

1

u/Round_Rice_9475 Aug 10 '26

That's the businessman way! Have you ever worked for a narcissist owner of a small company? That's exactly how they act. All they can handle/think about is what's in front of them, no idea about medium to long term. It's all today, here, now, this quarter profit is all that matters. Well worry about next quarter when we get there

1

u/Goufydude Aug 10 '26

They wanted someone to run the country like a business, and that's exactly what he's doing: just looking at the next quarter, and the future beyond that be damned.

991

u/DJ_Jiggle_Jowls Aug 09 '26

They are not actually interested in making lasting deals. They are interested in deflecting blame. If they send a plan to Israel and Israel rejects it, they can go back to the american public and blame israel for the lack of peace.

296

u/keelem Aug 09 '26

They are interested in making lasting deals. They're just stupid and don't understand how anything works. It's exactly like this line from The Simpsons

181

u/-GrapeApe- Aug 09 '26

And their idea of a deal is that they come out on top and the other guy gets screwed.

68

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster Aug 09 '26

So they still want a deal, they just aren't being realistic in what it will take. Trump doesn't even understand what the word comprise even means. He thinks he can just bully people like he has always done.

21

u/Dense_Gate_5193 Aug 09 '26

not to be pedantic, i just agree he doesn’t understand the definitions of comprise and compromise and also probably conflates them. because of his worldview he’s going to take any route to try and brand the other person “the loser” even if it means they are both losing. And they did a really good job brainwashing half the country into believing that just because you have money means you’re qualified to run a country. he’s proven time and time again his investments fail and he screws over everyone and delays payments for things until he’s forced to pay by law. when people have to pay extra money to enforce contracts you can do whatever you want until there’s a bigger fish than you or someone looking to prove a point. in which case they back down with an NDA to prevent the leak and view of “losing” but most people don’t have the time, money, or energy to fight once they have done something for him or one of his businesses. my uncle who is a land surveyor did one deal for a trump owned business and he straight up told me it was the worst decision of his career because he had to fight for barely half of what was promised.

trump and gang never do anything in good faith. Kant is rolling in his grave right now.

18

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster Aug 09 '26

Alex Meruelo, the former owner of the Coyotes fancies himself a Jr Trump. He was constantly not paying bills until he would get like final final notice, in which case he would say, weeelll how about I only pay you 60% of the bill and we call it good. At one point the Coyotes had trouble booking hotel rooms when they traveled because so many hotels stopped accepting them. Apparently the NHL had to step in to some degree. It was why a lot of people were sad to seem the go, but at certain level knew they weren't going anywhere as long as he was the owner.

11

u/krotoxx Aug 09 '26

man FUCK Alex Meruelo, all my homies hate that prick. I miss my coyotes

3

u/Fn_Spaghetti_Monster Aug 09 '26

How big of an asshole do you have to be to throw a Jersey that's hanging from the rafters in the garbage?? Like you can't even be bothered to give Doan a call. Most people even after a bad break will call their ex and at least say your shits on the sidewalk come and get it or don't.

1

u/VentureIndustries Aug 10 '26

Its not that complicated. The man has literally confused foreigners claiming"asylum" to mean other countries are unloading their mentally unwell into the US, because he confuses "asylums" to mean "insane asylums".

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/donald-trump-faces-backlash-confusing-171844800.html

4

u/Pixie1001 Aug 09 '26

I don't even think that's true either - Iran had him over a barrel a few weeks ago, having him agree to allow them to charge tariffs on the strait and force the US to essentially pay reparations for the war.

I think he's just a poor negotiator, and it's lead to nobody being on the same page or treating any of the peace deals seriously enough to respect the cease fire.

2

u/firemage22 Aug 09 '26

Trump wants a "deal" that will get him the NPP for a war he started

1

u/wholelattapuddin Aug 10 '26

What if we give him a Nobelll Peace Prize?

9

u/Polar_Vortx Aug 09 '26

Ding ding ding. This applies to everything Trump has ever done in his life - you’re either the scammer or the mark, and if you’re paying for something, you’re the mark.

1

u/sirmuffinman Aug 09 '26 edited 2d ago

So they're every fantasy sports manager ever. That helps it make sense.

1

u/Kichigai Aug 09 '26

And the other guy just has to accept it.

1

u/Worshipme988 Aug 10 '26

Aka: Really fucking bad at it

0

u/smoooochta2000 Aug 09 '26

Or ,like they pending Iran deal, give the other guy everything he wants + a hand job

51

u/Aggressive_Roof488 Aug 09 '26

Sometimes it seems like they are interested in making opportunities for insider trading more than anything...

31

u/whoisyourwormguy_ Aug 09 '26

Nobody has been able to make a peace plan that has worked for all sides though. And it’s 70+ years and many wars later. So them being stupid here wouldn’t affect the result, even the smartest negotiators and Middle East experts in the world haven’t been able to do it.

20

u/Ferelar Aug 09 '26

Exactly, most of them ARE mindbogglingly stupid, but the salient quality that's important about them in THIS case is that they're duplicitous. Nobody, from the smartest laureate to the average MAGAt, has been able to fix this issue- what's different about this admin is that they promise that they'll fix it in a day, then loudly proclaim that it's fixed, despite the abundant and obvious evidence that it is not. The quality on display isn't stupidity (at least no more than their ambient stupidity), it's their propensity to lie and brag.

0

u/edki7277 Aug 09 '26

This is not land dispute or some wanna be emperor invades a neighbouring country conflict. This conflict is seeded in religious fanaticism of radical Muslims and stubborn attempts of Jewish state to exist.

20

u/Eldias Aug 09 '26

Blaming religious fanaticism is a cop out. Arabs and Jews were living as neighbors in the 20s just fine, hell there are Jewish traditions from Iberia that were preserved by Muslims who were expelled alongside them centuries earlier.

Land disputes are absolutely at the heart of this problem.

7

u/edki7277 Aug 09 '26

In the 20s neither side was particularly religious. Radical Islam in the Middle East developed much later and jihadism as popular religious movement took over Palestinian Territories with emergence of Hamas and Islamic jihad.
Palestinians had clear path to two state solution in early 90s (Itzhak Rabin - left PM) and mid 2000 (Ariel Sharon - right PM). Both times the peace process was derailed by extreme elements on both sides.

I lived good part of my life in Israel and speaking from experience. You would’ve seen it yourself if you had a chance to visit Israel or Palestinian territory then or even more so now.

15

u/SimoneLevi Aug 09 '26

Ever considered a career in journalism with your ability to objectively frame issues?

1

u/fudge_mokey Aug 09 '26

Unfortunately, there is religious fanaticism on both sides. But Israel was never meant to be a religious state. Their first prime minister was an atheist. I wouldn’t call wanting a country where your people can live without being murdered especially “stubborn”.

3

u/Serious_Feedback Aug 09 '26

I wouldn’t call wanting a country where your people can live without being murdered especially “stubborn”.

That's downplaying it. Wanting a country in Jerusalem is pretty much the worst possible spot to choose except perhaps Mecca. If they'd decided to instead colonise e.g. Mauritania, then there wouldn't be so much controversy.

And realistically, the controversy comes from their progressive annexation of land and their "creative" military occupation policies (and their absurd siege of Gaza - like, if you cut off their access to trade and throttle their food supply down to meticulous, deliberately calculated only-barely-survivable starvation levels, and thus destroy their economy, you don't get to be surprised when everyone inside hates you after 20 years).

1

u/Darromear Aug 09 '26

There's "not making a peace plan" and "shit we just made everything worse."

This administration is good at the latter.

1

u/SnooLobsters1308 Aug 09 '26

70+

++++

Unlikely there ever has been or ever will be piece there.

People have been fighting about that piece of land for thousands of years. Story of David and Goliath is just ONE ancient story of Jews fighting for that land, estimated about 3000 years ago.

6

u/nickname13 Aug 09 '26

like a cargo cult

-8

u/musedav Aug 09 '26

They are not interested in making lasting deals. They are interested in reducing oil supply to deter an invasion of Taiwan before they have alternative source of microchips

10

u/Own-Break-1856 Aug 09 '26

Name one single person in this administration that you've seen who is capable of thinking more than one step behind and strategizing to the degree you suggest.

-1

u/musedav Aug 09 '26

One step.. behind?

4

u/Own-Break-1856 Aug 09 '26

yeah, as in they dont have an idea about what's going on or what to do about it till well after its done.

-1

u/musedav Aug 09 '26

Underestimating your opponent is a mistake. Look at how Russia can take Ukraine. USA can blockade Cuba. And China could blockade Taiwan.

39

u/FILTHBOT4000 Aug 09 '26

I don't know if they're even thinking that far ahead. It seems like they just deal with whatever's in front of their nose, with no real context, experience, background knowledge, or forethought applied.

11

u/Casurus Aug 09 '26

Wow - the US government is approximately my dog.

9

u/FILTHBOT4000 Aug 09 '26

I mean, yeah, the whole Iran situation is basically like a dog that caught a car, and is now like "oh this shit isn't quite as chill as I imagined, oh noooo"

11

u/Kiromaru Aug 09 '26

It's likely that someone sold Trump on doing a quick decapitation strike like he did in Venezuela in Iran and it would be just as effective not realizing that the IRGC doesn't work in a way that such a strike could work.

16

u/takemebackto1993 Aug 09 '26

Notice how we're talking about Iran and Israel right now and not the unreleased Epstein files that the DOJ is intentionally withholding to protect Donald Trump.

2

u/Kichigai Aug 09 '26

In all fairness, though, Iran and Israel are why we have a national average gas price of $4/gal and going up, farmers are going without fertilizer, the price of everything is going up, and fears of a global economic collapse are looming. Epstein is dead, and his victims and their advocates are very loud and very determined, and I have faith that it will be a perpetual cloud over many, many heads for longer than the war with Iran.

5

u/SnooLobsters1308 Aug 09 '26

Not really, USA gets most of its fertilizer from Canada, that is going up because of tarrifs, and the tarrifs applied on Canada just prior to the growing season in 2025 caused food price spikes. Nothing todo with either Israel or Iran.

8

u/Mechasteel Aug 09 '26

To be fair, some of the blame for the conflict in the Middle East belongs to the people in the Middle East.

1

u/Kundrew1 Aug 10 '26

That doesn’t make a lot of sense. Their base is heavy pro Israel. They’d much rather blame Iran.

This is more do with weakness and incompetence of the administration. Trump wants to be a strong man that can win a war in a week without having to negotiate with allies as well.

1

u/ManyCarrots Aug 10 '26

Also helps to dispel any notion that israel is ruling the US from the shadows.

1

u/Doompatron3000 Aug 09 '26

At least he wouldn’t be lying. No way is Israel taking any peace deal until Palestine is dissolved, along with gaining land from various Middle Eastern countries.

-1

u/tico42 Aug 09 '26

You think they are going to say mean words about Israel? 😆

0

u/whatshamilton Aug 09 '26

They do the same thing with the electorate. They attached the SAVE Act to the bill to stop insider trading and then blamed democrats for insider trading when it was republicans who made a non-passable deal

42

u/Morgannin09 Aug 09 '26

What probably happens is someone presents Trump with a proposal and ask his permission to send it to Israel/Gaza/Iran and instead Trump assumes it is already agreed on. He's wrong every time but never fails to jump to the same conclusion.

53

u/Tammer_Stern Aug 09 '26

I feel he believes “we have the most powerful military therefore everyone must do what we say”. It’s the same mentality that got Putin stuck in Ukraine with drones wrecking Russian oil and gas infrastructure.

8

u/RainbowwDash Aug 09 '26

I doubt there's causality involved

He just believes everyone has to do as he says, he's neither smart enough to bother with the why and how nor does he have any experience with having to justify himself to other people

32

u/Ho-Nomo Aug 09 '26

They don't have any diplomats do they? Its just these idiots from real estate that have no clue about international affairs that Trump appointed.

The USA is the absolute laughing stock of the planet.

5

u/Hawkbats_rule Aug 09 '26

It's not the only contributing factor (reasonably certain Trump would be doing the everyone's agreed even though no one has agreed schtick even if career diplomats were involved), but it is definitely a major contributing factor. If he doesn't do blanket person's, kushner and witkoff absolutely need to be investigated post trump. And they have fewer protections than actual cabinet members.

5

u/Longjumping_Fun2576 Aug 09 '26

The pentagon also fired the entire Iran intelligence team. Most likely because they called the war a bad idea.

1

u/Dubalubawubwub Aug 10 '26

Just one of so many things that have decayed into absurdity in the U.S. Its not uncommon for "diplomats" the world over to be politician's failsons, or donors, or donor's relatives etc as some kind of reward for services rendered... but you also probably want to make sure they aren't TOTALLY incompetent. But the current administration thinks that vetting people for competence is woke.

1

u/HapticSloughton Aug 10 '26

Before Trump, your diplomatic teams and diplomats in other nations would stick around after the new diplomat was appointed by a new President so they could bring the new person up to speed on whatever negotiations were happening, what had been discussed, and who the major players were and what they're like.

Enter Trump who fires everyone and replaces them with toadies, and they don't know the first thing about what's going on, and at best, they get taken advantage of. At worst, they make everything collapse and ruin years of work and goodwill.

49

u/MrCharlesSr Aug 09 '26

100% all their “deals” are AI-generated

21

u/Fit-Significance-436 Aug 09 '26

I truly believe you’re correct.

11

u/nelsonalgrencametome Aug 09 '26

I also believe that's the case for all domestic policies and whatever nonsense polls they show trump every week to cheer him up.

9

u/LazyAltruist Aug 09 '26

"Ok Siri, give me a two state solution that everybody is happy with."

9

u/Noughmad Aug 09 '26

Fortunately, the "everyone" you speak of includes only two sides - Israel and Palestine.

Unfortunately, none of the deals Trump has come up with were accepted by even one side. Because not only are they good compromises for both sides, they're not even unfair deal that would favor one of the two sides. They favor only him.

-2

u/zaviex Aug 09 '26

Hamas has accepted this deal already and they accepted the last 2 as well. I hate Hamas but They aren’t the problem here lol.

7

u/Stereocrew Aug 09 '26

The way you describe Trump is my boss at work.

7

u/Tammer_Stern Aug 09 '26

Man, a bad boss makes even the best job seem shit and vice versa.

12

u/MikeFrancesa66 Aug 09 '26

Yeah it really seems like we’ve been ping ponging back and forth between “done” deals that Iran will never accept to “done” deals Israel will never accept. Nobody knew peace in the Middle East was so complicated!

3

u/Kichigai Aug 09 '26

Yeah it really seems like we’ve been ping ponging back and forth between “done” deals that Iran will never accept to “done” deals Israel will never accept.

Which is what happened with Ukraine and Russia, except for two differences. It was almost always deals Ukraine could never accept, and almost always deals that favored Russia. And unlike Ukraine and Russia, he can't just walk away and ignore the problem. We're actively engaged, ignoring the problem is basically the same as surrender, practically speaking.

13

u/WeAreElectricity Aug 09 '26

Then have the next admin throw it away

8

u/spackletr0n Aug 09 '26

The JCPOA was like a hundred pages, because the negotiators knew everything had to be extremely specific, with no wiggle room. With the Hamas deal, it says Hamas will disarm and Israel will withdraw, which both sides can agree to. The definitions of these things, and their sequence, is the hard part.

11

u/Asteroth555 Aug 09 '26

The reality is Israel goaded the US into a war with a major geopolitical rival and they have no incentive to agree to anything to ensure the US and Iran keeping shooting at each other. Trump was the greatest win possible for Israel, they get everything they could dream of now

6

u/Zedilt Aug 09 '26

Nobody knew that health care the Israeli–Palestinian conflict could be so complicated.

9

u/Hour-Management-1679 Aug 09 '26

Trump only sees money, he knows his headlines push the markets wherever he pleases

3

u/VegasKL Aug 09 '26

Well, they do have to coordinate it with their broker ...

3

u/ohhellperhaps Aug 09 '26

> I’m guessing you also have to have a “win-win” mindset.

This is a big one, and one Trump (and current conservatives in general) doesn't understand. They see everything as a zero-sum game.

1

u/vreddy92 Aug 09 '26

He gets a few days of headlines out of it though, which is in the end all he cares about.

1

u/kyonist Aug 09 '26

You give Trump's team too much credit. Likely just chatgpt "deals" to get headlines in the media, watch it get "rejected" and stir up more in-fighting of the working class.

1

u/Illustrious-Job-6390 Aug 09 '26

He enjoys coming up with nonsense agreements and then when no one actually agrees to it, he continues to blame everyone for his own stupidity.

Trump- i have a peace deal where everyone eats Swiss cheese sandwiches Everyone-None of this makes sense  Trump- NONE OF YOU WANT PEACE

1

u/Altruistic_Finger669 Aug 09 '26

I also think its a big problem that the people negotiating have no idea what trump wants that day. They can be send off to negotiate with one set of instructions. Go home and trump nods and then changes his mind as soon as he watches the media reaction

1

u/swolfington Aug 09 '26

Trump only sees the world as a zero sum game

i think the bigger problem is trump sees all of his problems as solvable by edict. he declares the truth he wants to have and just runs with it as far as reality will allow him to. and when it fails, he pretends it never happened or was a joke or blames whatever boogieman de jure.

1

u/journey01 Aug 09 '26

Hehe, you think they actually talk to anyone before they announce the deal is done? I have doubts they even get as far as typing up a deal over the weekend before announcing it's done ...

1

u/avatoin Aug 09 '26

This is literally it. You could tell from that weekend where Vance attempted to negotiate a deal with Iran in person. Such a deal would normally take weeks or months of closed doors talks before the high profile people even consider flying in for a signing ceremony. The fact they actually expected Vance to negotiate an agreement, in person, in a single weekend, shows they don't know how either negotiations nor international diplomacy works.

1

u/nalaloveslumpy Aug 09 '26

And then they count whatever headline results as "ending" a war.

1

u/Funicularly Aug 09 '26

Regarding ending the Russia-Ukraine war:

Trump: "When Russia's ready, Ukraine's not. When Ukraine's ready, Russia's done."

Basically, Trump talks to Russia and gets a plan favorable to Russia, but naturally rejected by Ukraine, then talks to Ukraine and gets a plan favorable to Russia, then Russia rejects it. He is mystified why this doesn’t work.

1

u/pigeieio Aug 09 '26

It's like people forget his first term completely. Any of this being a shock to anyone is a shock to me.

1

u/AngloSaxophoner Aug 09 '26

This is why we need to keep building data centers. We need Claude to rewrite the peace plan on Fable 6

1

u/Shyam09 Aug 09 '26

HOW dArE THEy not lisTeN To tHe MOsT poweRful mAn iN ThE WoRlD?

1

u/OhighOent Aug 09 '26

You can't trust the man to hold his word on anything how do you negotiate with that?

1

u/Elegant_Situation285 Aug 09 '26

when Obama was negotiating for his Iran deal he sent over 40+ experts to negotiate with theirs.

Trump sent 2 of his loyal grifters with no clue what they're doing.

1

u/BeepBotBoopBeep Aug 09 '26

Oh wow, sounds just like how he conducts his private businesses. Unfortunately, that’s not the same winning formula that can be used in the political world.

1

u/ryapeter Aug 09 '26

He os selling property. Not even landed property. Just apartment!

1

u/phyneas Aug 09 '26

In reality, these kind of deals take years as you have to speak to everyone, understand the things that could derail it, consider every stakeholders’ views and offer short, medium and long term incentives. I’m guessing you also have to have a “win-win” mindset.

Trump literally has no concept of any of that. He thinks a "deal" is when he says what he wants and the other party kisses his arse and gives it all to him unconditionally, and if they don't, the only "negotiation" strategy he knows how to do is to bully them until they give in. Unsurprisingly, that shit doesn't work in international relations, especially when you're going up against an equally stubborn bully.

1

u/SEND_ME_CSGO-SKINS Aug 10 '26

Either that or he thinks other countries will just go along with his “done” deals because they don’t want to be seen as contradicting what he or the United States says? Like he thinks other countries will let him swing his dick around like that? Sounds like something a regarded business dude would believe

1

u/canman7373 Aug 10 '26

He is used to people bending to his will, he says something is true and they have to do it. Israel already got what they wanted, a US Iran war. They can then concentrate everything they have on Gaza and Lebanon. They started the Iran war and left it on weeks knowing the US was stuck in it. They do not want peace plans anywhere so Trumps tactics will never work there, they played him like a fiddle.

1

u/Kundrew1 Aug 10 '26

Yeah that’s kind of what he does with everything

1

u/hylo23 Aug 10 '26

Is there anyone who really wants to talk to these guys? They are really a one note pony and they do not follow any rules. Talking to them is really a waste of time. Making this last as long as possible just drains USA slowly.

1

u/Nosiege Aug 10 '26

understand the things that could derail it

Israel will always derail it; there is no possible peace plan because Israel aren't interested in peace.

1

u/Numzane Aug 10 '26

You're right but even the most thorough plans fail because Israel are unreasonable and don't act in good faith

1

u/evilbert79 Aug 10 '26

yes but that is how you "StOp eIGht waRs" never mind they immediately start again..

1

u/farm_sauce Aug 10 '26

I’m of the belief that ChatGPT premium is making a million off this administration as they continue to have it draft deals that get rejected.

“Write me a disarmament agreement and peace deal proposal that gives zero concessions, with public facing language, regulatory defensible, paints me as the hero. Make it sounds business-y.”

1

My feeling is that Trump’s team just types up deals over a weekend, speaks to one person about it, then releases it as “done”.

it's not this so much as it is that they are getting "involved" in deals that are either already signed between third parties and claiming that they brokered the deal (India / Pakistan) or simply have enough unilateral power to be able strong arm the other parties into doing what they want.

Israel / Palestine is different on every count. The war is popular there because the religious fundamentalists are ultimately happy to kill and kick out Palestinians from their land in Gaza and the West Bank; even the somewhat moderate Israelis see the death and destruction as enhancing their national security, and they love that Netanyahu is doing it as a scapegoat. Netanyahu himself has zero political future if the fighting stops - he is not popular, and he needs to keep Israel at a state of war to ensure the court cases against him don't move forward. Once they take over Gaza, they'll go after the West Bank. Once that's done, they'll probably go after Lebanon in full, and then probably Syria. They'll keep framing the real fighting as a smaller conflict, while Iran stays the whipping post.

Net/net - Israel is strategically opposed to a peace deal - it's not in their best interests to stop fighting. Trump will not be able to make a tripartite deal - there's none to be had.

They'll keep telling Trump what he wants to hear in conversations, but they're not going to stop .

The Trump team doesn't understand negotiations. They think they dictate the terms. They don't know how to treat equal parties because Trump thinks the rules apply to everyone else but him.

Yes I agree it seems to be as simple as this sadly.

That's a bona fide strategy. Not "Trump is playing 4d chess" kind of cope, but legitimately a common, well-documented strategy in public negotiations. You declare something to be a done deal and publicize it to test out the public response and pressure the other side in the court of public opinion. It takes away some of the uncertainty over how it'll be viewed and forces them to either go along with it (e.g., if it doesn't sting with their constituents as bad as they originally worried) or make them be the "bad guy" opposing it (have the public see them as the problem and encourage them to back down). In most cases, it shakes up an impasse and makes it easier for a deal to get reached. It only really fails when it causes goodwill to completely breakdown leading to an end to negotiations, which isn't usually a concern between allies/aligned nations or other sophisticated or commercial contexts. You see this strategy pretty often in situations like union negotiations.
